On the real (and I’m not talking about Harrison Butker), what is up with the Chiefs players this offseason?

Often these things are an indication of what type of leadership the team has. When Travis Kelce is one of your Star players will that give the impression of a team that will have real good off field leadership?

In fairness, I didn't know who Buggs was before this. He was evidently on our practice squad. So yeah that one is an easy cut.

Although it's legally a misdemeanor mistreating a dog is a felony in many people's eyes.

What he did is definitely disgusting. Hope and expect him to be cut from the practice squad after this yeah

Who is your favorite non-Star QB ever?

I will ALWAYS choose Jay Cutler. A bazooka for an arm and even though they weren’t successful, I remember him having some great games during his career.

    Honorable mentions:
    -Jake Plummer
    -Chad Pennington

This is rough, because "non-star" is relative.

Cutler, Plummer, and Pennington were all starting QBs with some degree of success in their careers.

I have seen fans wearing jerseys with the names and numbers of each of those 3, a benchmark I would use to indicate whether someone was a "star".

An easier metric would be "best QB not to win a Super Bowl" or "Best QB never to be named an All PRO or Selected to the Pro Bowl"

Otherwise, it could just get real subjective.

"Non-Stars" that spring to mind for me:
    • Peter Tom Willis
    • Frank Reich
    • Mike Tomczak
    • Matt Flynn

I'll always love Kerry Collins, especially since he completely turned his life around from becoming the NFL version of John Rocker

He’s like a “legend” of the “non-Star” QBs. Idk but his Raider year is like burned into my mind from my youth.

And by Non-Star I’m not talking about their level of success necessarily, just guys who may have been quality starters but were never amazing long term.

I’d submit Kyle Orton, mostly just for that weird year where Denver traded him to the sad sack Chiefs mid-season, and he somehow beat the then undefeated Packers.

I started watching Packer games with my Grandfather during the "Majic Man" era.

My Grandpa swore at him through the tv screen almost every Sunday. [face_laugh][face_laugh][face_laugh]

Can still see him sitting in his recliner, massaging blood into his calves, a cigarette begrudgingly hanging from the smokeless ashtray my Grandma made him use for my sake. If they were losing, he'd be cursing and usually channel surfing. If they were winning, he'd be asleep.

Even when they won, he'd tell me "they ain't real Packers yet".

He didn't have much faith in Favre either.

Reggie White on the other hand...when he signed, it may have been the happiest sports day of my Grandfather's life. Even the Superbowl win was anticlimactic for him.

@Jedimarine thanks for sharing that well painted portrait of your childhood lol

Reggie was a big deal back then. I remember people questioning why a black player of his caliber would want to go to Green Bay which was filled with white folks.

Speaking of the Bills, former Olympic wrestler Gable Stevenson has apparently signed with them after being released by WWE.

In other weird NFL news, the Chiefs are legit thinking of having safety Justin Reid as our kickoff man next year because the new system and rules make it much more likely the kicker has to actually tackle. And you don't really want your FG kicker risking that.

Reid made several field goals last year when Butker was out with an injury. So this is a legit thing that may be happening on Dave Taub's squad this year.

A real man would make the tackle. Straight to the kitchen Butker.
