I don't want to jump the gun because it's the Yankees and you've seen the back of the lineup's baseball cards, but they've suddenly forgotten how to hit a baseball.

If this is it, I don't actually hate these. It could have been so much worse.

That's all I want. That's the bare minimum to be a success.

Now, if they want to be awesome and turn the pants in to the cuyahoga river and let the jersey tops be flames? That's even better.

If they want to follow the Cavs lead and "connect" with a local landmark, like, say Cedar Point themed jerseys? Even more betterer.

But just, please. No Guitars.

 

Well I do want to jump the gun because the Cardinals just lost their last game ever in Oakland.

Failed to get a sweep against a team whose "major league" credentials are mostly mythical.

Failed to climb above .500 yet again.

Failed to climb out of the cellar in the NL central.

FAILED.

On the plus side, the Astros are worse.

 

My teams are generally performing as expect so far...Cubs look better than last year and ready to compete for an NL Central title (yes, I know it's an average division)...I knew the Rockies would be mostly losing.

 

mariners got off to a pretty terrible start both hitting and pitching, but things are starting to look up after a sweep of the reds.

I mean, it's the Reds.

 

The Astros are really off to a bad start this season and I really can't make heads or tails out of it. I mean, by gosh, The A's are currently ahead of them in the standings.

Twins are currently batting a collective .195 which is just an absolutely comedic degree of ineptitude.

Sox are one point ahead of us at .196. The AL Central is not good.

 

Evergreen statement

 

The Astros are 2nd in the AL in team OPS, but 6th in runs. And their team ERA is 5.39 but their FIP is 4.43. So they've been incredibly inefficient offensively and defensively. I imagine they will figure things out and still make the playoffs. But also, most of their starters are pitching over their heads and their bullpen might very well continue to be terrible.

only the Mets would take concrete as an inspiration for the primary color of their alt uniform.

Notes (mostly negative, sadly) :
The stylized pinstripes are a nice subtle touch.
The NY logo on the hat is superfluous with the Queensboro bridge being so prominent and NYC being displayed on the front of the jersey.
The bridge should extend around the entire circumference and not just the front. It's a big bridge with 4 towers, not 2. Make the most out of that space.
Concrete gray is an ever more boring and depressing color than flat gray and gray should be an away color.
I'm not sure the bright white pants work well with the concrete grey jerseys. But if the jersey has pinstripes, the pants should too. Poor matching.

 

The City Connects have been incredibly hit or miss in general, with the bad ones being absolutely horrendous. So this could have been so much worse.

They are not perfect, but they are better than most. The pants are an issue, but otherwise, I'm good with it.

I understand that the Yankees are waiting to show off their City Connects jerseys because they are going to be so amazing and phenomenal they didn't want to undermine the other teams' own excitement for their jerseys.

 

Mets have good momentum right now, whereas the Dodgers don't; good to see that Chris Taylor finally got a hit... hope it's not another 3+ weeks until his next one.

 

Taylor's hit in a big moment to snap a 31 at bat hitless streak against the Mets was the single most obvious moment of the season.

Amazing.

 

Today is a big day.

If MIL sweeps STL, I expect there to be job openings tomorrow.
