ST The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer - Thoughts and Observations

Batch of leak concept art from a month or so back.

I didn't pay much attention to the droid in the picture until the trailer came out.

 

The scene with the broadsword guy is edited. Notice he force pushes as he's stumbling as if he's just casually flicking with the force something out of the way and he gets into a confrontational stance with a sad looking out of place tree that the camera for some reason is focused on.

It's because they edited John Boyega/Daisy Ridley being thrown to the side and replaced Luke Skywalker drawing his lightsaber with a tree.

 

I always thought of a pitchfork design with a short handle with 3 red blades on it, and the middle one slightly higher about 6-8 inches longer than the other two.

 

Look up some recent MVS interviews. The vibration of the voice is the same. Sounds older as well

 

Between Falcon vomit cam and Rebels I'm really missing the guy these days.

 

Ummm….Star Wars is a family-friendly franchise. Why do people want to kick kids out of the viewing audience? The first Star Wars -- ANH -- was described as being made for "five-year olds" by Mark Hamill back in the 70s. Doesn't this generation of kids deserve to be included as well?

Its going to be PG-13, good thing for Star Wars is all the violence is blood light, lightsabers autocauterize and blaster bolts kill without much blood.

 

I guess you don't like this other Harry Potter-eque scene then

 

Depends on what you mean by similar. Bad guys with masks, robes, and lightsabers aren't that hard to come by in the Star Wars universe. But to answer I haven't seen anything that suggests they'll be adapting or borrowing heavily from any particular EU character for the movie, doesn't seem likely that they will either.

Seeing them next to each other though...

Either the Harry Potter films looks really dated or the new Star Wars film looks like a high-end video-game. I can't decide which direction my brain is leaning in.

 

I already got into it with the 11 year old over the lights saber.

11 year old: that light saber looks dumb.
Me: maybe it's not a light saber at all. It's more of a flame saber.
11 year old: you mean more of a lame saber.

There's no pleasing all the people all the time.

But I loved every one of those 88 seconds. Even the silent black screens. Best silent black screens in the history of motion pictures.

 

Especially funny since they filmed both in the Forest of Dean,

Yeah.. I like all three of those droids. It's a quirky part of the series I like.

 

Only 1 Star Wars movie has been PG-13... ROTS. I doubt Disney goes that route right off the bat. It'll be PG.

 

I must have watched this teaser 50 times today, easily. Just amazing. I like the level of information they're divulging so far (not too much, but enough to really get people paying attention), and the already classic-looking SW shots like Daisy on the speeder bike or the new X-wings over water (shown above). And I loved the opening shot of Boyega in his stormtrooper armor, looking really nervous and apparently on-the-run.

 

It should be after nearly 13 years....

Everything looked great except the silly lightsaber.

 

Maybe this whole "light" side thing demonstrates that the Force never had revealed the light side in its full power or something.

 

My 5 year old really enjoyed this part

 

When I said kids I meant the DIRECTOR AND WRITERS of the PT not the viewing audience. I never bought into MacCakkum's endless droning about how "so dark" the PT films were. SW doesn't need dark. It just needs quality writing, directing and acting. And now it finally happens that.

And kids will love it!!

 

I disagree... on screen the saber works for me... especially since it has that overcharged, barely containing it's energy look!

 

Someone mentioned Revan before, but design does remind me a bit of him and the new look of that lightsaber could be due to old styles of lightsaber design when the Revan was active, they did say they would could use some EU material. maybe an awakening force could be referencing him as well. Idk i just think it would be cool.
