Lol. Not sure I'd wanna watch any movie twice in one day.

There was this guy, in the JCC I think, who posted updates like, "I just finished my 5th viewing of TFA this week, bringing my grand total to 47 viewings so far. I hope to get about 10 more in before it leaves theaters."

If he's buying cheap tickets, he's still spending close to $500... to watch one movie... multiple times.

I mean, that's like driving up and down a turnpike 47 times, even though you could have taken a city street or just not driven at all, just so you can brag that you paid a toll 47 times. Like, congrats guy. Weird flex, but okay.

^I wonder if that poster was being serious...what you're describing above reminds me of a sequence of posts wherein Darth Nerdling made a series of purposely absurd posts about his attempts to determine his feelings about The Last Jedi in the JCC SW thread...here's a sample::p

So some people here acronym it as TROS while others use ROS.

Thinking about seeing TROS again makes me feel ill. :( But I also really want to see it again. Gah.

It’s messing with me, can’t stop thinking about it. I really need to see it again now that I know what to expect. And to breathe a little easier. I feel like I’ve been on edge since Thurs.
Happy ending, I guess. But it doesn’t feel like one imo. Ben Solo is dead; yet another SW couple ends tragically in one way or another, can’t allow just one to end happily in this final chapter, nope. :(

Resistance is celebrating but like I told Dandy yesterday: great, now there are power vacuums all around, watch as a bunch of Hutt-like enterprises & FO hold outs pop up in the galaxy. Don’t tell me another empire/FO isn’t gonna pop again.

I know I’m nitpicking & shouldn’t care & yes they’re just movies. Still, it makes me feel like what was the point of any of this.
But I need to give TROS a few more chances. Hell even ROTJ I changed my tune on with this last viewing, so between that & me actually liking Poe in TROS, anything is possible!

@Huttese 101 and @ThisIsMe1138 -- Christmas is definitely a time that can bring out melancholy for a lot of different reasons (or exacerbate it if there are already similar underlying emotions present). I regularly experience it myself--some years more than others. I think it has a lot to do with the way Christmas is built up with all these super-idealized messages (in advertising and just society generally) about how "perfect" and "wonderful" it is "supposed" to be. Add to that the fact that the season is often tinged with the nostalgia we feel from childhood Christmases, it's winter (less daylight, bleak environment for most, etc), and the end of the year is approaching (which triggers people to think about unmet goals for the year, the passage of time, etc.)

I think good old Charlie Brown said it best:

My mother told me she was once stuck at a theater with some friends in 1985 so she kept having to see movies to kill time. She saw Back to the Future and some others. Maybe Cocoon. I'll have to ask her.

    @Jedi Knight Fett,

do you have an updated tally on ryl regulars' reactions to ROS? perhaps we should have 3 categories: overall positive, overall negative, or "still confused and processing":p

The poster was being serious @Pensivia He had view lists like that for several movies, so it wasn't like what DN was doing lol.

And agreed that holidays can be very depressing sometimes. Hope everyone is doing ok and gets through it alright.

Hey everyone. Man, I'm sorry to hear about some here not feeling well right now; I don't know of any way to help, but I'm certainly always here for support. :)[:D]

I'm still overall doing relatively well (with plenty of ups and downs) but I've gotta say....I had to cut caffeine cold turkey since I went to the hospital the other week and its more difficult than I thought it would be. :p
