Players all across the league speaking out on Twitter about the lack of safety protocols as camps are about to start

Too many to embed here but it's trending right now

And good for them. Ridiculous to start practices without this figured out. Microcosm of what's happening in the country.

I am curious about the N95 helmets. A friend of a friend who follows the Bears as a reporter says as of right now it is not required but is highly recommended since the NFLPA balked at it saying they were worried they crack despite the fact they were tested with stuff that is much more impact then a football play and in all kinds of weather conditions including freezing conditions. I think part of the negotiations will be those are mandatory.

The NFL is blowing it big time. The players are right to be worried.

Which is not a surprise when half the owners seem buddy-buddy with Trump.

Yah it's going to be a disaster more than usual since you can still buy tickets for NFL games, they had months to figure it out and obviously there will be a delay in the season. Or not because NFL owners are the actual worst

Side note on football, Texas delays high school football season by one month at least in the larger schools:

    https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/i...-school-football-season-largest-schools-month

I really have no idea why any state is looking to play football this fall including where I am. We should be flipping football to the spring and moving sports that can be played with some social distancing (tennis, golf, cross country, baseball, softball, etc) to the fall instead.

Yeah not until the spring at least and even that might be a long shot. I just don't see how it will be possible this fall in any state. Golf? Yes especially if they follow what our golf coach told me that their idea is they will never have foursomes mixed in with other schools. They just go out their with particular schools and play with spotters social distancing around the course to make sure rules are being followed like always. That would work since the kids would be in their "COVID-19 circle of trust" but something like football? No way.

I mean I've enjoyed snowy softball but you don't wanna be playing it in late November unless you're in the south lol

At least Baseball didn't have to deal with early snowy stadiums this year.

Looks like the NFL will agree to helmet decals for social justice:

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29510385/source-nfl-planning-allow-social-justice-decals-helmets

I think this is a fair compromise along with playing the black anthem before Week 1 games. Word is the players are okay with it too so scratch off one more issue hopefully.

I also think ALL leagues need to go ALL IN on promoting masks/social distancing and especially when it hopefully comes, vaccines (Dwight Howard not withstanding). Dr. Fauci mention in an interview they are looking to sports and entertainment to get the word out on all those especially vaccines. We need to kick that in high gear and fully think players should not only encourage people to get the flu vaccine this fall and hopefully when it comes next year, the COVID-19 vaccine they should also themselves getting it.

So I was flipping the radio dial and caught a bit on ESPN AM that according to Jaws, the league and owners gave in really quickly on two preseason games but really pushed and pushed (before finally relenting) about one game. The reason being is they have really no idea how this will work therefore they wanted a dress rehearsal basically to work out logistics and stuff. I must admit that makes sense and therefore would not be opposed if they did a few glorified scrimmages between teams just to have them walk thru how logistics would work on game day.

May as well keep it for this season (since we either won't have a season/fans won't be in attendence to buy merch, ect.,), and try to adopt a new name next season.

Yeah this is a weird move, but I do understand that it might take a long time to get all the stuff squared away for merch for a new name.
