cause he has a cool look and voice, he is reasonable and he leads and he was the Empires main leader for a while, so we imp fans latched on

 

He has basic common sense. That's pretty rare for a major MMORPG NPC, much less a Sith Lord.

(I actually don't much care for his appearance, though - while he's a lot better differentiated than many of the Vader cosplayers the Empire is rife with, he still looks a little too much like Revan for my taste. The most interesting Dark Councilors design-wise are Jadus and Baras).

That's what I'm hoping for. Light Side Sith Empire/Neutral Sith Empire=Best Empire. And from what little I've seen of the new Empress Acina pre-KotFE, she seems fairly pragmatic and focused on her responsibilities, in contrast to Baras or a Thanaton type who are focused on one-upping their rivals.

I hope they go that route. The Sith Empire gradually reforms itself from within, and the Republic continues down the path of a police state. Eventually, they could become similar enough to merge.

 

I hope the Empire rules the galaxy and settles it's people in the Core (displacing the natives) and then this fall apart and we get the dark age. After the Empire

 

Why did Satele give up the Grandmaster title?

 

If the Republic seen in the prequels was once the Sith Empire, maybe that's part of why the Sith want revenge. They feel that it's their empire and that the Jedi stole it from them.

Pre Saga history is anyone's guess these days, should we create a thread about it and list what is isn't canon?

Three books in one set. This seems to be like my ideal product! I need all three of these STILL so it's definitely something I will buy. I considered it might just be someone doing it alone but three separate sellers are offering it so I assume that someone in the chain is selling these- ie. they don't have the Legends banner so they must be left over stock?
Not sure. Any ideas?

Now this is BIG news. Should we take that now as Legends?

Have we taken that step? Or is it just branded as such? Can someone ask Pablo?


@darklordoftech One question where would such a thread go? I'm stumped on that.

 

I think SWTOR has gone to its own universe now, it doesn't totally fit with other Legends materials, Ziost being an example.

I disagree. It still contains tons of nods to classic EU planets and species in the text, the current storyline doesn't really have anything that outlandish (pun intended), considering it is set in Unknown Regions, where all sorts of weird stuff happen.

 

SWTOR is still legend, I'm pretty sure. Eventually, someday, maybe they'll add in a few Old Republic elements to the nuEU, but that's a minor priority for them with the sequel trilogy kicking into high gear. Even TCW had some vague references, I think, and that was one of the few things to remain canon (unfortunately).

So far SWTOR still fits with Legends EU. It'll be interesting to see if SWTOR goes off into its own direction, but so far no indication of that. Not like they blew up Coruscant or Korriban, though that would certainly be big. Even Ziost can probably recover eventually. Especially with the story shifting to the Unknown Regions, which gives them more room to play around with, and still plenty of EU references.

I recommend Fatal Alliance and Deceived, both are pretty good. I liked Fatal Alliance quite a bit, its more of a side story to SWTOR, but makes good use of the setting. Deceived is mostly a Malgus story, but that's not bad either. Annihilation... well, its not quite as bad as the Revan novel, but its poorly written and not that original a story (doesn't help that the Lost Suns comic made better use of Theron Shan in an earlier storyline already).

 

The destruction of life on Ziost seems reasonable, since it's only mentioned again many hundred years later.

Would be nice to see Episode 8 reference Ziost, Zakuul, or reference the history of Rakata Prime more.

 

But its consequence doesn't have to match with later Legend story.

 

When the Starkiller Base planet appeared in the first teaser, I thought it was Ziost.

 

We don't see Nathema regain life after 1,000 years.

 

Because all planets have the same ecosystem/properties /s

I think a massive problem I've seen with the Legends content is that everything is needlessly spread out over a long period of time.

A lot of major events post-Episode 6 in the Old!EU took place over a period of 130 years and for the most part it worked fine, but why does Darth Overrated Character and ruiner of good Sith stories Bane's life have to take place 1000 years prior to episode 1? The timeline could be condensed so that:

Knight Errant: 200 BBY
Battle between the Army of Light and the Brotherhood of Darkness: 120 BBY
Darth Bane's story 120-100 BBY:
Darth Zannah's story 100-XX BBY:
Darth ???????'s story XX-YY BBY:
Darth Plagueis's story YY-ZZ BBY:
Palpatine's storyline ZZ-03 ABY:

Writing this I'm again realizing the benefits of the Old Republic era being an AU/different timeline entirely. I don't like the idea of three games (one of which being a massive MMO with some great expansions) being predestined to fall many centuries after those story lines have ended.

 

Actually it makes sense, look at real life history, major conflicts and figure don't all raise in one era. Putting all the major conflicts in a few decades like post RotJ EU is stupid. That was the worst part of the old EU.
