Aww, HECK YES! Finally got my copy today- you shoulda seen the look on my mom's face as she was trying to figure out why I was jumping up and down and laughing in maniacal, triumphant glee. Pretty much worth the wait for the face she made alone! [face_laugh]

I'll have my thoughts up soon as I get a chance to read it- I literally just tore the packaging open. [face_dancing]

You'll need a fair bit of time Dew, it's a substantial read and cannot be rushed!

So, for the noob who wants to get into this series I've heard so many great things about (plus loves what KOTOR he's read and the Lost Tribe series), I'm getting the impression that I should read Influx first, then the first comic arc, and then the novel? Strangely enough, there doesn't seem to be clear direction on wookieepedia.

I pronounce it DAY-mon, which is how I always used to pronounce (or mispronounce, I guess) "daemon."

And the order of stories is "Influx," "Aflame," and then the novel, but there is no need to wait to read the earlier two to enjoy the novel. We wanted novel readers to be able to consider the comics a prequel if they chose, and comics readers could see the novel as a sequel.

Holy crap. The opening to the novel is GENIUS. GENIUS, I say. Brilliant look inside Daiman's overly-narcissistic mind via proxy. Only Daiman would be so pedantic as to make sure every instance of the letters of his name is given some overly-dramatic flourish, and have a SHOE AD treated like some crazy holy relic or something. [face_laugh]

It only gets better- gotta love how Narsk summarizes Daiman and Odion's wildly different philosophies as normal sibling rivalry gone totally karking insane. Brilliant! [face_laugh]

Haven't even gotten that far, and I love this book already! =D=

Still loving this novel- so much so I hate to have to point out a minor continuity flub in respect to Aflame- Kerra muses that she "had always been on a first-name basis" with Vannar Treece- yet the first time they talk in Aflame, Kerra says something to the effect that, now that she's a Knight, she's not sure what to call him.

It's incredibly minor, but... well, best to catch these things early, and I probably only caught it because I'm obsessed with Knight Errant. Only flaw in a so far perfect novel, IMHO! :D

I can fix that Dew, how about Kerra being on first-name terms at Vannar's request while he was her master but once he makes her a knight she's no longer sure what to call him due to the relationship change?

Works for me! I just found that a slight hiccup- very, very slight.

Thanks for helping me make sense of it! [face_peace]

That's pretty close to what I had in mind. Basically, the other knights are formal with Vannar, because he's a Master. She has never called him that, but now out in the field, she's afraid of being too informal -- doesn't want to undermine his authority, or seem favored. I'm sure you can think of some real-life parallels. Knew a kid in school whose mother taught classes -- he had to call her Mrs., like everyone else...

Hey, cool - I actually got close to getting it right! Bit like being friends with your boss at work, if you're smart there'll be the Boss and Friend hats and you don't mix the two!

Thanks for taking the time to help explain that one, JJM! Always makes me a happy fan to see the authors take the time to talk with us!

And again, so far, this is definitely among my top ten favorite Star Wars novels of all time. Kudos on the good work! Everyone else was right- this book was definitely worth the wait!

Priceless! Once again, thank you for all your work on Knight Errant. DEFINITELY my favorite non-post-ROTJ thing going on with Star Wars at the moment, even with The Old Republic coming out. =D=

Because of the unanimous praise for this novel, I think I'm actually going to order both the comics and novel... noteworthy, because I never, ever buy individual issues. I usually wait for them to be collected :)

I'm about 100 pages in and it's amazing. You can really tell John loves Star Wars because of the way the book reads. The writing is great and there needs to be more Star Wars writers like this.

There is only one bad thing about this novel.

That I haven't the time presently to read it . :(

All the positive statistics in the review thread are only adding to my problem.

Damn you, JJM, damn you for being good! :_|

Once again, partway through the book I happened across something I just had to comment on.

As always, JJM's use of obscure EU species is top-notch. I have always loved Krevaaki, and wanted to see them used more often- so Calician was an extra layer of icing on the cake of awesomeness that is Knight Errant the novel. Gotta hand it to you, JJM- two hundred pages in, and I can safely say you've written what is easily one of my favorite Star Wars books of all time, and it just keeps getting better! Man, I cannot believe it's been out for over a week and I still do not have it in my hands. I really have been away too long. I plan on buying it tommorow.

I've not read most of the more recent books (NJO onwards actually...) so don't really know how this compares to recent SW works but I really enjoyed it and finished it in about 4 sittings over 2-3 days, it was very easy and enjoyable to read. The little references to the Tales/Kotor comics were nice to see and JJM's love of the universe really comes across I feel. Will definately be looking at the comics now, although that might wait until they're out in TPB, but overall I liked the new setting and characters and hope there will be more novels to come in the future :)

Completely random question: so I went to buy KE to my local shop (which is the only one I know here where I live) and I saw that the paperback was smaller than usual. Is this normal, or is it just my shop that got it somehow wrong?

My copy (uk) is about 3mm shorter/thinner than my copy of say Crosscurrent or Millennium Falcon, amazon has it listed as mass market paperback rather than just paperback as with these other two so I guess that could be why.

Got it yesterday, read it, finished it, absolutely loved it. Here's hoping we see more of the Brig (because I know we'll be seeing more of Kerra! :p ) and his gunners.

One question, though. Does this take place at the end of Kerra's little jaunt through Sith Space? The ending seemed to imply they'd be back in the Republic before long.

Qel: My copy is sized normally, as are other copies I've seen here in the States. Mass market paperback and paperback are usually the same thing regarding SW books. But then again, my copy of Revelation is also a tad shorter than all the others.

Bly: It seems to me that while Rusher and the others are returning to the Republic Kerra will remain and continue her knight errantry.

My copies are all the standard height. But I've seem printers do some odd things before. You have a collectible!

And Bly, it is Rusher that is headed to the Republic. He tells Kerra of a world in Sith space he can drop her off at.

I'm verrrry slowly beginning to get my production notes together; I will probably do an Ask-Me-Anything thread on my site before that, as I sometimes use those notes pages to make clarifications. Some work to get through, first. In the meantime, my thanks to everyone for their support and reviews on sites like Amazon, etc. Every little bit helps! :)
