You like hinting at stereotypes without being blatant about it, don't you?

Not trying to be defiant here, but... why? It's a legitimate (and potentially interesting) discussion, and as long as nobody gets called a racist, what's the harm?

I would usually let it go, but the argument was already going downhill as soon as it started.

On the subject of Anakin and padme kissing, those scenes were only cut out in early Season 1. I always assumed it was to make their kiss in Hostage Crisis more...special. :p

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I'm going to post, anyway.

I don't get the Hutts as a species and why they are so feared, or even worshipped as gods, if you will? What are they, really? I know intelligence seems to be their trademark, but, what makes them so special? Did they discover the secret to something so great such as space travel, or maybe new important medicines, or even something simple such as high tech fabrics? I mean, what gives? I once read they were a near extinct race from a planet some believe to be called Varl, but it made no mention of who, or what they truly are. The reason why I'm asking this is because, they seem to be so easily killed, for something so big and grand, but apparently slow and sluggish, too. There must be more to them than just intelligence and a strong ambition to rule the underworld. Why are they so loved, and at the same time, so intimidated? Please, explain.

As an EU ignoramus, I've always wondered the same thing. It's not like I can't imagine what the basic outline would be but it still seems like they needed some kind of X Factor along the lines you mentioned to explain how they became so powerful.

Not arguing, or attempting to pursue an argument. Sorry if it came off that way, B_C. [face_blush] Just throwing an opinion out there. Honestly, after the anger settled, I really enjoy this episode. I just question some of their choices, and am bummed that there won't be more Ziro.

But Mama Hutt can stay in her creepy little shack, IMHO. ;)

Here's a link about the Hutt species.
It mentions how they have very thick hides and can absord blaster fire...which makes it odd why Ziro was killed by a few shots. Perhaps Sy Snootles knew just where to shoot.

The Hutts live for about 1000 years (longer than Yoda), so that gives them a much longer perspective about going-ons in the galaxy, plus more time to accumulate wealth and power. The Hutts remind me of Leto II in the book "God-Emperor of Dune" who was a hybrid of a human and a giant sandworm.

    Quote taken from the Wook.

A Hutt's hide was sufficiently thick enough to take several blaster shots before vital organs were reached, permitting the Hutt ample time to pulverize would-be assassins who came unprepared to deal with such a fleshy obstacle. The slimy coating of sweat and mucus protected them from burns.

I guess they'll have to retcon this too, huh?

They'll have to say that Sy Snootles had a special kind of blaster or she knew of a specially vulnerable area in which to shoot a Hutt...like the weak part of a dragon's underbelly. LOL.

Maybe his lover shooting and betraying him startled poor dear Ziro and he had a massive heart attack.

Or maybe he just died from a broken heart. ::trys to hold a straight face::

It is this kinda thing that has always bothered me by so much of the EU. Everything eventually gets over hyped and over powered by some writer than has some personal love affair with a certain character or characters and then we have to forever live with the notion of something like a bullet proof slug.

Well hutts can actually be very weak against blasters we never saw anyone shooting hutt and hitting him before in moviecanon- we only know that it's not very easy to strangle them to death but it's another way to kill the hutt:p whatever eu says can be retconned- Sy's blaster may have been special huttkilling blaster or then Ziro is still alive but he is wonderful actor[face_laugh] or then Ziro's color and tattoos somehow make him weak against blasterfire[face_thinking]

    Possibilities:
    1. Sy knew where to hit Ziro to kill him in a few shots.
    2. It was a blaster designed to take out Hutts specifically.
    3. Ziro's time in prison severely weakened his hide. Looks like he wasn't kidding when he said "The horror! I doubt I'll ever fully recover!"
    4. Teth's atmosphere proved hazardous to Ziro's biology.
    5. The whole blasterproof hide thing is a myth perpetuated by the Hutts to make them seem stronger and less prone to assassination
    6. Something else
    7. Multiple of the above

    :p

Option 8) The EU has been retconned so blaster fire easily kills Hutts, they have two genders and do not procreate asexually.

They can still be hermaphroditic and display either masculine or feminize traits. I think that actually makes more sense if they are not all just a bunch of masculine slugs. Also even hermaphrodites take two to reproduce but when it comes to doin' the nasty a choice needs to be made who gets on top and it still takes two Hutts to tango. I don?t think it was ever said they reproduce asexually like Jerry in the movie Enemy Mine does was it?

But isn't Rotta jabba's son -only his son- so they are like real-life slugs they can produce sexually or asexually- no problems with either way...

Whoa momma. Forget about the headache it will be explaining life and death to your little one when or if Ahsoka dies but when they start to ask questions about where Hutt babies come from...YIKES.

I really don't think its a major concern. :p Parents are smart.

Hey, my dad figured out how to explain to me what Jabba was smoking in ROTJ, and why he seemed so stoned. Granted, my dad had a... special cigarette in his hand at the moment, so it was easy concept for me to grasp. [face_shhh]

The EU already had a story where one male Hutt fell for a "female" one. I think it was a Fett comic.

It's possible that she actually hammered Ziro with a couple dozen shots, but it was deemed too violent for tv and cut a back a bit.
