Rumblewagon's post reminded me writer Henry Gilroy once posted here on Ahsoka's previous outfit, and thanks to my absurd memory for words and Google I managed to it dig up. It's in the Cargo of Doom review thread, can't seem to link to the specific post. http://boards.theforce.net/live_action_clone_wars_classics/b10467/30464234/

Now, take a wild guess who wrote that particular comic series. "Sorry, pervs" indeed, though some of the credit of course goes to the artists for drawing it like that.

Regardless, that apparently kills my attract younger audience idea, though I have an extremely hard time believing they didn't make the connection between throwing a teenage girl in a tube top and miniskirt into a war and empathy from younger audiences. Even the way he describes her ("just a teenage girl") makes her sound like an audience stand-in. She certainly contrasts and she's certainly open though, I'll give him that.

I recommend you avoid the Dalish camp as the camp sentry is wearing a leather sports bra and miniskirt for armor :p Overall DA is a really good example of women wearing functional clothing, excepting Morrigan anyway.

Not that I've seen, but I was avoiding the internet fandom during the prequel years.

After reading the last bunch of posts, the only thing I've gotta say is: We need more shirtless Obi-Wan. Let's even the score a little. Maybe Anakin in some speedos.

Yeah. I can sort of defend the new outfit -having yet to see the episodes in which she's in, I don't know if it'll accompany a growth in character as well; if it does, then depending on the changes, it might seem more acceptable- but seriously, that picture is absolutely terrible and I don't know what artist thought it was a good idea to stick it in an official comic book. It looks like something I'd expect to see as a disturbing fan drawing.

Ahsoka does look older. I'd like it if they gave us an official time on this episode -she looks like she's at least 16, probably going on 17, to me, if we're equating Togruta growth to humans, but that would make it in the latter half of the war.

I see your point there, rumblewagon, but for me that slave outfit is sort of apples and oranges.

Admittedly we aren't being presented with this new outfit as something ~*sexxxy*~. It's just her regular clothes and presumably there won't be much commentary on it. As I understand the story, though, the slave outfit is, well... meant to be sexy, arousing, appealing, etc. because they're trying to pass her off as a slave to be sold.

There's also a LARGE difference between sexualizing someone before or after they start displaying those secondary sexual characteristics in earnest. Not that it's really good either way, but to me it's certainly more disturbing when a young girl who essentially has the body of a child is sexualized. Gives me the heebiejeebies!

I like the way you think!

I thought this was the Ahsoka thread, not the "Does Ahsoka's outfit make her look sexy?" thread.

Ahsoka shouldn't have bothered even dealing with Aura herself. All she had to do was tell Skyguy that Aura was gonna kill Padmé and he'd get Aura like a Rokarian dirt fish!

In fact, I'm surprised Anakin didn't pay Aura and Ziro a nice visit in their cells for trying to kill Padmé.

Also, isn't it odd that Ahsoka and Obi-wan use mind tricks, as did Qui-Gonn, but Anakin never does either as Anakin or as Vader? And neither does Yoda.

Admittedly, since this is a major costume change, I think that discussion of this and the larger issues that are underlying some of her portrayals are important to discuss.

But this is part of the much larger conversation that's going on, and it is sort of tangential back and forth. Perhaps I should actually start a thread about feminist issues in TCW, eh? :p

More? I must say that i didn't know there is shirtless Obi-Wan somewhere in TCW[face_laugh] ... not that i would care anywayo_O ... Anakin is seen shirtless in the movies so perhaps they will make model for that- i'm always happy when they show need animation models -shirts or not... but then- you want topless men- to even the score completely equally[face_thinking] - shouldn't we also see topless women:p.... still i don't want to see Obi-Wan in tubetop either[face_sick] ... damn this thread is getting weirder than weirder[face_laugh]

But Ahsoka's outfit is part of her personality so it definitely belongs to this thread... or do you think there should be own thread for Ahsoka's outfit, her lightsaber, her personality, her physical appearance? etc.8-} No way- we cannot have separate threads for everything "Lott Dod's hat" thread would not be very interesting either. But i agree if you meant that discussion has gone too far.... still for once someone is discussing about another Ahsoka-issue than her death....
"apples and oranges"... that was neat[face_laugh] .... but it may be better if i won't tell associations that phrase gave me:D ... we already had enough discussion of Ahsoka's "oranges" earlier.... i apologize my dirty imagination[face_pig]

She looks like she's imitating Ventress or something. The exposed portion of her chest and back, the two belts around her hips coming off at angles, the dual lightsabers. It all rings out Ventress to me.

You deserve a resurrection spell for going there. Unfortunately, Star Wars does not have easily accessible resurrection spells, so the best thing I can do is send you to EU limbo, where you will inevitably become a prominent character in the next 'obscure behind the scenes' novel they write. On that note, I wonder if Ahsoka will go through that indignity. :p

Interesting episode, they really are working the Padme and Ashoka relationship.

I think the new outfit is a huge improvement. In general parents, and casual fans just checking the show out will take her more serious now and will hardly take a second glance at her clothing. I would prefer slightly less skin in the back, Yet in watching the episode there is definitely a sense of "less" skin showing as most images are from the front any way and the leggings are dark enough and the cut outs on side do not look that risque. This is less "sexualized" then is the norm and accepted it seems for what my daughter and son watched growing up on television/movies etc over the past 20 years for a 15 - 16 year old character (think Ariel). As a parent personally I was much more aghast at the dancing part of the previous episode then Ashoka's new attire.

I really don't see the correlation to Anakin in the outfit. I am unsure how I feel about the two sabers, time will tell there, but how many "good" Jedi use two sabers???? other then EU? I don't remember any other the Anakin for a short period of time in one battle.

What this episode did though is it introduced Ashoka starting to think more about what is going on around her and begin to wonder about the roll of the Jedi and the Republic in the war. IT also shows her breaking away from Anakin even more.

I didn't like the part where the boy obviously "checks" her out. This I am guessing is going to lead to Ashoka having a emotional (have we even see Anakin and Padme kiss?) relationship with a boy, I am conflicted about this, I don't see it as a major problem, but do understand and partially agree with the sentiment that GL could develop her character just fine with out inserting a "love" interest for Ashoka. Though I feel if there is a "love" interest it will be used more as a vehicle for exploring Ashoka's attachment issues rather then supplying Ashoka with a partner.

Hmmm....[face_thinking] New Separatist character introductions... A Padme/Seperatist friendship angle... A potential Ahsoka love-interest development...

    Fast>>>Forward to ROTS...
Anakin being asked to spy on Palpatine, then later telling Obi-wan that he feels that the 'Jedi ARE evil..'

    <<<Rewind back to TCW<<<

Could it be possible...the JC asking Ahsoka to use her influence (via a certain personal involvement) to obtain info/intel about the Separatists... perhaps eliciting a not-so-favorable response from either her or Anakin, subsequently putting her directly in harm's way by subjecting her to being inside the proverbial belly'o'the'beast??? Could the story play-out like that??? If it did, might it be the unravelling of the very scenario that gets her killed???

This episode was interesting to me on so many levels.

Oh and I dig her new diggs

Yeah, it's interesting that Ahsoka is getting so much closer to the person that IS closest to Anakin (aside from Obi-wan and Palpatine). Also, Ahsoka's newly developed "political intrigue" could very well set the stage for the unfolding of events that I mentioned in my above post as well as being mentioned later in this post.

I really don't see the correlation to Anakin in the outfit. I am unsure how I feel about the two sabers, time will tell there, but how many "good" Jedi use two sabers???? other then EU? I don't remember any other the Anakin for a short period of time in one battle.

In the Battle of Geonosis (AOTC) there is at least one Jedi using 2 sabers. It's not entirely uncommon for different Jedi to use different saber combat forms. Being 'good' at a particular form is subjective because even the one-saber Jedi can and do get killed lol. Honestly, I'm very much looking forward to seeing her in action with two sabers because her known fighting style is pretty kick-ass, however it does tend to often employ her one free hand to perform some of the more acrobatic maneuvers.

What this episode did...shows her breaking away from Anakin even more.

Not sure about her breaking away from him even more as opposed to her going on more individual missions (-if that isn't what u meant?) and also allowing her to properly understand more of his more unorthodox points-of-view.

Though I feel if there is a "love" interest it will be used more as a vehicle for exploring Ashoka's attachment issues rather then supplying Ashoka with a partner.

'Attachment issues'... perhaps... but if she were to become smitten with him, it would be interesting. I think it's more of a situation where she comes to genuinely value the acquaintenship with him due to him becoming a REAL (non-Jedi) FRIEND (which is something that the JC might jump at exploiting if they felt that it could help their war efforts).

    I love new Ahsoka.

Her new outfit is beautiful. Inappropriate? Please. She is growing up. And well, I can partially understand the fuss about a peep-hole on her chest, but... what is exactly risqué about diamond cuts in her leggings? That's the weirdest accusation. What is, God forbid, sexual about it? She is showing way less skin that she did before, and still...! In a show where violence, killing, explosions, terrorism and torture have been regularly shown, I'd hope people would be more concerned about teaching their children what is truly wrong and bad, instead of pointing their fingers at a teenage girl wearing minimally flirty clothing [face_tired]

I only wish she had her back covered a little more... I wouldn't want her to catch a cold :p

    It's still inappropriate. :p

I'm going to say, Ahsoka shouldn't be 5 feet 7 inches (1.70 meters) in a few months or a year from her last appearance. She was around 5 feet 3, but as a girl, shouldn't she not grow so tall within a few months or year. She could have stayed within her same height, and not hit some big "growth spurt."

I don't know, it makes no sense to me. I'm not a girl, but this is what I think. She grew too much.

Four inches in a year really isn't that much (and I say this as a 'girl') not to mention that normal Togruta development might be different from human standards.
