I always saw the jedi as flawed anyway so the Acolyte narrative didn't trouble me at all

It's similar to TPM like that.

@I Are The Internets if you go into it expecting fan-fiction, you might not be let down.

Actually thinking of it … it is almost ridiculous we‘ve never really seen the Jedi vs Sith war. Was there even one in DSW? Or were the Sith always just a secret cult in hiding? I mean … despite them really have a bad system of check and balances to protect their democracy (why does that suddenly seem so damned topical and zeitgeisty?) the Jedi should just avoid the two guys.

Would love to see the old Dark Lords of the Sith comic turned into a tv series.

but at this rate we’ll wind up hearing an announcement about some weird “Star Wars trilogy tv show” or other nonsense announced.
I’m gonna get like sally in the great pumpkin — Disney owes me restitution!

I wonder if they'd ever consider taking it back to the very roots of what inspired Star Wars, a weekly serial where every week ended in a cliff hanger?

Star Wars should double down on stories of threatened democracies. The franchise might actually become a vital educational tool for people during this time in our history when real Palpatines and real democratic vulnerabilities are gaining extraordinary power.

Really dislike the term fan fiction. That term should be reserved for tinpot YouTubers who feed on their own head canons

Everything Filoni has done is then fan fiction, everything Abrams has done is then fan fiction. These people are fans of the OT, are influenced by the OT and George Lucas, everything that has followed from other writers and directors is then fan fiction. You're spot on the term 'fan fiction' is an insult to every writer, professional or amateur, who works hard to create a continuation in a GFFA.

They say filoni gets sway with it as he worked directly under George... and these people are usually same ones who thought George needed help with dialogue

I know most fans are probably not terribly excited about DJ, but I would be genuinely interested in getting to know him better in a series. Have Benicio sit down with a screenwriter of his choice to develop the world and psyche of the character. TLJ's depiction of him was very brief and shallow anyway, so they could do whatever they please.

So just re-release them in theaters I suppose then

To be fair, for some of those it would be a compliment instead of an insult.... if they were a fan of Star Wars, they surely didn't show it.

Give them the Harry Potter treatment?
I kinda like that idea. Fill in some of the story between TPM and AOTC.

Rather than fans, I'd say they are the adoptive parents and caretakers of what was George's baby. There are good parents on this planet and there are bad ones. Those who successfully bond with their kids are the ones I'd call true parents. Star Wars has some of those.

I have to admit I am not thrilled with Star Wars and I think they need to just let it cool down for 10 years and not come out with anything. They need to move way forward, create new ships, characters, situations, weapons, without having to go back and use GL's stuff or variations of it. Star Wars feels so unoriginal now that I say whats the point. Every star wars show is about family, or someone wronged, or some faction claiming to be right but mess things up, and its just boring.

but that was the old EU too, new faction, new sith, who dies next.

I do think the sequel trilogy was lacking in new ship designs. The sith eternal ships were a missed opportunity. We got modified Star destroyers.

Really sad thing thing is the artbook shows that there were a lot of cool and creative designs proposed, but the higher ups chose the more familiar option almost every time.

But yeah, even in legends before the buy out, there was definitely a trend of increasing conservatism in design and reuse of iconic elements. Just compare Tales of the Jedi to Kotor, then compare that to SWTOR.

Still, I've had my time to make my peace with that fact, so I would still really like to see a sith wars show, even if I accept it is almost certainly going to be more SWTOR than TATJ.

The “higher ups” was JJ Abrams. His creativity knows many limits.

People just go on and on and on and on about characters and plots and whatever. They're missing the boat. The TV series are slow, lackluster, and rely too heavily on fan-service. They cost insane amounts of money, but the only action we have usually gotten were a few light saber fights. The space action is nonexistant on a franchise called STAR WARS. Andor is a spy thriller. The Mandalorian was originally a western, and then became a huge bore. Restore action and adventure or just stop making these shows. Heck, Skeleton Crew had the most fun trailer of any of them, because at least it looked like Star Wars, it looked like FUN!

I've been reading the current Titan Comics Conan: Battle for the Blackstone mini and I kinda want a Star Wars show like it.

Heroes from various ages of time some seperated by millennia are forced to work together to battle a common foe across time. The mystical way of time travel that was already pre-established in Robert E. Howard's Kings of the Night, could work well in Star Wars if done right. Don't do anything really with the WBW but have it related to the force.

I think the foe should be something Rakata related on Tatooine and have the leads be BoBF era Boba, Obi-Wan sightly after the show, ST Luke (I hate the sequels be seeing an older Luke meeting a younger Obi-Wan could be fun), with a couple other non-force characters for varities sake. With the end result being that Tatooine is allowed to finally heal from the from the damage the Rakata did to it eons ago.
