If they first hire Bob James to write the theme song, the rest of the pieces will simply fall into place.

....I mean, I don't think even the worst of the star wars shows can be accused of lacking in good action. Like, Mando season 3 may have been the least of the Mando shows, but that wasn't because of the action. Honestly, it was far and away the best mando season on that front - some amazing dogfights against both pirates and imperials, the Mando vs pirate ground battle, the reclaiming of Mandalore (even if the space part was sadly cut short compared to what was in the concept art), even the much maligned jetpack chase of the dragon-thing was exciting and visually impressive - there were some shots that really captured the chaotic feel of ariel combat much better than any other jetpack scene I can remember.

Similarly, even many people who disliked the Acolyte appreciated the well choreographed fight scenes.

    This is the way.

Hmm....I kinda doubt the MAGA or Progressives will sit down and watch Star Wars and say....HMM....maybe we should change our ways.

Obviously that’s not what I meant, but you know that. It’s a long-term thing. I actually learned some valuable lessons regarding power and humility from being a Tolkien fan from a young age, and even some things from Star Wars along similar lines. They had a proper influence on what I decided to study and do later in life, and how to act responsibly and empathetically. And so yeah, I think big franchises with large audiences should consider their social impact. And watching stories, from an early age, about the fragility of democracies and the need to remain vigilant in defending them from demagogues, could certainly be instructive. At the very least, they could help young people spot those demagogues.

What I learned from Tolkien at a young age is that the House of Rohan is but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek and their brats roll on the floor with the dogs.

Star Wars too, taught me this and I hope it continues in future television endeavours.

I read 'The Hobbit' back in 1977. Got bored half way through and went to the cinema instead.

Watching The Hobbit cartoon as a five year old inspired me to hone a pretty good Glenn Yarbrough impression.

I grew up on the animated Hobbit and LOTR movies and I read The Hobbit at age 5/6. I even have the soundtracks on LP for those movies.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit curious about what Cosmic Marvel said over in that cesspool of bigotry, but I can live with these cryptic posts.
You do make it sound like Mandoverse is gonna carry on for a while though, so I'm guessing that's the gist of it.

I just assumed this was referring to Ahsoka S2 but upon closer inspection it says "new spin-off," and that it's filming in "late 2025." This article which I believe Fred posted the other day in another thread says Ahsoka S2 is gonna start filming in April 2025. So I guess Filoni is going to go right from Ahsoka S2 to this new project without so much as taking a breather.

    Oh, thanks a bunch!
    Interesting [face_thinking]

I know! It's a show called Concord Dawn, starring Kevin McKidd as Fenn Rau.
It could also be called Journeyman/Journeymen and not be tied to Fenn's home planet but follow him around the galaxy.

If Filoni is working on a different show. Im going to bet it related to Rebels. Maybe one of those characters getting a show.

like Sanford and Son. Watto and son?

I like Filoni — I really do — but I don’t want another show based on Rebels characters. I enjoyed Ahsoka — but thought it was going to focus on — Ahsoka. I really loved what we got, but I don’t want Rebels or Clone Wars 3.0/4.0/5.0.

I want shows that feel fresh like Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, The Mandalorian (when it started) or the first half of Book of Boba Fett. Even parts of Andor.

nothing tied to the skywalker saga or as a setup to explain the sequel trilogy, or a show around character X for a backstory.

another point in time in history, a new conflict, a new adventure. Marvel, Dark Horse and Bantam did this for years.

one of the most disappointing comic reads was Shadows of the Empire: Evolution. When I read it in ‘98, I was ready for an interesting take on Guri and her wanting to wipe Xizor’s memories from her memory bank. And then — I see panels not just with Luke but the whole gang — Luke, Lando, Leia, Han, Chewie and the droids. As if the whole family got in the car to park in the panels of what could have been a great (albeit not necessary but interesting) story.

    ok I’m done.

Love it or not (I obviously do), all of Andor felt fresh for Star Wars. That’s just a fact. None of it felt like any Star Wars we’ve gotten before. Indeed, that’s what a number of fans complained about.

agreed — it felt fresh — but it’s still a story that we know. We know how it all ends, despite the drama that unfolds. Cassian’s fate — Mon Mothma’s — it’s predetermined. The journey is something we haven’t seen all of.

Knowing how a story ends has no bearing on its freshness for me. I knew how the prequels ended and, like them or not, they were definitely a new, fresh take on Star Wars.
