You know... this is the kind of the thing the owner made us edit when I was a mod/admin. Wasn't there some kind of "Code of Conduct"? I'm not sure a "just kidding" makes a difference if you keep repeating those pretty personal comments about an author.

I hate what the new CW movie has done to continuity, but I'm not threatening the creator, or even getting my knickers in that much of a twist....

No... it's just that apparently the stuff we saw in orbit around Coruscant during the battle were all (or half?) the new secret fleet and newly rolled out secret clones from Centax-III and no one knew about it.

If it appeared before in a source, then I've missed it but I don't keep up with absolutely everything CW-related these days.

If it hasn't though, of course it's clearly just oversight that it's not mentioned at all in ROTS, given that the Battle of Coruscant is such a minor piece to the opening of the film and the senior Jedi masters and senior Senate members aren't shown meeting up with the Chancellor immediately after. Oh, wait...

I mean, it's explainable -- it's just not necessary to HAVE to be explainable, just like the Callista stuff (except for her name being wrong. That's just wrong.)...

No need to fear. All will be explained in the next book, where Shysa steps out of a shower, sees Darman alive, and we discover all the previous books were a dream.

    [image=http://www.ultimatedallas.com/episodeguide/7.jpg]

    Just a dream....

    :_|

*curls up in a ball clutching his 'Canon Apologist' title and whispering to himself, rocking as he does so*

I can fix this. I can fix this. I can fix this. I can fix this. I can fix this.

    *sighs*

I'm sure I can canonically fit this in.

    1. The Secret Army and Secret Fleet are being created by Palpatine in conjunction with the Jedi. It's their secret - enough force to forcibly occupy the galaxy. Bad Jedi!

    2. The Mandalorian Army is already running around trashing the galaxy as per Abel, just without a Mandalore. Spar, as a merc, takes part in these things, and thus when he is declared Mandalore the Resurrector, the merc Mandalorians pretend they were always the Protectors - when in-fact they were simply selfish Mando's - and the galaxy nods because they didn't know better. The Protectors were retroactively created, claiming the benefit of actions the Mandalorian mercs had taken part in, and everyone nodded to make sure no-one discovered how weak Mandalore is.

    3. The deal with the Empire that Fenn spoke of does go south and they enslave everyone slowly, and he lies to Leia about it being his idea and the Mandalorians, having utter loyalty to Mandalore, follow through with the lie because it makes them sound more powerful if they've been resisting since day one.

    4. Etain's supposed to be a tragedy. Legally, the Jedi did launch a coup, remember. Etain has been kicked clean out of the spiritual world by the war. More Jedi should have been affected by the war in this way, arguably - if they weren't killed by clones, that is - and start following the Empire automatically, or handing themselves in.

And, to throw in KotoR #32...

I mean, the Covenant started a coup by pretending their were Sith in the Jedi Council. Why aren't some Jedi going to raise their eyebrows when the government the Council disapproves of suddenly has a 'Sith' in it?

The Jedi did start a coup. Legally. Every Imperial fan on the boards uses it to justify the extermination of the Jedi.

    Aw, Sinre.[:D]
Think positive. If nothing like this happened anymore, where would you be?;)

One of the reasons I don't give a happy damn about canon anymore. Won't build a castle on quicksand.:p
And the discussion here are fun. If they don't scare the Sith out of you... [face_worried]

d4pm, whatever fights we had on these boards... I am sorry. thx for these spoilers.

So the "good guy clones" "join thebad guy clones" in the "Jedi slaughter" cause they were caught in the middle? later justifying it with "Jedi/Sith whatever... all the same?"

holy Sith... when I thought Etains death was worst it gets worse. her whole book advocates killing out of egoism, revenge and bloodlust rather than the good minded approach.

This is just a bad dream... just a bad dream... wake up Ceiran... wake up... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

how can any official agree to THAT version of rewriting history? I believed in retconning the Clone Wars series, the Prequels and TFU's troubles somehow despite boardering on madness. And without any hope left for the Life Action series... I'd say: Traviss, this was too much. R.A.Salvatore got worse fan punishment for quite much less...

like I said, not against the author. she writes good stuff I like, yet I hate it when she imposes her own continuity over others. this talk is just a way of easing the pain without any action following it.

Sure. And although it's not nearly as hilarious as Etain's, it does feature ms Traviss distinct... touch.

After the Order is issued, Maze and Ordo head to the offices of SO to clean up. Zey shows up, bloodied and maybe dying. "Why are you killing us?" he asks. "Because", Maze answers, "it's not your place to choose who runs the Republic. Who elected you?" An important issue in Traviss' writing, this.

"Palpatine is Sith", Zey cries. "Why couldn't you see that?"
"Why couldn't you?", the noble clone snaps back. "And why didn't you ever ask where the shab we came from?"

    Sigh, this is so stupid.

Anyway, Maze gives Zey one last chance to surrender and maybe he'll get a trial, but Zey is all "I'm dead anyway, just finish it". And so he does.

Thing is, we're supposed to see Etain as this hero and Zey as a blind, corrupt old fool. It doesn't... quite work.

Also, for everyone asking about Delta: Sev is stuck on Kashyyyk, the rest join the Imperial Army.

Doesn't matter. A personal attack is still a personal attack even if you're doing it to vent. This is not the place for that sort of thing. If you need to vent, do it in private. Talk to someone else, blog it, or get off of the computer and do something relaxing.

This is a discussion thread and this is the literature forum. Let's try to be better than all this. I know the Lit mods will be mightily disappointed that people were misbehaving--play nice for their sake, yes? Don't make their job tougher than it already is.

You know what the funny thing is? This, and just this, actually sounds like it could be going somewhere interesting. In a better book, this could lead to something compelling and suspenseful, something encapsulating the fall of the Republic and the terror of Order 66.

Instead, we get a lecture on why the Jedi suck. Distinct touch, indeed.

It's either that or I decide the pig isn't worth it and turn to bacon for a pet hobby. :p
Good point! Karen's keeping me in a job! But... I'd only just fixed KJA for SuperWatto. And Revelation. And I'm in the middle of writing the missing chapters of Invincible! Don't I deserve a break, Karen? :(

*holds onto his chewed and rotten sash with 'Canon Apologist' in pretty font on*

    Never! :p

Nope. But as Palpatine was, they've inherited his moral and legal ethical position as his tools. *shrugs*

To Spar... didn't he live until 20-odd ABY anyway, when he should have been practically dead?

He wound up in the Extrictarium Nebula, home of Iego and its unusual age-defying properties. I don't think it was ever explicitly said that he benefited from them, but the implication was there.

I've never understood the argument that the Jedi were unelected. The Jedi were the guardians and servants of the Republic, not its rulers and their main task was to keep the peace and justice within the Republic. Now, I'm not a fan of the Mandalorian angle (for one thing I think it raises more questions than answers when it comes to the movies, especially AOTC), but I of course understand that there are more stories to be told than involves the Jedi and Sith (and I strongly believe it's up to every fan to enjoy whatever existing angle of Star Wars he or she wish. If they want to learn fluent Mandalorian, power to them. If other fans wants to discuss the length and other specifications of imaginary ships, power to them. If yet other fans wants to discuss the subtleties of Nabooan architecture, power to them). However, I think one mustn't forget for all their flaws (some of which lead to their downfall), the Jedi were good, noble and honorable. That's how George Lucas created them and that's how they come across in the movies.

    Sinre, you have my condoleneces.

So, Omega's status is that Niner is paralyzed, Darman is probably traumatized from losing Etain, and what happens to Corr and Atin?

Also, Delta joins the Imperial Army without Sev? We get no elaboration on Sev's fate?

    God, what a gyp.

    Some more questions:
*How exactly is Spar characterized in this book?
    *What happens to Vau?
*How does Delta react when the Order goes down?

EDIT: Oh, and what exactly is this secret clone army?

We also get the "Jedi take babies without permission" again.

It's said to Zey (y'know, Jedi Master and all) by Ordo, I believe, and he just sags with guilt or something rather than saying "Um, no? No we don't?"
