Have you read any EU material? Maul is cool no doubt about it. He was only a Sith apprentice though. Jacen Solo was a powerful Force user and expert with the lightsabre. Come on.

 

But if Maul was meant to be anymore then a random villain to get the PT rolling he would have been made into a much better character, and Ray Park would have actually gotten the speaking part in there. He has a sweet voice that would have fit Maul so well.

 

I Agree M_M, but as they were let's say at the times of their deaths Darth Caedus was more powerful than Darth Maul.

 

I didn't disagree that Caedus was more powerful. I was saying that Darth Maul had the potential to be the villain that everyone would love. He would truly rival Darth Vader as a Sith. But sadly this never happened.

 

Maul would have definetly been popular. In terms of Force Potential, he wasn't a Jacen Solo.

 

I don't disagree that Caedus could be more powerful either, but he also has a few glaring weaknesses too. He was mentally unstable, fell because of his need to overprotect his daughter, and his daughter herself.

Any of these things a Sith Lord could exploit, negating whatever power-level advantage he enjoys.

 

I was just kidding.....

 

Darth Maul did that with Obi-Wan. Any time during the battle with Qui-Gon he could have ended it easy. If you watch carefully Darth Maul wasn't even struggling. He was playing with the two of them. He played with Qui-Gon until he got bored with the old man and decided that he would have some fun with the Padawan by making him angry. I didn't really think his death scene was logical for his character. Standing up at the top of the pit shooting sparks everywhere that is fine. He was playing with them so torturing Obi-Wan in that way works. But when Obi-Wan cut him in half he hesitated really bad. In the seconds it took Obi-Wan to fly out of the pit, grab Qui-Gons lightsaber, and chop Darth Maul in half Darth Maul would have had enough time to at least bring his lightsaber up to deflect it. He just stood there the entire time with a blank stare on his face.

 

By that logic then M_M, Caedus wouldn't have suddenly been as handicapped as the authors made him in LotF.

I enjoyed the Savage-Lightsaber-Boomerang-Scene very much I think it proofes that Savage is not just a crash-course-warrior as it may look in "Witches of the mist", but that he is trained for many years. And what amazes me also was that blind understanding with his brother. Maul have just to give him one eye-spot and Savage did exactly know what to do. A man not of many words, but deeds.

It might be also interesting to you, that we have a special Savage-Opress-Thread here.

By the way: Thank you very much for posting all these nice video-clips. They make it worth to look in the thread quite more often than I post here. And I'm saving time to switch on and off my video-recorder.

Darth Maul for me is the ultimate modern incarnation of a god of war. Smart, intelligent, swift, handsome and deadly.

I liked so much when he provoked Obi-Wan on his space-ship, bringing him into rage while he stood there with that cool elegance having obviously the high ground. And even with his new metal legs he looks far more natural and fleshy than Obi-Wan and some other Star-Wars-characters. And Savage was beating up Ventress at the same time and she really deserved that after her selfish behaviour in Dookus space-vessel.

 

Actually I don't find Maul that most Sadistic in Star Wars or Sith history. I think Palpatine/Sidious was even more sadistic and almost without any feelings of affection or compassion and respect. He was a real psychopath. While Maul loved his brother, he rushed over to him as he was killed by Sidious (and Sidious left him these last seconds with his brother without attacking him in this time - I appreciated that very much because Sidious easily could do otherwise as I know). Maul loved also his friend Kilindi at Orsis-Academy though he never confessed that to her (no time left). And he respected the skills and the bravery of enemies giving them a fast death when he accomplished his missions like you can read in the novel Shadow Hunter by Michael Reeves.

I really would like to see him survive the comic-arc "Son of Dathomir" and to have a new Sith-apprentice in the future. He is just to young to die.

 

And Maul's victory against CIS !

Maul's dark side knowledge

Maul is absolutely one of the strongest dark siders in terms of dark side knowledge. For example, he killed a telepath with just his dark thoughts alone. He has survived from TPM just because of the dark side power.
Also his incredible high pain tolerance granted by the same power.

Maul's resistance to lightning by power of the dark side ;



Killed a telepath with just his dark thoughts ;



Even Vader was no match for Maul in terms of dark side ;



His TCW survival granted by the power of the dark side ;
