I mean sort of: so I see it like this

-the giants have Wilson, whoever got started there was going to be on the bench on day 1
-the Steelers currently are hoping to sign Rodgers, whoever gets drafted to them is going to be on the bench on day 1
-the Raiders have Geno, just got geno, again another bench position
    - The Saints guy will also be a backup

So I don’t think it’s a talent thing. All of those starters in those places are veterans and unless you are Cam Ward, you’re not starting over them. I don’t think Shadeur and his team thought about that. I don’t think it has anything to do with his talent and ability level.

He probably thought he was good enough to start and, in his defense, ANY other year he might be, but all the QB needy teams have veterans so they didn’t need a guy to start right now.

I’m not going to accept any idea that his ego was too big because he wanted to start in a league where, and I CANT ****ing state this enough: Zac Wilson, Mac Jones, Kenny Pickett and Trey Lance were all drafted as 1st round franchise QB prospects less than 5 years ago. Hell, I almost want to throw Trevor Lawrence in there.

So I just learned that Deion actually has two sons in this year's draft, including his second-oldest Shilo Sanders, who played six years in the NCAA (redshirted as a freshman and then received the COVID waiver) as a safety, the last four years for Dad. Shilo is projected as a late-round pick or UDFA, in part due to some off-field incidents.

Fun fact: both Shilo and Shedeur have the same middle name of "Deion".

I can understand the Giants taking Dart over Shedeur. They are pretty comparable.

But the Saints taking Shough & Seahawks taking Milroe over Shedeur is absolutely baffling.

Shedeur is lightyears better than both of those guys. this is just unbelievable.

I have never heard of a team not taking a quarterback because that quarterback thinks they’re a starter. The exact opposite actually. I would think head coaches would want the players they draft to be confident in themselves no matter where they’re drafted. If you think you can win the job. Cool. Go out and compete.

I really think that teams not wanting the Deion sideshow is at least a small part in this freefall. Because you just know Deion's going to be applying public pressure to make his kid the starter, etc. There's also the question of how well he can play independently, without Dad coaching him on the field.

I honestly think Shedeur made a major mistake in choosing to play all four of his college seasons for Dad. If he had stayed at Jackson State when Deion went to Colorado, he may have had less exposure and weaker competition, but he would have had two years to prove he can play at a high level without Dad micromanaging him. And in the internet and social media age, you don't need the TV exposure to get the attention of NFL execs. Merely being the son of a Hall of Famer would by itself put some extra media eyes on him whether Dad is there or not. And maybe, just maybe, putting that distance between him and Dad for a couple of years would lead to Dad being more hands-off and less manipulative in the draft process with Shedeur having already had a chance to chart his own independent course in life.

Actually, that's a great point: Deion is the classic helicopter parent, except on a much bigger stage. And he's not going to stop hovering until Shedeur forces him away. The time to do that was when Deion went to Colorado.

Except there were going to be no competitions. This QB draft class isn’t good enough. You think Pete Carrol is about to have Geno smith, who they JUST PAID, competing with a 3rd round draft pick?

Or if the Steelers get Rodgers, he’s going to compete against a rookie?

Same thing for Wilson in NY. The only one that could be up for debate is the Saints job but I doubt it.

So, no, in this case, having enough confidence to be the starter or stating as such wouldn’t exactly help you because that’s not what the coaches wanted nor is that how they viewed this draft class.

I meant to go to the store and buy milk after the 3rd round finished. I forgot to do so and now the store is closed, and I can't get my chocolate milk tonight. I blame Shedeur Sanders (for distracting me with this conversation) and COVID (for putting an end to 24-hour grocery stores). :p

Todd McShay has been pretty adamant all week that Shedeur had horrible interviews specifically with the Giants and Saints that he said in his final preview that neither would take him and that the Giants would trade back into the 1st round for Dart. So to me it seems like his attitude played a big role.

Explain what you guys think he said or did. Apparently it was bad enough that the draft number he gave only to coaches and executives is the same number that received a prank call talking about how he “was going to have to wait alittle longer”.

So what do you think he did that deserves league members to give away his number to prank callers?

That's a good point. If any coaches and executives were involved, they need to be punished for that.

Deion Sanders had a famous encounter with the Giants when he was about to be drafted. “They sat me down and gave me a thick book, I mean, this thing was thicker than a phone book. I said, ‘What’s this?’ They said, ‘This is our test that we give all the players.’ I said, ‘Excuse me, what pick do you have in the draft?’ They said, I think, 10th. I said, ‘I’ll be gone before then. I’ll see y’all later. I ain’t got time for this." NFL owners have elephant type memories and I think a lot of this is directed at Deion and his son is collateral damage.

Well that would be dumb because Deion was right.

He’s the greatest CB to ever play the game and he’s a hall of famer. Plus that was 30* years ago. I really doubt the Giants were thinking that. I just think they are a poverty franchise.

Which is why the people who want us to **** on Shadeur and put the blame all on him are off base to me. Could he have been more humble and understanding of the roles the league was looking for? sure, but the franchises that need QBs are bad franchises with the exception of the Steelers, who are waiting for Rodgers. This was the perfect storm for this kind of thing to occur.

I’m supposed to look at the Saints and the Giants and take their word that is was Shadeur who messed up when neither franchise has drafted a good QB in 20+ years (yes, I’m including Eli Manning)

So the Panthers went RB with our first 4th rounder, which means to me that we likely would’ve drafted Skattebo had he been available. What a dream scenario for a 1-2 punch with Chuba, but Etienne runs hard and was likely alittle underrated. If Brooks is in anyway able to make a full recovery (which I highly doubt) the Panthers RB room is set for at least the next 2 years.

My takeaway from the David Walker highlight reel is that Central Arkansas has a godawful ugly-ass field.
