Jedifan, you don't know how much I'd love to take one of those home, but we have no room in this dinky apartment.

 

I have no idea how big they're gonna be either. I just hope the girl I'm fostering them for is able to find them a good home!!

 

Okay, these guys, I think I might be able to identify which breeds they are.

The blond one is definately at least half German Shepherd. The ears, face shape, and coloring on the muzzle is a dead giveaway. Does he have a long, 'fringed' tail, too, and a black 'sadddle' on his back? Expect him to be at least sixty pounds full grown; maybe bigger. Most full Shepherds grow to be about eighty pounds or more; about the size of one of your adult Labs.

The black one has a lot of Rottweiler in him; look at the predominantly black coat color and the gray leg markings. The white patch on the chest and white paws are the mark of a Pit Bull, but please don't let that scare you off. If treated right most Pit Bulls can be the sweetest dogs in the world. I don't know where the long muzzle comes from. Rotties have short muzzles, and for the most part, so do Pits. This guy will probably be about the size of my Annie-dog: forty-five to fifty pounds.

By the way, how big are the dogs now? From the picture they don't look tiny; My guess is they're both at least four months old. The Shepherd looks about six months old.

Oh, did they already have those collars on them? Are they ratty or like new? How do the dogs act? This might give you some idea of when the dogs either ran away or were dumped. I don't know, but this is my guess;

Judging from their 'skin-and-bones condition', as you describe it, a family probably bought them as little tiny pups not knowing they'd get big. When they grew they got rid of them, and the dogs were left to fend for themselves. They look very friendly from the photo, so they could even have run away and been living on the streets for a while.

At any rate, if you don't find home with them, please don't take them to the pound. I don't think you will, but I wanted to make sure. Big dogs are often the last ones to be adopted.

The reason I have them is so they don't go to the pound. Don't worry about that! Once I talk to their rescuer and see if she's got any good news about homes for them, I'm going to call my vet and see if what kind of deal he'd give me on these guys. If he's willing to work with me, I'd like to go ahead and get them neutered. I don't mind paying full price on my own dogs, but maybe he'll cut me a break on the two rescues.

They had no collars on and were amazingly clean. Probably cleaner than all of my mud dobbers, just dusty. They're both skin and bones and the big guy protects his food (I'm already working on that one with him). Starved and clean... I don't get it. The big guy might be 15lbs and the smaller one about 10 lbs.

They only have about half of their puppy teeth, so I'm guessing they're between 3 and 4 months. As much as the big eared guy looks like a shepard, I don't think he's gonna make it to 60 lbs. His feet are way too small. Actually, he looks like a miniature shepard. His big ol' ears crack me up! I'm used to floppy lab ears.

The little guy is a bit shy, but both are super friendly!! No manners, but sweethearts. Due to his build, I lean towards thinking he's got dobie in him rather than rottie. His white patch has black spots in it, too. I really don't see any pit, but who knows. His ears look like undocked dobie ears (the way they should look).

Thanks for taking an interest in them Carrie! I'll try to get some better pictures and keep you updated. I'd appreciate if you'd spread the word about them. They deserve a loving home! I look at my pups and see how fat, sassy, loved and safe they are and feel so bad that these little guys have probably never had any of that!

I can't help but take an interest. My Annie was a stray, and since we gave her away I felt so guilty and rotten- like I'd let her down -that now I've made up my mind to help whatever animals I can, even if it's indirect.

PAL didn't call me back at all, and Petsmart isn't going to be hiring until October for the Christmas rush.

 

Those pups are so cute. We already have 3 dogs, so we can't take any. You have such a HUGE heart, Kari. I hope homes can be found for them, soon.

cool pics Mike- what was the name of the mueseum you went to?

 

museum of ancient life. it's at a place called thanksgiving point. I took several pics of this place. the museum has the largest collection of bones than anywhere in the country.

did you see our lovely car? oh yeah, the mill you see at the end of the pics for utah was where they filled the movie footloose back in the 80's. the couple with kids is my friend from high school. he's in the special forces. he just got back from the phillipines getting those pesky terrorist. he was hunting them down in the jungle. his unit actually made the news back in april / may.

the ski slope ride we took was at park city. this is where the winter olypics were held and where the sundance film festival is held each year. we were there with sheila's cousin and her boyfriend.


here's some pics from Montana. these are from sheila's sister's house where we did fireworks. the others were at her mom and stepdad's home. they've got a river that goes through their property. enjoy all the pics from the links i've put here for everything so far except oregon. that'll be up tomorrow. there's some really great shots with all these. so maybe if you guys can't sleep one night or got nothing to do, take a look see, there's some funny one too ofcourse. enjoy:

great pics. so were you guys in Helena? My dad's from Montana. We have family all over that state. It's so beautiful there!

 

we're house sitting one of Ry's therapists houses this weekend. I can see a lake when I look out the kitchen, living room or bedroom. It is so beautiful here! She lives in Temecula. We're taking care of her 3 dogs, 6 cats and a bird. I'm not an animal lover like many of you, but we're holding our own. I definitely would never own this many pets....dogs howling at night, cat walking on my head at night, bird ringing his bell all night. I'm enjoying the scenery, but am going to have to go home to get some sleep. Oh,yeah, her alarm clock went off at 3:45 am and I couldn't find the button to shut it off. I thought I shut it off in the dark, but then it went off again at 4 am, so that sucker got unplugged! lol Hope you guys are having a good weekend!

 

Poor JM!! You're quite a trooper to be taking care of that group!

As much as I love dogs, cats and most other critters, birds are not a favorite of mine. They're messy and not the most cuddly of creatures.

It would be a shame if the "cat accidentally got to the bird". Ha, ha, just kidding!! Although, you might be able to take the bell out of its cage. That might help your next few nights out a little.

 

hello everyone. as promised, my pics from oregon. we went to the second largest waterfall in the country, saw the spruce goose, went to the top of a volcano, went to oregon coast (newport beach), and went into a lava cave into complete darkness...very spooky indeed. here's some pics and ofcourse the link. makes sure to check these out as i've got some really great ones here. enjoy!

Okay, I think the shade of green on my face rival Master Yodas...and it's not from seasickness.

 

Had my training at the weekend for the Emmys. I'll be opening Limos for the stars and welcoming them etc and then directing them all on the way out to the Goverener's ball. Should be fun but it'll be a long day! Have to wear a bow tie, white gloves and a red blazer! Watch for me on TV!

 

We'll look forward to your report afterwards! How did you get hooked up with this gig Stuart?
