I use to think since general veers's helmet resembled vaders, he was trying to copy darth vader, i use to get so mad at him, i hated him, and i use to for some reason think palpatine himself was called The Empire

Thought Vader died from only losing his robotic hand
    Stormtroopers were robots
    Lifesavers
I thought the death star was a real planet
Thought Han died at end of ESB
Thought Yoda and Jabba were really just muppets.
Thought that Cloud City was on Earth.
And I also thought Han sliced open the Taun-Taun to feed Luke the organs.

My parents took me to see Star Wars when I was about five. It was my first movie in a movie theater.

I was blown away by that opening scene. I also beleived that the stormtroopers were robots, and so was Vader.

At the end of Star Wars, when the rebels are receiving there medals, I thought for sure that the actors were receiving medals for having done such a great job, I couldn't understand why my parents wanted to sit through this boring part, in my eyes the movie was long over and we should be leaving.

Off topic a little, does anyone remember listening to a radio drama version of ESB. It was the early 80's I was maybe 6 or 7, it was the coolest thing ever.

Until I read the script from ANH I though Leia said "they're on Tatooine" when she gives Tarkin a fake location of the rebel base.

I saw ROTJ before ESB and I always remembered when R2 fired the lightsabre out of himself.

So when Luke used the Force to call it to him in the Wampa cave, I thought R2 was under the snow, and Luke was trying to wave to get his attention!

    I was only 5!

I'm another Stormtroopers were robots guy.
    Lightsabers were lifesavers, yeb.

I think my best one is that in ESB at the end of the duel I thought Luke had just put his hand in his sleeve to trick Vader, but he slipped and fell before he could kill him. So I could never understand the rest of the movie, with the robotic hand and all.

    I had many of the misconceptions already mentioned. Obi-Wan & Luke's saber being the same one, and the DSII being the remains of DS1. Some that I have not seen mentioned are;

    1) I thought the line was "while we make the calculations for the JUMBO light speed.

    2) When Han is having his "boring conversation anyway" I thought the voice at the other end said "who is sending this quadrant" instead of "we're sending a squad up"

    3) I also thought Han said "largely very dangerous" instead of "large leak, very dangerous"

Harrison Ford spoke far too quickly and unclearly sometimes I feel.

Also, In ESB, I was convinced that Vader killed lots of Admirals after a failure and then promoted a new Captain each time.

An example of this is that when Captain Needa died I thought it was Piett, and when he then says "don't fail me again..... Admiral, I thought this meant another Captain getting the dreaded Admirals job.

Here's a funny one, and I think it was between seeing Ben and Vader's duel in ANH when I was six and reading/seeing some pictures in a book about the making of the movie. I used to think after I first saw the movie that when Vader struck Obi-Wan, that when the cloak fell, that Obi-Wan escaped through a trap door right under the cloak and that he was all right, that he wasn't gone. Hehehe-told you it was funny. That's the only misconception I think I ever had when I was a kid.

With me, I was under the misconception that Obi-Wan and Luke used the same lightsaber. I thought he gave it to him and then took it back because Luke wasn't ready to wield it against a stormtrooper. It wasn't until the visual dictionary came out years later that I realized that they each had their own saber. I also thought that the Red Royal Guards were like Force-Sensitive stormtroopers because they carried the vibro-lance.

I first saw ESB on a copied tape which also had foot loose on it. It was the only star wars i had ever seen so when my older brother got the Rancor toy I was convienced that it was the space worm in ESB (you just couldn't see the body in the movie.

I also thought lightsaber was light-saver because he used it to defend the light side of the force (and I didn't know what saber meant.

    I used to think that:
#1- The second Death Star was actually first one, and the rebels didn't blow it up all the way in ANH.
#2- I thought the Emperor was Vader's father

Sounds like we all had very si,ilar misconceptions.

Yes, I thought Darth Vader was Dark Vader (because of his dark outfit). Also thought that the Stormtroopers were droids, and of course that Luke and Leia would fall in love and be together. And of course I thought that "Dark" Vader was killed by Han in the attack on the Death Star. Oops, almost forgot... I thought Obi-Wan was Old B1 (the B stood for Ben) :D

I always thought the Clone Wars started because people started making clones of each other, everyone involved had a clone, and everyone fought themselves. I also thought the Jedi were just wandering knights, I didn't think of them as having an order. I also used to think that Jabba was on Endor, was some kind of tribal leader, and Luke and everyone needed his help to fight the Empire. (I caught bits and clips of it at a Thanksgiving at my uncle's.)

Remember that first scene with all the Star Destroyers and Imperial March theme, followed by a close up of Vader's masked face looking out the window?

For some reason, when I was a very young child (3 or 4) and I saw this for the first time, I thought that among all those Star Destroyers, they actually made a capital ship that was a giant replica of Darth Vader's mask.

I had some really wierd name misconceptions (as well as some miscillanious stuff) when I was young that even fallows up to TPM. Here they are:

    1. For one I thought it was Bulbber Fat instead of Boba Fett. When I saw it written in the Star Wars Visual Dictionary, I was confused.
    2. I thought the Red Imperial Guards were Vader's friends.
    3. Qui-Gon Jinn's name was Quee-Jon Ginn.
    4. Anakin's name was spelled Anikan.
    5. Shmi's name was Shmee like the guy in Peter Pan.
    6. Jar-Jar had a speech impariment.
    7. Jabba the Butt, lol!
    8. Ben was really Obi-Wan's first name.
    9. Obi-Wan was spelled Obi-One.
    10. Ken-No-bee
    11. Amidala was Padme's real name

I was about 8 when I saw the original Star Wars on video with my cousins when me and my family stopped over for winter. I kinda rememeber my first experiences watching them. For some reason, the Star Wars movies were really fast ( all three) so I had to make up some reasons for what was happening.
I thought R2D2 was a real robot the film had made. It wasn't until I saw a behind the scenes doc that I found out who was really in R2!
I also thought that Stormtroopers were robots as was Darth Vader. When I saw ESB my brother pointed out that he was human when he was in his meditation chamber. That scene was creepy when I was a kid, and it still retains that to this day.
I was confused at the Dagobah scene when the head came out of Vader's helmet. I still don't know whose face that is suppost to be, though I first thought, when I was a kid, that it was Leia's and the lesson that Yoda said to him was that if he went down the dark side he was going to hurt Leia in some way! By the way can someone tell me whose face it is? Is it Anakin's or Luke's?

I used to think that in one of the films, Luke is in the cockpit of his X-Wing, waiting for the techs to put R2 into the back, and 3PO comes along to say goodbye, and says something along the lines of "Please, come back, R2... Without you, who am I going to yell at?"(Classic!)

Years ago, I reviewed the OT-VHS, the SE-VHS, and even more recently, the OT-DVD, but nothing even remotely similar is anywhere to be found.

So, to come to my point, Is there a line like that in the dreaded Holiday Special?

One thing when I was little I thought Lando was saying when Chewie was choking Lando.

    "HAGH....hagh...hagh...HAGH."

    "It sounds like Han!"

"I just need a chance to say HAGH!"
