Tensions are heightening across the galaxy as more Jedi Knights seemingly go insane and anti-Jedi sentiment, fed by fear and mistrust, spreads from world to world. Han and Leia Solo have their hands full helping the Jedi Order keep the affected Knights out of the grip of government security -- whose only solution is to freeze the offenders in carbonite.

Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker and his son, Ben, arrive in the mysterious part of space called the Maw, in search of more clues to whatever it was that caused Jacen Solo's fall to the dark side. It is here, in the Maw, that they will confront the members of a lost Sith tribe who are determined to kill Luke. And it is here, too, where Ben will meet the Force ghost of his dead mother, Mara Jade.

They sure are a lot quicker with this series's covers and blurbs!

So we have one confirmed force ghost for the series now!
I like how they are dealing with the insane Jedi, much better than killing them off.
And if they only meet the lost Sith tribe in this book, then who is Vestara from the cover of book 2?

Oh you're right, I'm getting the blurbs for OMEN and ABYSS confused.

That's what happens when they release a third of FOTJ's covers and blurbs before it even starts coming out!

 

these covers are all really cool! Omen being bright orange is kind of hideous, but it's still interesting. Do we have the back cover for this book yet?

I seem to recall that there's supposed to be a PDF featuring a prequel of sorts to the FOTJ. Has that come out yet?

 

Nope, I don't think so - I actually asked Sue about that a while back, and she had no idea when it was going to be released.

 

But she did confirm that there was going to be one? I haven't heard anything of this, any idea what it is going to feature?

Still a little gutted that Blood Oath was put back, as would have been good to get another story in before the FotJ arc began.

Well, when I asked, it was part of a bigger question that also included "do you know when www.fateofthejedi.com will be activated?" etc., and she said she hadn't even heard of any of that, so I am not quite sure...

While I have been trying to stay spoiler free for this, I did cave and look at the wook articles for the first few books. Why is Kenth Hamner made the grand master in Omen? There are so many other masters who have so much more backstory and personality than he does.

its very obvious. he is a stable, master who is the most arisocratic of them all and very good with diplomacy. He is the calmest head in the order and will not do anythin rash like kyp would

Actually, it's the very beginning of OUTCAST that happens. He's always been shown to be very good at managing things, and has taken care of the Jedi Order when Luke was gone before.

(Re)read the part of the NJO where Luke Skywalker leaves and appoints Kenth to lead the Jedi in his absence

 

It's semi-obvious to me that Luke appoints Kenth Hamner (of all people) to replace him temporarily so that he won't ruffle Daala's feathers and will asquiesce to her demands. It seems he is right.

If he'd chosen, say, Kyp or Corran like we were all expecting, Luke would have a war on his hands by the time he returned (if he does) - Jedi vs. GA almost instantly.

Personally, I think that appointing Kenth Grand Master is just marking him for death.

If the Darkmeld spoiler is true, it sucks big time. How can Tahiri murder Pellaeon and get away with it? I hope Daala hires a Mandalorian to kill Tahiri and I hope the Mandalorian succeeds.
