This was probably one of my favorite shows as a kid. I had all of the action figures, too. I remember one of my favorite episodes was when all of the gargoyles were turned into humans, and I believe Bronx became a dog.

So what are the comics about so far? Are they worth it?

Well, I am a HUGE fan of Gargoyles. I'd say it's definitely worth it. ;)

The comics pick up right after the "Hunter's Moon" episodes of the second season of the cartoon. (They're totally disregarding the Goliath Chronicles episodes.)

The first two issues are an adaptation of the first Goliath Chronicles episode entitled "The Journey". The Gargoyles are in the after math of the whole Hunter's Moon battle and this new anti-Gargoyle group (The Quarrymen) rise up to fight for the human race.

And issue 3 starts a brand new story arc. It's the first issue of a 5 or 6 part story arc, so the story is still kind of being set up in issue 3. But, just in that one issue, we see the return of Martin Hacker, the Mutates (Talon, Maggie, Claw) and the Clones (Brentwood, Hollywood, Malibu, Burbank, Delilah) as well as a couple other characters. ;)

And the comics are written by Gargoyles-creator Greg Weisman himself!

This series looks like it's gonna be pretty awesome.

They should make Gargoyales into a live-action film. Jessica alba should play the Police Woman.

I kinda doubt that Gargoyles is going to become a live action film, but hey what am I to say?

i think you would at least need Jonathan Frakes and Keith David as Xanatos and Goliath.

Surprisingly, the creators and animators actually made a lot of the characters look similar to the actors that voiced them. They could use a lot of the same actors in a live-action film. ;)

I believe there was some talk about a live-action Gargoyles movie, but they quickly canned the idea when they figured it wouldn't be taken seriously. The concept works perfectly for a cartoon, but it doesn't work quite the same for a live-action film...unfortunately.

There was time when that would have been true, but with the success of movies like Spiderman and X-men inthe last five years, the idea of a live-action Gargoyles movie should be re-examined.

I think I still have my 1997 Gargoyles calendar hiding around somewhere...

I see a gargoyles movie being more like the new TMNT movie--CGI mixed with live action. Maybe get Henson to do a Farscape-esque job on it with puppetry?

No. Don't the puppet route. A CGI movie is probably the best way go. I've seen the new Turtles movie and the fight scenes are very impressive.

The Leo/Raph fight scene was the highlight of the film! I think it's one of the most under-rated movies this year.
