Is anyone else here more happy about the fact that GnR are moving on without Axl? I think he's like a time capsule of the anger he's had for all these years and he's so burned out that I don't think he's physically, psychologically or emotionally capable of being a Gunner any more and I'm glad to see changes

Of course I like his lyrics and all and Guns N Roses is my favorite band next to Led Zeppelin but I think Axl was best on the GnR albums that already out rather than what more he can do. I'm glad to see the other Gunners have changed with their style as well.

Velvet Revolver is great. They understand how music has changed and how they can put out good music that will still be popular.

But axl is axl and one day he'll drop chinese democracy and we'll see if he can make the change.

Even though I we all agree on our feelings about Axl, I do feel the need to defend him on some ignorant accusations, all of which(Along with the true ones) are used to judge the rest of the band as well which is one thing I hate.

For one thing Axl isn't racist. Slash is a black dude from England for cryin' out loud! If Axl was really racist then Slash wouldn't have even been in the band.

And Axl is no homophobe. The lyrics in One in a Million were referring to Axl almost being raped by some gay guy. He has a right to be shaken up emotionally because of that, anyone would. If a woman is raped by a guy then her hate for men is justified because she's 'Emotionally and psychologically shaken' but if a man is sexually harrassed by another man then he has no right to feel pissed about it?
By the way, one of his biggest inspirations is Elton John and he sang with Elton John on MTV if everyone knows their GnR history.

Let Axl explain it: One in a Million - Line by line. That site is my favorite GnR site too, very informative

the one thing out of many that i just do not understand is when axl and dizzy say that the ex-gunners did not want to grow as musicians, that they didn't want to change their style. ok, but why do they say they didn't want gn'r to become like the other bands and stay with the same style/music. thats their thing against the ex-gunners, well hey gn'r was and always would of been different from all of those other bands {posion, cough* cough poison}.

and velvet revolver is proving axl and dizzy wrong because with this band they have changed a little with their music, not most because it still kicks ass.

Axl- The anti guns post i was referring to got mysteriously deleted. It said:

    "They sucked"

Anyway, glad to see this thread is getting life to it. Long story behind it, but 'Used to love her' is the the current GN'R song I listen to the most. (November Rain is still Prolly my favorite song ever)

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
    I had to put her
    Six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
    I knew I miss her
So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my back yard

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
    She *****ed so much
    She drove me nuts
And now I'm happier this way

I used to love her, but I had to kill her
I used to love her, but I had to kill her
    I had to put her
    Six feet under
And I can still hear her complain

Seriously, what guy can't relate to that song at some point in his life? :D

UH, as Slash said at one of their concerts (paraphrasing a bit, its on the Live Era CD)

"We all have those times where you have that girlfriend who doesn stop, and you just wanna cut her ****ing head off

"Bitchin' fussin' pissin'"...You believe Axl had a problem with a girlfriend's pissing?

I'm sure Slash may have said that, but that doesn't mean anything. The song was meant to have a double meaning, I'm sure, but literally it's about his dog.

Edit: I retract my previous statement, think about the lyrics, man. DO YOU think that his dog "*****ed to much" and he "can still hear her complain"??

From Vh1.com (in the comments on the Live Era CD)

"The only time this dangerous edge became worrisome was when the band cut "I Used to Love Her," a catchy number that attracted the ire of many people because of its flip treatment of abuse in a relationship."

    *sigh*

If you must call me stupid to feel better about being wrong, go ahead. Yes, I know that ***** also means female dog, but in the context song, it doesnt, it means COMPLAIN. :D

Here's a fact you might not know, Slash did a guitar solo Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album, though i can't remmeber which song.

I heard about that. I believe the song was "beat it", because I also have heard that he played guitar on stage for Jackson on that song. Not sure, because i dont know Jackson's album, so i dont know if that song is even on the Bad album.

I'm just playing around V-wing- Don't get all bitchy! Seriously, I could be wrong, but I don't think that the fact that the very people he'd like to trick were tricked makes me wrong. There were protests against Elvis' devil hips, and even now, some on the religous right want Harry Potter banned because they say it's Satanic- That doesn't make it so.

I always thought it was a double meaning song, and anybody that has ever had a dog will assure you that sometimes they can be whiny and bitchy...it is where the word originated. Tie that in with the "pissin" comment, and that she's buried in the back yard(like most pets), and you can clearly see what I'm saying.

But maybe he and the rest of the band was just entirely behind the idea of killing women.Whatever.

Beat it was on thriller, and Eddie Van Halen played on that. Slash did do something o an MTV awards show though- I don't know about the Bad album-Probably.

:) My bad, i guess I overreacted. Maybe it does have a double meaning, but I always thought it was about killing a girlfriend.

    To quote Axl Rose:

"This'll be the last ****in Guns N' Roses show you will ever see unless some people in this organization dont stop dancing with Mr. God**** Brownstone."

    God bless 'em either way.
