What if as long as a Skywalker lives, Palpatine's spirit will forever live on because he placed a curse on the entire lineage. So Kylo asks Rey to kill him so he can break the curse.

Also, Leia may die in the film as well.

 

Not sure how Leia can die without Carrie to film it. unless its off screen but then would that be considered disrespectful?

 

I recall in the visual dictionary for TFA that it was illegal for anyone in the First Order to speak Kylo Ren's real name/allude to his heritage, so presumably they'd have to know in the first place to violate that law. However, that's a detail tucked away in a book to be read by kids and like eight adult nerds, so I doubt the canon is married to it. General Hux definitely seems to know, since he needles Kylo over his personal vendetta against Luke. Within the Resistance, I'd guess at least Poe probably knows who he is.

 

Just because they are 'together' doesn't mean they have to be together. Leia may need Rose for another task that's equally important.

 

My money on something like that happening.

Kylo dying should be considered as a possibility, no doubt about it.

 

Why not fully develop that relationship using as much screentime with each other as possible?

People complained about the lack of chemistry and development of their relationship in TLJ. Those complaints will continue if they're separated for a majority of the film.

So according to Jason’s podcast, we’ll probably have at least an explanation for why Ben turned to the Dark Side. I’ve always believed that he didn’t turn only because mum wasn’t enough at home or because Luke made a mistake. I’m sure we’ll learn that there’s more to the story than that, and that it will be heavily related to Palpatine.

He also says that Han knew or at least understood what Kylo would do... Interesting choice of words.

And finally Kylo may die because of « something that Rey will do » (if she kills him,why not just say « she kills him »?), but it may not be forever, and it might even be a part of Kylo’s « plan » . The plan he had at this right moment, or the plan he had when he turned to the Dark side. Again, a very interesting choice of words!

I don’t believe for one second that Kylo will die and become a Force ghost like Vader. Jason mentioned a « twist »; Kylo becoming a Force ghost would not be a twist but the logical following to a redemptive death. Maybe we’ll think he’s dead but in fact he won’t be. That can really be as simple as that. Or things can also be very complicated.. isn’t there a thing in Clone Wars with Ashoka brought back from the dead ?

Maybe Kylo's plan could be to bring a 'dead' loved one from the past back to life which is why he fell to the dark side to begin with. Complete what grandpa started. Who later turns out to be in a bit of irony, Rey, his sister. Every other major character has gotten blame for why Ben fell to the dark side...except Rey. Yet.

 

Interesting take. I could see that working, but are you saying maybe he brought younger Rey back to life and then dumped her on Jakku?

 

In terms of Rey and Kylo...This might seem way out there...but WHAT IF: We get the opposite of Obi-wan and Anakin in ROTS. Obi-wan leaves Anakin for dead and then Palpatine shows up like Death on the River Hades to 'revive' him. Anakin then spends the next 20 years in the dark suit. That could almost be seen as a mistake on Obi-wan's part too. He either should have killed Anakin or helped his brother. So ...what if...TROS fixes that mistake. Kylo gets injured in their fight and instead of leaving him for dead, Rey takes him, saves him from that fate. The mask (Vader/Kylo/Darkside) now comes off and Ben returns.

Not saying I like this...just saying what if.

 

Making Rey Kylo’s lost sister would be already weird enough considering there’s nothing attesting that Han and Leia ever lost a child or abandoned one (for protecting her as I’ve read... on Jakku! Yeah sure). But Kylo turning with the purpose of resurrecting this not really dead sister would be imo the weirdest of the weird. Thanks the Force Abrams doesn’t do fan fiction.

Édit: I actually believe Pablo Hidalgo on this one. It makes much sense since Kylo discussed it with Snoke, before witnessing Rey’s awakening to the Force in live.

 

I don't think he has anything to do with that unless the present Kylo pierces the veil of time and makes a change in the past like Ezra did in grabbing Ahsoka into the future. That part is a bit far out. But I'm speaking in terms of what motivated his original feelings of darkness that got him sent away and what's motivating him to do stuff now.

It's better than arguing what man's lust object and conquest Rey is going to be when she finally gives in to him. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

Okay, I wasn't sure if I was reading that right. So maybe he went to the Dark side with the intention of learning to bring someone back, and he ends up using it on Rey, who happens to be his sister? Idk how I feel about her owing him that one, but I definitely still can't completely let go of the siblings idea. Do you think he was planning on bringing Vader back? Maybe he tries but accidentally raises Plapy. I think that could actually work, though I'm sure I've seen that in a comedy before Maybe that's what Luke saw...

 

This movie sounds very interesting and sounds like they look to get deep into the whole dark side thing.
@DarkGingerJedi interesting point. Not sure what they'd do with Ben once he turned back from darkness but interesting idea nevertheless.
@MagnarTheGreat another interesting point about Kylo turning to the dark side to learn about bringing back those who died. However, unless there's someone else, the person he'd want to bring back is Han who HE killed. And we didn't get any indication that Snoke knows anything about bringing back the dead.

 

But why bother? They have had a time skip of about a year...Finn goes off on a mission, he hugs and then kisses Rose goodbye. Job done, they are a couple...on with the action.

 

Because it's so poorly done it adds nothing to the story for either character and in your version has little to no impact on the story at large. So, honestly, best to just leave them as friends and have no romance at all rather than try and shoehorn in one that just dosen't work.

 

If she dies, she would vanish into the Force like Luke, Yoda, and Obi-Wan did. So she could have a conversation with Rey, say goodbye, and then vanish. She could also be at the base giving them orders, says goodbye, do a few things, and then if the base gets attacked by Kylo or the Knights of Ren, before they reach her she could vanish. There's bound to be shots of her looking concerned that they didn't use in TFA. She'll never get run thru with a lightsaber or just randomly blow up, but there are ways for her story to end while also contributing to the plot.

 

I disagree that a romance between them wouldn’t bring anything. Finn was a kid who was kidnapped by the FO and has thus no family. Finding love will allow him to have a new family. It could have been with Rey, and I understand that some are upset because in TFA their relationship was more developed than Finn and Rose’s, but there was no kiss or declaration of love, while Rose kissed Finn. It’s probably as silly as that. And I suspect that JJ won’t develop the romance because he had more important subjects to focus on than Finn’s romance with Rose.

How ironic, when one thinks of it, that the two most popular shippings (Reylo and FinnRey) won’t make their way in the ST, while one of the less popular will...

 

I'm still not so sure we're getting FinnRose, at least going by the way John and Kelly were answering questions at Celebration. But going by Daisy's interviews, I don't think Rey is ending up with anyone either. Honestly, I would not be disappointed if everyone just stayed single and remained friends.

In regards to the whole Force Flash fighting, didn't Jason say it supposedly happens when the lightsabers clash? Could the force flashing be because of the legacy saber? When Rey touched it the first time is when she had her Forceback.

 

I think maybe Kylo's turn to the darkside had something to do with Palpatine and his redemption does as well. Perhaps his "death" is one where everyone thinks he is killed in an act of sacrifice to defeat Palpatine for good (along with Rey) and the last scene if the film is a very much alive Kylo staring at the twin suns or something to that effect. Part of this is just my own speculation on what should happen though, I've pretty much expected a living/redeemed but exiled Ben Solo since watching TLJ.
