Thank the Maker. I couldn't have handled Andor's cancellation after one season. I'm talking incapacitated.

    Ah I see.

I have also seen Rings of Power and let me say, keep the hidden bad guy tricking people one of the leads is a BAD idea, its sucks. Let the audience know, like House of Cards.

I think a huge epic Old Republic series similar to The Rings of Power and House of the Dragons would be tremendous.

...... but with good writing right?

I think something on the Quality of the Shogun remake would be excellent.

I think both shows have excellent writing. I wouldn’t mind the showrunner from Shogun coming aboard either. That was also an excellent show.

Hundred year darkness, Great Hyperspace war, resurgent sith empire invading, Exar Kun's Sith Brotherhood, Revan/Malak retold or the final war with Bane and everything each make for very suitable conflicts. Especially Coruscant being controlled/conquered by the Sith militarily (very curious how sith empire era troopers would look like) and them constructing a temple there always had my interest, would love to see that.

They could do a Vader series. It could take place from the end of ANH and be about Vader's search for the pilot that destroyed the Death Star , and of course along the way he discovers things that were hidden from him.

Doing a Vader show seems obvious of an idea. probably why they wouldn't do it.

You know what would be the perfect Vader show? Adapting Starkiller in a show. He wouldn't have to be crazy OP like in the game, but i think there is a story that could be told there and have Vader be given a bigger role.

This also must be very obviously. Which is why its never been a concept at all

I think some of this discussion about ideas forgets the earlier discussed issue with live action and its cost... if it looks good enough to satisfy viewers, it'll be too expensive to maintain on D+, and they'll kind of be back where they are now.

So... an animated Vader show, for example? That could be pretty cool. Basically use the Vader model from the end of TCW as the template for that.

I doubt they will put a stop to all DIsney+ live actions shows. they will probably just reduce the amount greatly. Probably also looking at budget before greenlighting the projects. Can it be made for 80-90 mil? still a lot but do you totally forget about live action star wars tv shows?

Originally i think they wanted to show off Star Wars on TV looking cinematic. But they will probably put budget first now.

I think an animation show thats around the Kenobi era. That deals with The Inqusitors, jedi survivors, The Path with Darth Vader appearances. Maybe its the Ventress show thats been teased. Maybe this is where we see the fates of certain known jedi like Oppo Rancisis and Quinlan Vos. This is what feels like to be the next animation show, focus back on the force sensitives.

Whatever project D+ chooses, I hope they find a worthy show runner. The Acolyte could have been something amazing, but the wheels eventually fell off. Since these shows are such an investment, invest in talent with experience on shows of such a scale. It's not just a vision that makes a show. Right now it's hard to excited about anything, as second seasons as cancelled more often than they approved. The Acolyte made me want to show another era of the GFFA. So far it's as if doing the History of America and only doing shows about the Revolution.

Well I am not going to argue with you. (but George RR Martin, the author of the Book and a TV writer, does not think they writers are doing a good job with the the story, also lied to him about their changes).

    Shogun is a good show.

To me, the Jedi have always felt like Samari, I would love to see a SW show done as well as Shogun. Who wouldn't. Maybe they could all speak Huttese?

Thats the risk when doing adaptations, the author might dislike and hate it.

    Say what now?

The Mandalorian got more than one season, Andor ist getting a second season, so is Ahsoka. Kenobi was presented a as limited series / one-off from the get go, with no reason to expect another season. If you are generous you could claim that Book of Boba Fett didn't get a second season, though it's not like it was build to have one either.

The number of shows that could have gotten another season and didn't get one is smaller than the ones who did get another season (or are about to get one).

That would risk oversaturation. Say what you will about modern Star Wars, but folks tend to agree that Disney have gotten Vader right since his memorable inclusion in Rogue One. He's used sparingly, only when necessary. He's a threat, a presence, an echo of torment and tragedy. His most extensive role, in the Obi-Wan series, was the lynchpin for the whole story, and yet he was absent from one of its six episodes, and barely in two others.

We all know who Vader is. His arc is already the most famous Star Wars story. It's why he can show up as a silhouette in the background and give everybody chills. Making him the star of his own show might break that spell. Nobody wants to grow tired of yet more Vader.

They used to say that if we ever saw him behind the mask it would break the spell.
    It didn't .
Then we saw him as a little kid.
That didn't break the spell either.

I think a series featuring Vader could work very well, all depends on how well it's written.
I think as a character he would've gone through some significant changes between the end of ANH and ESB.

But today is a different time. Words like "oversaturation" and "fatigue" are being thrown around by critics and audiences alike. They're being used to explain declining audience figures and low merchandise sales. The general public wanted to see behind the mask in Return of the Jedi, probably because they thought it'd be their last chance. They wanted to see the character's origins in the prequels, 'cause it was the whole point of buying a ticket. Both of those instances existed in isolation, when Star Wars was just a single movie every few years, and a total of six at most (not counting other media, since we're talking general audiences).

Don't get me wrong, I'd turn up for a Vader show, and would give it all my hopes, because I'm a big ol' nerd and it's too late for me. But looking at how Disney have used (and respected) the character up 'til now, I'm not sure current corporate thinking would allow for such an eventuality. Star Wars seems to be entering a less-is-more, quality-over-quantity phase. Nobody's gonna run Vader into the ground. Doing so might depreciate his long-term value.

I think the period of over-saturation was reached long ago* and we just ploughed on through.

    (*more than once. :p)
