A solid end to a fantastic first season.

There was a lot I liked in this episode. The opening scene with the scout troopers was great and it made me realize something. I have criticized how the ST has made a joke out of the First Order and how, because of that, I can't take them seriously as a threat. It made me pause for a second when I realized I was enjoying the opening scene so much and I wondered what the difference is. I think that you can have the grunts be comic relief as much as you want, but the higher ups need to be taken seriously. Moff Gideon is a badass and that's all I need.

Speaking of which... Gideon has become my fabourite officer out of the Disney era. Heck, he might be my favourite officer period. And now he has the kriffing darksaber! It makes me wonder if we might see a lightsaber duel next season. Maybe a long shot, but we know that there are at least some "sorcerers" out there that he might have to contend with.

I liked the way they worked around showing the Mando's face (I guess I can call him Din Djarin now!) without having him break his oath. It didn't feel like cheating the way similar things sometimes do e.g. Mara killing Luke's clone so she could get the revenge out of her system.

I was kind of saddened that the Mandos appear to be decimated. Hopefully, there are still a significant number of them out there.

Now I just wonder who the mystery man at the end of Episode 5 was supposed to be. Will that be saved till next season?

Either way, I cannot wait for next season! This is the way. :boba:

Oh my goodness, that was so good! We got to see Mando's full backstory, Death Watch, his face, the Darksaber!

I mean wow, just a great way to end season 1. Sure this show has a TON of fan service but the fan service is not detrimental to the plot unlike parts of the ST.

I REALLY am looking forward to season 2, Gideon is going to be one of the classic Star Wars villains. Fingers crossed for a Luke or Boba cameo and who knows what else we will get.

This show made me love Star Wars again after the ST was hit and miss for me. I am looking forward to re-watching the entire season this weekend!

I could quibble about babysitter droid rushing into battle with baby but that's the whole season. What a great show! Also: lava river effects have improved significantly since Revenge of the Sith.

I loved how Din flew away at the end carrying The Child like he was carried in the flashback. Also funny how Din's actor spoiled the characters name months ago.

When I saw this episode I just thought of the people in charge, sitting in a room, deciding the story by playing with old kenner toys. Have ig88 with yoda in backpack on a speeder bike killing stormies heading to boba fett, leia and lando(or han) while vader has them pinned down. That is all I saw, this episode gave me serious esb vibes.

I need 3 3/4" figures of Din (removable helmet), The Child, ig11, Cara, the girl mando, gideon with darksaber, greef carga, and all the episode 6 aliens.

Seriously wow... such a great series and I want my toys asap.

I feel like a five year old again. Every scene in this episode has me going "and then! And then! And then!" In my brain like I'm playing with action figures. The whole IG-11 storming in on the speeder sequence was top-tier. Just flat out good old fashioned Star Wars fun.

I can't even process all the big moments I loved from this episode, there's just a ridiculous amount of them. I do have to say I didn't really like that IG-11 died. I get it, but I was getting attached to him. I also don't like that Cara and Greef stayed behind. I'd have liked to have seen them traveling with Dyn next season. Oh well. Still.

DYN JARREN. We know his name and have seen his face! And he has a friggen jetpack! And a signet! Yaaaaaas!

Sorry. I'll see myself out... and off to pre-order some Mando toys!

Amazing episode. The IG-11 and Baby Yoda speeder scene was amazing. Seeing Deathwatch and the darksaber onscreen was awesome. With Dave Filoni you always get great season finales.

I wonder if they are going to incorporate Rebels characters into this show? The Darksaber being in this show and the timing of the series lines up with the end of Rebels.

I hate that I'm not as enthusiastic about this show as the rest of y'all. I enjoyed the episode well enough, but I didn't think it did a good job of paying off the rest of the season at all. I was really hoping this episode would make sense of some of the dangling threads, but it mostly just bypassed all of them.

When that trooper at the beginning hurt Baby Yoda... never have I been so eager to see a stormtrooper die.

Oddly, they brought Hamill in for an episode of Forces of Destiny:

Flashback for Gideon where is on Mandalore, Bo Katarn comes in, and he fights her, taking Dark Saber? He could kill her or just leave her alive as a prisoner to enter the series later.

I hope Bo Katan isn't dead, and Gideon just took the Darksaber as a prize or something. I so want her to show up in live action played by Katee Sackhoff.

Though I guess they could still have her in flashbacks.

As I haven't seen CW/Rebels in a long time, can someone please remind me on what happened and what the deal was with the Purge, Darksaber history, Mandalore etc. etc?

I remember stuff happening with Maul and Mandalore being involved, as well as Sabine having the Darksaber, but everything seems blurry now.

    Thank you so much!

Loved the ending. The last shot is one of the most epically beautiful shots in SW to me. This team needs to do more SW. They get it.

The darksaber was created by the first Mandalorian who became a Jedi thousands of years ago.

Edit: The saber was stolen from the Jedi Temple by Mandalorians after the Jedi's death and eventually it became a rule that whoever holds the darksaber has the title of Mandalore and rules over Mandalor.

In the Clone Wars there two groups the pacifists who are the main government, they don't fight or wear armour. I'm not sure if this is canon but I'm pretty sure after losing a war like a thousand years ago the Republic reorganised them into pacifists so they wouldn't fight anymore. The other group in the Clone Wars is Deathwatch who want to return to the old ways with fighting and wearing armour and stuff. The leader of Deathwatch Pre Vizsla weilded the darksaber and was voiced by Jon Favreu. This was the group that adopted the Mandalorian and Maul was this group's leader for a while. After the Clone Wars most Mandalorian's reverted back to the old way.

We don't know the full details of the purge but basically the Mandalorian's fought back against the Empire who took their world and got beat. Moff Gideon took the darksaber from Bo Katan.

The Darksaber went from Pre Vizsla (Recovers it) > Maul (Kills Vizsla in combat) > Sabine (Steals it from Maul) > Bo Katan (Given to by Sabine) > Moff Gideon

The Great Purge happened at some point after Rebels likely in response to the Mandalorian Civil War. The Darksaber was crafted by the only Mandalorian Jedi and became a symbol of House Vizsla. It was in possession of Pre Vizsla during the Clone Wars until he was defeated by Maul. Sabine Wren then found the Darksaber and used it during the opening stages of the Mandalorian Civil War and defeated Gar Saxon with it. She then gave it to Bo Katan who united the various clans under her leadership. That's the last we saw of it until now.

8/10. Baby Yoda is injured, I want her/him to get proper care! Interesting to see the dark saber. Next season's quest will be to find the Jedi most likely. Love Taika Waititi - the opening dialogue between the scout troopers was hilarioius.

The Purge was something created for this show, so you know as much as we do. The rest has been covered by BalanceOfTheForce.

The saber was kept in the Jedi Temple after Tarre Vizsla died, until members of his house broke in and stole it.
