IC: Arc - a combo with @Shadowsun as Zalzabar
    The Streets of Othos

There was a lot to be said for larger cities.

They were places which contained many, many communities, all rubbed up against each other. Sometimes they overlapped, where intermingling occurred, and they became bigger groupings of people again. Then, a few generations later, the two would become one, or become separated by some family spat or drama or just, well, everyday life. Back and forth, over it time.

But there was always a central group, not necessarily the group elected (or selected) to rule, and they knew everything, and it was at the fringes of these that one could pick up the juiciest of titbits. What they considered gossip shaped the rise and fall of every citizen in Othos, and Othos itself was but one community within the continent itself.

It was all entwined, all a pattern, all a rhyme, all a web.

Arc's specialty was working it all out, and the pressure points, and the leverage to be had.

His specialty was the Truth and the Lies.

He had been, after all, seeking someone.

    A pivot point.

A famous man by the name of Zalzabar.

And of course, when a band of adventurers and Ryujin crossed the threshold of the City of Othos, the cloaked man, absently minding his own business in a cafe frequented by said socialites and power brokers, that news passed through the place like lightning, or a wildfire, or a storm, and Arc knew it was time.

Depositing some local currency in the incorrect denominations - he always overpaid for his privacy - Arc stood, swept his cloak down for the daily dust and detritus, made she he was presentable in the reflection of a pool, even checked his teeth for food - before remembering there was no point.

With a self-depreciating chuckle, he straightened his collar one last time, and swept out of the cafe.

He knew the streets well enough to decide whether to appear in-front or behind Zalzabar...

    ... or perhaps just beside?

Stepping from an alleyway, he matched the admittedly intense of the man.

"Surprise," he said softly, not daring to antagonise Zalzabar.

    Not this man.

Zalzabar was walking rather nonchalantly down the streets, whistling quietly to himself as he wandered toward the central palace in the distance. He was used to the looks he would get from the city dwellers, he had been there before their Kingdom even existed, after all, to say he was something of a living legend in Athas would be an understatement.

One thing did catch his notice, however, a hooded man coming towards him, one clearly not from Athas. Upon his greeting, a large smile spread across Zalzabar's face, a certain twinkle in his eye.

"Is that the new greeting in Othos these days, how odd indeed." A chuckle and then a quizzical look as looked to the hooded man.

"Call me old-fashioned but I introduce myself with my name. I am Zalzabar, although my friends call me Zalzy... and who might you be my friend?" He extended a hand to shake a warm smile on his face. Once again the eccentric nature of Zalzabar quickly dispelling the tails of a powerful and mysterious warrior.

Well that was a curious beginning.

Arc held out a gloved hand and shook it. "Zalzy? Not... Zabar? Or Alza?"

His tone matched the man's jovial one. "The name is Arc, actually. It can't be shortened, sadly, though someone called me Ark with a K once." A slight, self-depreciating chuckle.

As the two gripped hands and shook, Arc making a joke about his name a broad smile flashed across Zalzabar's face.

    "I'm sorry about the glove"

    "About the glove...?"

In the next moment lighting extended from Zalzabar's hand ripping into the glove and traveling through Arc's body. The sensation was intense but not necessarily painful. He would then feel himself become still, his body incapable of moving. The smile then lightened from Zalzabar's face a certain kindness in his eyes.

"Oh, so your nature is negation, intriguing I don't get to see many of those. I wouldn't try and dispel anything, it won't end well against an Elder Ryujin"

His hand remained firmly grasped with Arc's a lock of steel where there was seemingly no escape.

"Now I do apologize you see I'm not exactly in the mood to chat, and enemies are everywhere I am afraid. I've been trying not to die the last few days so when a strange hooded man that is clearly not from around here comes up and says 'hello' I am not exactly inclined to trust them."

Small tendrils of lighting began to come off Zalzabar. There was a quiet hush of passerby who looked up at the situation and then quickly made their way elsewhere. An Atharian guard was a few paces away who simply looked at Zalzabar, gave a nod, and then promptly continued their patrol route.

"So listen let me cut you a deal, I could extend the lightning to reach your brain and read your mind and find out everything about you or..."

He trailed off, a mischievous smile passing on his lips.

"...you could tell me what you want"

    Ow, ow, ow.

Arc managed to keep his body language neutral, though the pain was considerable. Zalzabar had deceived him, and Arc was, beneath his discomfort, amused by his own conceit. It was always fairly difficult to ingratiate oneself with the locals but this man had surpassed most of them.

Gritting his teeth, he was half tempted to let Zalzabar access his mind and see how quickly he went mad. But that wouldn’t do this world any good would it now?

Attempting to match the ferocious grip with his own, if only to stop his hand from breaking, Arc decided he may as well shoot back. “Do you truly intend to keep your comrades in the dark about how you’re half of Sapientis?”

    It was a guess.

    An educated one, perhaps.

The smile from Zalzabar's face vanished replaced with one with anger. The lightning continued to course throughout Arc, its tendrils reaching up to his brain.

"And why by the Three do you think I am Sapientis?"

A flash as the lightning intensified before it was coursing through Arc harmlessly, albeit perhaps painful. But now it was damaging the man's body, the electricity ripping into whatever fleshy vessel dwelled beneath his robes.

Then there was a connection, the lightning tendril reaching deep within Arc's mind.

    A pause.

Memories would begin to play out before Arc, scenes of a long life but not his own.

There was a woman. Tall, fair with red hair flowing down over her shoulders.

    "Zalzabar?"

Called out a voice, female. Then a shift as her image faded to two young men, both looking directly to Arc, although neither looking to Arc.

"How could you leave us, leave her?"

    "Dad?"

Another shifting as Arc now viewed a battle. One between Zalzabar and Derius, both of who Arc would know although Zalzabar was the only one he had met.

"Why are you doing this Derius? Sapientis will only bring death, decay, and destruction to Regnum... don't do this... think of your Mother!"

Lightning and Wind flowed through the air battling and swarming with each other as that scene too faded.

Another scene of Zalzabar alone in his castle. The earnest knock at the door as three young bright eyes looked to him. A young Dominus looking at him sheepishly.

Zazlabar now on top of his castle, looking down, watching eight people undergo his trials, seeing the battles unfold with Dominus's clones. A soft smile passing onto his lips.

All this happened in what seemed like an instant as Arc was brought back to reality, staring coldly into the angry face of Zalzabar. Arc would then feel his heart stop, and then start again with an irregular rhythm and then become shocked back to a normal heartbeat.

"Last chance Arc, who are you and what do you want?"

Arc dropped to one knee as he struggled to stay conscious. This was not going as planned. There was something… vicious here. “I want…”

    He gasped.

    This was getting bad.

    “To save you…”

    He was losing control…

This world was more feral than any…

    “From evil -“

With an exertion, his cloak burst apart and the Darkness held within him emerged as a green-black dragon that attempted to bite off the man’s head -

Zalzabar began to simmer down from his outburst as he saw Arc begin to transform into a Ryujin his head becoming like that of a dragon attempting to bite the Elder Ryujin's head clean off.

But Zalzabar was still clasped onto him, his hand bound tightly as his lightning coursed through the Ryujin. In the instant, before Arc could bit Zalzabar the Lightning Ryujin what shut off his mind, sending an electrical signal throughout his body to shut itself down.

Holding the limb Arc he placed him neatly down in the street, a gasp from the onlookers as a number of guards came rushing to only to see that it was Zalzabar who gave a dismissive wave of his hands.

Carefully he placed the robed man down, placing a hand on his chest as he awoke the man from his induced slumber.

"I do apologize once more, I..."

Zalzabar looked off to the side not sure really what to say.

"...it's been a long day, I'm assuming you have one of my invitations then, yes? I suppose I owe you a chat and a drink for that little ordeal"

Arc didn't remember transforming back. He was, however, happy to be breathing. "Well," Arc said, a bit breathless. "That's never happened before. Apparently if I lose it out comes the Dragon here."

    He sat up. "Cool!"

It was then he tuned in. "An invitation?" Shaking a wrist, such a thing dropped from a sleeve. "I have, indeed. I wasn't sure if I could attend but better late than never for the end of the world, am I right?" He coughed, sheepishly.

"Can I have a tea? I feel as if I need to clear my throat."

Zalzabar gave a warm chuckle at Arc's comments, his signature friendly smile now returned to his face. He took the invitation, inspecting for a moment before zapping it with electricity.

"Yes, yes certainly Tea it is, although here in Athas that might be a tad pricey, ah whatever I did kinda mess up your hand and arm."

He gave another laugh wandering over to a store, that seemed to serve various drinks Zalzabar ordered two drinks, both of which were tea and as he suspected rather expensive as tea did not grow in Athas and had to be imported. They would not stay at the shop, their cups allowing them to walk and talk as needed. They both continue in the direction of the palace, in a city of a million souls, it would take some time to get there, leaving plenty of time for the two to converse as they walked.

"So Arc you wish to help save the world, I can sense the Ryujin blood flow through your veins, good, very good. And you are a negation mage, although given a fellow such as yourself I'm sure has plenty of other tricks up their sleeves, especially with such large ones as yours."

Another chuckle, as he took a sip from his tea, looking around at the city breathing in.

"I have much to offer, training, the Elder Form, money, but the risk is large, tremendous even. Sapientis is evil incarnate, those that want him back are willing to destroy this very world to do so. There is of course the matter of entry, we don't just take up anyone there are certain... trials that you have to undergo first, you understand?"

Arc was still shaking loose kinks from his arm; it did hurt, no denying that. His chest was also sore, but he’s probably died a moment ago. Moving on.

“Trials, sure, I’m game. Being how my Dragon acted a moment ago… I’d quite like to know how to better master my inner power and of course make an Elder of it.” He did wag a finger, his confidence returning. “A controllable Elder, mind you… I’d be no use if I attain Elder status and cause havoc.”

That I can tell you without any sleeve tricks.”

    "Excellent!"

Shouted Zalzabar giving Arc a mighty slap on the back in a friendly manner, another broad grin on his face. He took one last massive swig from his tea before looking oddly at the cup and then disintegrating it with lightning.

"I am very sorry about the arm, but you're a Ryujin so it should heal up in no time. Now I can administer the first trial if you would like..."

There was a touch of sadness behind what Zalzabar stated, hidden beneath his jolly stride and tone. Arc would just be able to catch it, before Zalzabar whipped around standing in front of him. A hand was placed just above Arc's hood, Zalzabar's fingers dancing delicately above them.

"Well Arc, do you have the courage to undergo the first trial?"

Arc watched Zalzabar disintegrate his cup, and frowned a bit as sadness drifted across the man’s features for the briefest of seconds. He was trying to rhyme it out when he put his fingers on his coat.

    “Here? And now?”

He looked down at his tea, swirling around the leaves at the bottom. “I don’t think I understand you. You’re very…” The cup settled and he found himself peering down.

“Conflicted. Can I ask why, before you, well, at a guess, dive into my mind and do something or other traumatic in the name of training me to fight for you.”

It was a technique Arc knew well, after all.

The smile on Zalzabar's face twitched slightly. Well, this one was certainly a direct one, none of the others had asked him such a question, but they must have surely suspected such a thing, the sadness that dwelt with Zalzabar.

"When you have lived as long as I have you cannot help but live with guilt for some of your actions, the Knight who used to conduct this trial was like a son to me, he recently...he was recently killed"

Zalzabar found himself unable to speak. By the Three not now, he needed to press onward, it would what Audacia and Veritas would have wanted anyway.

He cleared his throat his arm above Arc's head relaxing slightly. His face hardening as he offered another smile.

"But yes, best to do this now as it will only take an instant even if it feels like an age"

When you have lived as long as I have...

    Yes. Arc understood that.

He nodded. "Well, all I can is offer my condolences, and let you know how much I appreciate your honesty."

He closed his eyes and appeared almost serene, accepting the Trial.

He tried to remember the tea leaves.

    Morslum

The grand capital fortress of Haugun stood tall and mighty over the darkened land of the North. As Derius arrived he would see the grand spire leading upwards into the heavens, its dark vestige looking over the amassing army below. Upon closer inspection, Derius would come to realize that this was not just a mere fortification or final bastion. It was a city, an expansive, fortified mega-structure. Dragons could be seen swirling around its towering manifestation, each the signature black that was common among native Haugunites.

Derius would find himself greeted by a familiar mask, that of August Bile.

"It is a pleasure to meet you once again, King Ralinommu, I trust your journey was pleasant,"

Beside August stood six identically clad knights, each in full plate armor waiting patiently by his side. Derius from his extensive information network would know who these warriors were, save for the Winter Court and the Crimson Knights these were the elite of Haugunites army. Not something for Derius to be concerned about, it was more of a display than anything else.

It would remain to be seen if what knowledge would be presented to Malum Dragonson or if Derius had brought some of the shades as Malum had requested. Whatever the case this meeting was sure to be an eventful one.

"King Ralinommu, it is only the three of us?" Schneider asked. The sharp, arrogant voice of the Named Chosen, Schneider, was as human as the man had been previously.

The small smoke cloud that carried Derius and Schneider across the ocean was surrounded by heavy fog, but deep, deep beneath the surface of the sea, Nezzarellium the Sea Serpent, his long winding body, followed. They came to the landmass of Haugun and continued to move on. Nezzarellium would fade away and the heavy fog that followed Derius would continue on over the landmass.

"It is all we need, Schneider. Do you disagree?" Derius responded, inspecting his hand and clenching his fist. His rest had restored him completely and allowed him to center his thoughts. When he'd approached Nezzarellium with the proposition of going to Haugun, the Sea Serpent had been hesitant and almost outright refused...

"Brother," Derius said quietly, twirling the rocks with a wind current while his gaze remained fixed on Nezzarellium. "We must go. Malum Dragonson is expecting us."

"He's certainly expecting you. Do not try to hide that you long to face him. Gauge your power against his."

    "Yes, I do."

"What do you think of his warriors? The Crimson Knights, I have heard stories from the Southern Hunters."

    "They are loyal. Well-trained. Powerful."

"The intruder, they tell me his name was Ulfric Mordenheim. Is he strong?"

Derius knew where this was leading. The rocks stopped swirling and his gaze was met by Nezzarellium's equally stern eyes. Breaching Taetian borders that were under the protection of the Sea Serpent...

"He is. Or, I hope he is."

"No, my King. I worry. Haugun has the Crimson Knights and Malum Dragonson is the...is...Yayaya....He is the Elder Ryujin Ruler....Yayayaya...He is the most powerful in all the world."

Derius only looked forward as Morslum appeared. Schneider could barely contain himself.

They touched down and were greeted by August Bile. Bile interested Derius quite a bit and the barefoot King stepped down from his cloud, nodded at Bile, and waved Schneider down.

"My journey was very pleasant, Lord Bile. I know that King Malum asked to meet one of the Shades, but they take their work very seriously and are preoccupied. Instead, I have brought Schneider. He is my record keeper."

"Yayayayaaya." Schneider stood amongst the fog that only covered himself and Derius. "Hi."

August stood still, his signature staff clasped in his right hand. He gave no initial reaction to what Derius or Schneider had to say. Derius would notice that, unlike the blank nothingness that made up Ulfric, August's aura was most certainly pleasant. A most peculiar aura, to say the least, it was immense far greater than perhaps Derius had expected. In fact, it was probably as large if not a little smaller than his mother's.

    During her prime.

August had no reason to hide his aura, so he did not, letting it stay on full display for the Witchking to observe.
"I am sure King Malum would be more than pleased with Schneider whatever he happens to be, he is a rather intriguing specimen."

The Archmage of Haugun paused, his gaze surveying Schneider for several moments before gazing toward Nezzarellium. He walked a pace closer, taking in the aura of the Ryujin as he looked it over.
"It has been quite some time since I have seen a Ryujin without wings, we do not have any in Haugun," He paused stepping back a moment, holding a hand out in a gesture to Nezzarellium.
"The grand protector of Taetus, your dragon form is something truly wonderous to behold, I heard you have good relations with the Mirkin? Such a relationship is hard to come by, they are quite a reclusive race after all...but I will not waste your time with questions."

The classic pride of the existence of ryujin continued to shine through August's words, his tone sincere. He then turned around to give a nod to the six guards, the immense fortress gates opening up to reveal the interior hallway.

Note: For scale, the base brown part of the pillar is about the height of a human.

"Right this way your majesty, and Lord Nezzarellium, while we Haugunites do take great pride in our ryujin form, construction makes it difficult to accommodate our immense forms, eventually I am afraid you will need to transform if you wish to continue, I apologize for the inconvenience."

The polite and formal Bile was quite the stark contrast to Mordenheim, which perhaps made sense why he was sent down to greet the visitors into the city.

The transformation was swift. There was a swell of steam around Morslum; the area becoming moderately hot as the steam rose to the sky. Then he appeared, to Derius’ surprise; his brother’s human form was not lost to his memory, though it was stunning to see him after more than a century.

Of note, Derius thought, was the ease at which Nezzarellium was convinced to transform. His brother had his own reason for not preferring his human form and no one but their mother was privy to the secret. It meant that Nezzarellium thought there was something, or someone, to see inside Morslum. His brother walked forward, dripping in water. All of Morslum would find itself suddenly experiencing a downpour of rain.

Nezzarellium stopped near Derius, eyes forward toward the hall as Derius looked him up and down.

“Lord Bile’s aura is impressive, is it not?” Derius asked aloud.

“Does it make it hard for you, Schneider?” Nezzarellium questioned, ignoring Derius’ question.

“Ya...Yaya....ya.... Sea Serpent, no... I am fine. They are very, very powerful. The most powerful I’ve sensed in my lifetime.” Schneider had no aura, until now. August Bile was anything but unobservant, yet as Schneider stood in front of him, his aura seemed to suddenly... exist. And it was...

Uncommon. Not large, not small. Not dark or light. Simply, uncommon.

The trio followed August Bile into the fortress hall, Derius taking in the surroundings while Nezzarellium’s eyes only focused ahead and Schneider scratched his mask.

August Bile made his way up the stairs to inside fortress city, before stopping to view the transformation of Nezzarellium, his head tilting upward to gaze upon the downpour of rain.

"Rain, I'm not sure when the last time I saw rain around Morslum"

A small indication of the strange weather effects that took place around the fortress. Bile gave a small bang of his staff, a soft metallic sound resonating through the air as the water droplets suddenly froze and then began to collect into a sphere above his hand. A moment later it was all collected and then a bright flame sprung from the mage's hand, wrapping itself around the ball of water, evaporating it in an instant.

"Please do not take this as an insult Lord Nezzarellium, I merely did not wish the rain to interfere with the gathering army that dwells outside the city walls, they are rather... unuse to rain you see,"

He gave a small bow before he continued down the entranceway, more elites were lined against the large towering pillars. It was as if the room had been made for giants. There was a certain bustling in the area, humans bustling around their business, almost all in dark, regal clothing, the signs of a truly massive city works that lay within the belly of these stone walls.

August took a right, leading them down a far more human-sized corridor, that after a few minutes lead them to a massive library filled with scrolls.

As they passed into this expansive room they would see a few scattered robed men, upon seeing the Lord Bile and the three guests they would quickly bow, before resuming their work.

They were clearly mages, their aura, like Lord Bile's, not hidden. Why would it be? No, while certainly impressive none of the people in this room were to be noted. But the fact of their existence boded a serious problem if Derius ever did decide to attack Haugun.

Bile paused, turning back to the three men as he spoke deftly.
"I would be remised to bring you to my King and not show you some of the more notable aspects of Morslum."

He paused gauging Derius and Nezzarellium’s reactions before continuing.
"This is the grand library of Morslum, as Archmage of Haugun it is my sworn duty to ensure the prosperity of our magical arts, this great expanse of knowledge serves as the foundation of that future."

Bile began to walk, gesturing to various parts of the library as he continued speaking.
"We have been fortunate enough to... obtain a number of scrolls related to that of Sapientis and his past, the Snow Elves have quite a few hidden secrets you know, some they would rather not the outside world know about."

He spoke this with a dry sense of amusement as he then turned back to the men, tilting his head in contemplation.
"While I am afraid you are not allowed to touch any scrolls, not at this juncture, feel free to take in the sheer beauty of it all, there is no rush, I assure you,"

Derius, though genuinely interested in the sights of Morslum, said nothing. He only listened and thought as Bile spoke. Schneider only laughed, “Yayayayaya” and nodded his head after every sentence. Nezzarellium paid little attention until they arrived at the library and he saw the mages. Then he stopped.

“You are the Archmage of Haugun? And lead the rest of these mages?”

Bile, surveyed the trio, wondering what Derius thought of the immense collection of knowledge. He turned to Nezzarellium, he tilted his head, the inner workings of Haugun were a closely guarded secret, the knowledge of the Winter Court's existence still remarkable sparse in Regnum.
"Yes I am, as the Archmage I oversee the magical aspects of our kingdom and military whereas Lord Mordenheim, Champion of Haugun, oversees the more physical combat-minded aspects of our military. Lord Kayne oversees us both, which allows for King Dragonson to go about his business unimpeded by the bureaucracy of our nation,"

He tilted his head curiously to them both as he lifted his hand up in a palm to the sky.
"No doubt you are curious to my own nature, mine is rather unusual, but for now, know this. The Winter Court, we are all Elder Ryujin,"

“Is this true, Derius?” Nezzarellium inquired as he watched August Bile raise his hand.

“Yes. Lord Kayne, Lord Mordenheim, and obviously Lord Bile here, are all Elder ryujins.”

Nezzarellium looked at August Bile differently now. It was not in awe; it was with a curiosity. “You unlocked your Elder form at your age...”

Derius interjected, noticing Schneider beginning to drool.

“Will I be given an audience with all of the Crimson Knights today?”

Bile gave a dry, warm chuckle at Nezzarellium's comment.
"Indeed, although perhaps what should interest you more Lord Nezzarellium is the fact Haugun was not fortunate to be given the rediscovered art of the Elder Form by Zalzabar. It is after all from what I understand usually quite a laborious process,"

His attention then turned to Schneider who appeared to be foaming at the mouth, a rather odd creature, he wondered why Derius had chosen him of all people to accompany him.
    "Yes, I reckon you will,"

He then paused for a moment before beginning to walk through the rest of the library, giving an indication for them to follow.

They would be walking for about another forty-five minutes or so, the sheer amount of time it took to transverse the city fortress was an indication to the sheer scope of the structure. They would pass by grand marketplaces, and expansive dwellings within, the quiet militaristic bustle of a nation preparing for war. They would stop by any of this however, Bile not seeing it as important enough to mull over, still the sight of the activity was something to behold.

However as they walked Bile would give a brief history of how Morslum came to be.
"The grand fortress city of Morslum was built over five hundred years by King Dragonson himself. He came to the barren wasteland that was Haugun at the time and transformed it into the wondrous kingdom it is today. My King's mastery of Earth and Metallic magic proved most useful in creation of this grand city,"

A few moments afterwards they would begin to enter another room, one where the heat was intense, the sensation of lava close at hand.

Down below they would be able to see various robed men, similar to the ones that had seen before. They were arranged in teams of three, two mages in human form manipulating large pieces of metal to fold as a dragon breathed intense flame onto the metal, whacking it flat with its large tail. The sheets were huge, far larger than one would expect.
"Well one may think it is strange to forge armor for a dragon of all things, the ballistae that Athas has have proven to be quite troublesome... this is just one potential solution to that problem."

He paused, gesturing a hand to indicate for the men to observe the grand arcane forge of Haugun. They would also spot more traditional, human sized armor was being made, that and the many swords, spears and shield needed to outfit the Haugunite army. The process seemed streamlined, efficient. Bile stood, waiting to see if he could gauge any reaction from the men.

“Athas’ ballista are known around Regnum for hundreds of years. It is part of the reason why the capital has stood for so long. The armor should prove useful. I would recommend manufacturing steel-braided nets that attach to the underbelly of your ryujin. The ballista’s projectiles can be entangled in the net and though you will lose some from a lower formation, you would position your more specialized ryujin above the bottom rows.”

The comment came as Derius raised an arm to scratch his shoulder, looking down in the mighty pool of lava and the forges that surrounded the cavity. He observed the cavity, his eyes wandering and analyzing. Schneider drummed on his mask and repeated his “Yayayaya” laughter, quietly to himself.

“What do you think, Schneider?” The Sea Serpent asked, also taking in the room.

“It reminds me of home, Nezzy. It is the fourth most efficient and fantastic arcane forge I have seen.”

    “And August Bile?”

“The most powerful mage I have ever met.... Yayayayay.”

Nezzarellium placed a hand on Schneider’s chest and closed his eyes. “Is it hard to focus, Schneider?”

    “Not yet... Yayayayay...Nezzy....”

Bile gave a small nod of his head at Derius's suggestion, replying tactfully.
"Yes, I shall inform the head forge master of your suggestion, it sounds like quite a wise one,"

He then inclined his head curiously at Nezzarellium and Schneider, the extra guest still ever tantalizing the Archmage's curiosity. He gave a good hearty chuckle at Schneider's comments on that it was the 'fourth' best arcane forge he had ever seen. He seemed more bemused than offended by this statement.
"You have yet to meet most powerful mage of this land, I am sure you are all quite keen to meet him."

He gave a brief incline of his head in the direction they were supposed to head towards.
"Focus... home... I suppose Schneider is not native to Taetus I take it?

“He is as native to Taetus as the Sea Serpent and myself. His focus is what allows for such accurate record keeping. Isn’t that right, Schneider?”

    Yayayayay... Indeed, my King.”

Derius’ analysis of the arcane forge was complete. His demeanor was still light but after almost an hour of a tour, he was beginning to become agitated.

“Does Malum think that a tour of Morslum is more important than the invasion we have to discuss? Or is he busy? If he is, we can take our leave. I appreciate your hospitality, Lord Bile, but a King’s time is precious, is it not?”

Bile gave another chuckle, Derius was a shrewd man, the Right Hand of the Sun respected that.
"Do forgive me, I thought a man of your... curiosity... would want to see the inner workings of Morslum, but very well, we shall go off to meet my King, it has been long-awaited,"

Bile gave another short bow, before leading them out of the arcane forge, leading them away to a grand spiral staircase that ascended upwards in the greatest heights of the tower. In time they would come to a grand set of doors, one that Bile would open with a light tap of his staff to the ground, the door making a few clacking noises before opening up to a grand throne room.

Before the grand doors to what was Malum Dragonson's throne room, Derius gestured for Nezzarellium to stay back while Schneider continued on a few feet ahead with their escort and tour guide. The language the brothers began to converse in was an unknown tongue to every individual in the world except them and their mother, though she only understood parts of it. A language the brothers had developed in their teenage years once Derius knew that one day he would ascend to the throne. His brother was the only person he could trust and it was Esenma who had taught them both that. On the edge of the world, it would always be Derius looking at Nezzarellium.

"illluuuuuu---- dericus-du-M, si si Schneider un regu?" There appeared to accompanying gestures to the language that Derius signed out with his right hand to Nezzarellium.

Nezzarellium tapped his head rhythmically and responded: "Si si, Schneider u regu."

"Mul, mulshi mulshi, Schneider unoi dericus-du-M si Morslum."

Nezzarellium shook his head and a look of disappointment formed on his face towards his brother. "Nuunoi."

    Derius nodded.

    "Unte-du-Suutreen tier ai mum-butrum Othos. Athas. Risova-du-borale, c'est nefar Athas ai dericus-du-M."

There seemed to be an order or agreement reached before the brothers stepped forward as the chamber doors opened.

"My King I humbly introduce King Derius Ralinommu, Lord Nezzarellium Ralinommu, and the Record Keeper of Taetus, Schneider..."

Opening of the door all three men would feel it, a great surge of aura spilling out from the room, several powerful beings lying behind the door. Along the singular red passageway that led upwards to the throne, there were six warriors, each clad in red three on each side.

On the left were two visages familiar to that of Derius.

The first was that of Roger the Red, the only Haugun-aligned non-ryujin that was currently in the room, his towering height and piercing eyes beaming with scorn hatred to Derius. The man beside him was the other crimson knight that Derius had direct contact with in the past.

    Sonus the Sound Dragon

The last one on the left side Derius had not met but would have surely heard of threw his information network.

It was a Mirkin of all things, his name Kharvas of the Waterblade. He was famous for his combination of fusing the way of the blade and his keen sense of water magic to make for a deadly warrior. Additionally from what Derius could gather out of the Crimson Knights Kharvas by far had spent the most time leading raids along and into Athas for the last few decades. What a Mirkin, who were a traditionally very reserved and isolated species, was doing among the Crimson Knights was unknown to Derius.

To the right of the group were three more Crimson Knights, the first of which was a woman with white hair, and an almost regal air about her.

This was one of the only two Crimson Knights Derius had little to no information on, and it would not take him long to deduce that this was indeed the daughter of Malum Dragonson. Her capabilities were unknown to him, but he could feel the quiet, crackling power dwelling behind her calm, emotionless eyes.

Another woman stood beside Malum's daughter, notably the only Crimson Knight that was not clad in red armor, simply wearing a simple, plain tunic. Her fiery red hair trailing gracefully down her back. Derius would be able to tell that this was a wood elf, the enigmatic Sanguis, the Blood Moon Dragon. Like that of many of her kin, her nature was tied strongly to nature. But that of blood magic, a rather rare nature that was often thought to be lost to the ages. She rarely went into confrontations so the true extent of her capabilities were, like that of many in Haugun, an unknown variable.

The last of the group Derius would also not recognize, mainly due to the fact that this was an extremely fresh recruit of the Crimson Knights, taking the spot of the captured Elizabeth. A quiet indication that Malum had no intention of asking for Elizabeth's return.

All six Crimson Knights would remain silent, as the man sat on the throne in the distance descended. He walked long confident strides to meet the Witchking of Taetus. As the figure approached Derius would feel his aura blast over him, raw, unshackled power. It was by far the greatest aura the Witchking had come across, the sheer force of it was staggering. The quiet rhythmic steps echoed through the hallway, almost in tandem with the waves of aura that washed over them all.

There was no mistaking it. It was him. Malum Dragonson, in the flesh.

    No familiar.

    No golem.

    No illusion.

    It was the man himself.

"At long last Derius Ralinommu, we meet."

The Crimson Knights, some known to Derius and other not, lined the walkway to the throne room. Nezzarellium only knew of some of them, mainly Roger the Red and Kharvas of the Waterblade. He turned to the Mirkin and presented his open palms: It was how he greeted all Mirkin, with respect that they had accepted him into their seas, regardless of allegiances to one Kingdom or another. But he quickly dropped the gesture to watch Schneider. Derius ignored most of the Knights until his eyes found Bellus Dragonson. The room grew small around him as he gazed upon her form. He had little knowledge of her, but being in her presence now assured him. He turned from her as King Malum rose from his seat and descended.

Schneider patted his mask and began to drool again. Then stopped as the aura of Malum bellowed forth and washed over the Taetian trio.

Malum's aura was unbridled and raw; like an avalanche moving growing and growing as it moved down a mountain. Derius could tell it was only a natural behavior for Malum. His Crimson Knights had done the same thing when he encountered them before. In contrast, Derius' aura only rolled over his own person, though given Malum's, he extended it to cover Schneider. The Named Chosen took a step towards Malum before Nezzarellium placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Is it hard for you to focus, Schneider?" He asked again.

Schneider this time was calm in his response, patting his mask with one hand as his aura began to grow. "Yes...Much Much harder. King Malum is like the other one."

Derius agreed with the comment and spoke directly to Malum.

"King Malum, Morslum is as glorious as one would expect. Where are you in your preparations for the attack?"

Malum surveyed Derius, Nezzarellium, and Schneider taking all three men in, judging them, gauging their powers, their weakness.

The King of Haugun gestured with his hands, but to work magic, to indicate to sit down. At the same time, twelve stone chairs erected themselves from the ground, the magic of Malum Dragonson. Six were aligned along the sides for the Crimson Knights, three for the Taetians, and the final three where Malum stood. Bile walked over to the right of Malum, taking his seat in this spot.
"I am glad you recognize the glory of Morslum, please sit, we have much to discuss and your journey must have been long,"

As he spoke an elaborate stone table raised itself in the center, positioned perfectly amongst the chairs.
"We are close to finalizing our preparations for the invasion of Athas, the primary obstacle of the Athas Ballistae should prove little issue, in fact in all honesty would probably could have invaded several months ago."

He then became silent. The sound of an opening door to the side as a butler walked through, beside him hovered a trap with many kinds of drinks, as well as the glasses to contain them. The glasses would hover before each member at the stone table as the butler walked up to the three guests first.

"Honored guests, what is it that you would like to drink?"

It was a Haugunite custom to always have a drink when discussing important business, and despite the brutality of the Haugun regime good hospitality when in their lands was a must. Perhaps this was an olive branch Malum was extending, whether Derius would accept it or not remained to be seen.

The Taetian brothers all declined drinks. Derius did not drink alcohol and Nezzarellium did not trust the Haugunites. Schneider ordered two alcoholic drinks. The Chosen needed something to dampen his aura, if it was at all possible. It was getting harder to contain himself and Derius and Nezzarellium were going to notice more and more. He must focus on recording the words and the actions.

"Then why didn't you, Malum?" Nezzarellium asked, eyeing the open seat to the side of the Haugun King.

The butler gave a brief bow, serving the guests as jugs and bottles floating in the air their contents pouring out in an elegant display. Their glasses filled, some of the Crimson Knights began to take from their drinks. Although Solis, Bellus and the new Crimson Knight did not.

Malum sipped from his own ornate glass, a fine blended wine exclusive to Haugun.

"Just because I could have does not mean it would have been wise to do so, the cost would have been great. With the aid of your forces, the attack into Athas shall be swift and decisive. I did not want a long, grueling campaign, even if it was won I would surely win,"

He paused, eyeing Nezzarellium, and then Schneider.

"The first thing I would like to discuss is the coordinated attack. If we can make targeted, swift attacks onto the key ballistae sites we should be able to cleave through Athas lines straight to their capital with the numerous draconic forces with have in our employ,"

He paused, looking again toward Derius, a wry smile on his face.

"You seem to be an expert when it comes to covert operations, indeed it took my agents quite some time to discover those hellhounds of yours dwelling within our lands. I expert you should be able to come up with an operation to swiftly take our the Atharian forces that man these Ballistae, yes?"

Derius returned the smile to Malum. "I had to know what kind of country Haugun was before choosing you as allies." He thought for a quick moment. "You should not expect a swift victory against Athas and you should expect to lose many of your ranks. The ballistae are numerous and, even with pinpoint attacks, the hopes of significantly weakening them are thin. We could hope for possibly a quarter of them to be destroyed even with thorough espionage. This not factor in the ground forces of Othos nor their own ryujin. It will be a lengthy siege. I have my best men surveying the land in and around the Capital. Any siege should begin with burning their crops and cutting off their access to streams and rivers. They will still be able to pull water from the wells, which we will poison. All of this ... a week before the main offensive."

    Nezzarellium raised a hand.

"How many ryujin will you deploy in the offensive, Malum?"

His brother spoke and Derius slid his gaze back to Bellus.

Malum took another sip from his wine, contemplating for a moment, catching the gaze that Derius gave towards Bellus. Bellus would simply give Derius a nod, clasping her cup of wine but not partaking of it.

"Ten thousand Ryujin. Another three thousand non-Ryujin to support them. The remaining Haugunite forces shall remain in the homeland."

It was generally well known that Haugun had the highest percentage of Ryujin among their population. Zafir being the only other nation to have more Ryujin overall. Derius would know that Haugun contained around two million souls and Athas around eight million. Still, Thirteen thousand troops would not be enough to hold Athas.

"Those thirteen thousand however only make up our human and elven forces."

There was a glint in his eyes as he made a gesture to the butler who then proceeded to bring a chest out and place it in front of the guests. Malum then snapped his fingers the chest burst open with a creature of rock and lightning becoming born out of the box.

"My mother was a gifted earth mage, before she tragically passed away, I learned much of her knowledge, we have four thousand more of these elementals, in various configurations, waiting to be commanded."

Malum then turned his gaze directly to Derius, his eyes looking towards his own. He allowed the elemental to stay for a moment for Derius to take in before dismissing it with a wave of his hands.

"So Derius if I recall correctly I humbly requested two things, your research on forcing out the elder form from Elizabeth and secondly the shades...although it appears you have brought one of your 'Chosen' instead."

Solis and Roger noticeably stiffened at the mention of Elizabeth although no one made any comment or reaction to it.

Derius gave Schneider a look as the Chosen’s laugh began again.

“My Shades are busy at work going over the research from our experiments on Elizabeth thus far. I will not bore you with turning over incomplete results. And...”

He did not take his eyes off of Bellus.

“Schneider here is more important as it pertains to the attack on Athas. He will be accompanying me on the invasion.”

    Nezzarellium was growing impatient.

    “Malum, where is Ulfric Mordenheim?”

Schneider stood from the table: Yayayaya.... Yes, Ulfric Mordenheim!”

Derius turned away from Bellus to look at Malum. “My brother would like to have a word with Lord Ulfric it appears. Then possibly, I can show you just where I currently am with forcing out Elder forms. I’d need a volunteer. A ryujin that has not yet achieved the form.”

The smile on Malum's face vanished. His face grew grim.

"You capture one of my Knights, I invite you into the very heart of the Kingdom of Haugun, I instruct Bile to show you the great inner workings of Morslum, you refuse the hospitality of my servants, request information on my forces, you do not bring the shades I asked for, not even bothering to spare one, you bring this ridiculous 'record keeper' not explaining what he is for or his true purpose and you have the gall, the sheer audacity to not only withhold the research on my stolen knight but to demand where Lord Ulfric Mordenheim is."

Malum's eyes grew narrow, his hand clasping the cup of wine, setting it down as he looked back up to Derius.

"I invited you to this alliance for one very simple reason, I cannot bring Sapientis back by myself, and neither can you. Cease the politics Derius Ralinommu, if you truly wish to bring back Sapientis you will be more cooperative."

    His eyes turned to Nezzarellium.

"If you must know, he is in the Void."

The Crimson Knights nervously looked around Malum's calm outburst, all save Bellus. She looked directly to Derius, her chin resting on her palm as she looked to the Witchking.

"Come, come now father look at them, they have no idea what they are getting themselves into, Derius I'm sure little silly Elizabeth had been blabbing her mouth on and on but it would seem she stayed loyal till the end, the poor fool. You see what my father is withholding here, is well... I am sure you recall when you met Lord Mordenheim you could not feel his essence... you see, he has an exceptionally rare nature... Void,"

She stood, walking over to Witchking her face about a foot from his side.

"Lord Mordenheim is busy talking to Ignis. I am sure you can understand why he is not exactly free to talk right now."

A wicked smile grew over her lips, her eyes gazing into Derius's gazing the reaction of the Witchking.

The name of Ignis brought forth many things to Derius’ mind. But his face remained as it had been: painted with pleasant curiosity. So close to Bellus, the resemblance was uncanny and the aura was almost the same.

    Nezzarellium responded for him.

“Ignis... You ask my brother to be forthcoming and you hide information like this from us.”

Derius responded as he gazed into Bellus’ eyes.

“Nezzarellium, it is normal for Kings to keep secrets from each other. I would lose respect for King Malum otherwise. We are allies. You are right, King Malum. Let me introduce you to one of my Shades.”

He was there. As if he’d always been there. Towering behind Derius, gazing down from a dozen feet over Bellus, Cassius moaned in a low, slow-paced, tired tone.

    “King—-Derius,——how——may—I—-serve——you?”

“I’ve just been informed of Ignis’ presence. As well as Ulfric Mordenheim’s nature being a Void nature. Schneider?”

Yayayaya, yes, I will keep record of everything, my King.”

“Service, Malum... it is the difference between beings like your daughter, the Knights, the Shades, the Chosen and... us.” He continued to hold Bellus’ gaze as Schneider’s aura grew to match her’s and continued to increase. “No matter how powerful one is, as long as their service can be called on by another, they will never be as powerful as they think. Bellus, you understand, right? You understand... your place.”

Nezzarellium knew that it was still Derius speaking, so he remained quiet and still irritated at Mordenheim’s absence.

“You serve at the behest of your father, loyal and graciously so. It is honorable. But you do so because you know it: You know you don’t have the power to rule, don’t you? Malum...” his gaze shifted. “I was able to unlock Elizabeth’s elder form, but the art is not what I would call precise. You wonder about Schneider and, as long as we are allies, you will continue to wonder. For Schneider’s purpose is secret, and you would lose respect for me if I was to reveal it so flippantly.”

Schneider patted his helmet, in rhythm.

Bellus was the first to respond, her smile never fading from her lips. Instead, she gave a dry chuckle at Derius's retort, clearly bemused by what he had to say.

"My, my I can certainly see why Taetus has prospered so."

    She leaned in slightly closer.

"You are a handsome one, a shame you are not a Ryujin, although I suppose Sapientis could fix that once he is made whole once again. A marriage would surely strengthen our alliance would it not father?"

She glanced to Malum as she said this final line, most of the Crimson Knights shuffled nervously in their seats as she spoke, all save Sanguis who merely rolled her eyes and chuckled quietly.

Malum seemed to relax after what Derius, Nezzarellium, and Bellus had to say. He gave a chuckle at his daughter's suggestion, she always a bold one, even if it was inappropriate to be suggesting such things in the manner that she was.

"Bellus you know better than to suggest such things at a time like this, take your seat."

The King of Haugun gestured back to her seat and she complied, sitting neatly in it.

    "To address your question..."

Her calm, calculating gaze looking back to Derius a hint of smirk in her eyes.

"I am young and we are human, unlike you. So the time will come when my father will pass on and he will need an heir. I have yet to unlock my own elder form, I have ample time to fulfill my potential. Although I suppose even elves full-blooded or otherwise need heirs to take their place eventually."

Malum after carefully looking towards her daughter, his eyes now calm, looked back to Derius.

"Indeed Derius you are quite right, forgive my imprudence. It pleases me to know that the Elder Form can indeed be forced out, I suspected as much. Very well I shall accept and respect that Schneider's true purpose shall be an unknown."

He tilted his head, resting it on his fist, as he took a sip from his wine.

"Doubtless you now have boundless questions about Ignis, the Void, and Ulfric, but first I have a few of my own questions regarding these shades."

He gave a look over to Bile who seemed fascinated by Cassius, appraising it as he listened to Malum's questions.

"I understand that these Shades are 'single use' and not for combat. What purpose do they serve? I would imagine for your research?"

He then gave a look to the disgruntled Nezzarellium.

"Lord Mordenheim will be back soon, when exactly I cannot be certain. I have no means of communicating with him when he is within the Void."

The answer about Mordenheim did not please Nezzarellium. The ryujin placed his hands on the table and exhaled. These people were his allies, he remembered, and the time would come eventually when Mordenheim would be put in his place; Derius had assured his brother of that.

“Cassius is a Summoner. Any being that bears his marking,” Derius, Nezzarellium, and Schneider all revealed a portion of their body: for Derius and Schneider the marking was on their right pectoral leading to the shoulder and upon Nezzarellium’s abdomen the marking was visible underneath his left set of ribs. “Can be summoned to Cassius’ location. It has proven invaluable for our research purposes.”

Bellus's eyes narrowed as she was unable to judge the reaction Derius gave, seemingly ignoring her response. She did not make a big show of it, but it seemed that ignoring her had gotten under her skin far more than his little put down of her not being strong enough to rule.

Malum paid no attention to this, absorbing the information Derius supplied regarding Cassius. It would seem the other new unnamed Knight perked up slightly at the mention that Cassius was a Summoner.

"How fascinating, it would seem Cassius's summoning works quite differently than yours Arkon. Is that not the case?"

Malum then turned a glance to the new Crimson Knight, the faceless helm leaning forward in recognition of its King.

"It would appear so your majesty."

The Knight then fell silent, his head tilted towards Derius in a renewed interest.

"Now Derius. What is it you wish to know about the Void?"

Malum was certain a man of Derius's curiosity and insight wanted to know more about the Void that Legend said that Sapientis was trapped within. The new nuggets of information that Malum and Bellus had dropped were sure to give a flood of questions to the Witchking.

"Tell me everything that you're willing to share, Malum. I will ask questions when I need elaboration." Derius folded his arms.

Malum gave a slow nod of his head, clasping his hands together as he contemplated for a moment. And then began to speak.

"As the folk tales of every nation speak about Sapientis fought against the Three and was sealed away into the Void. This is somewhat inaccurate. While yes he was indeed spilt in two, that of Ignis and Gelida, Gelida was sealed within the mortal realm, deep below the desert of Xan while Ignis was sealed in the Void. This was done as if they were both sealed within the Void and were somehow able to join together the immense power of Sapientis might have been able to escape. The Snow Elves have known of this for eons, kept it selfishly to themselves as they feel ashamed for rebelling against the Three. "

He paused thinking for a moment before continuing.

"There are places within the world where the gap between the Void and Regnum becomes thin, it changes with the times every ten thousand years or so it can become so thin that one powerful enough in the Void can almost reached out and influence the mortal realm. Kathos is one such of these places."

He looked towards Derius again, who was liking already seeing where this was going.

"The last time this was the case was one hundred and fifty years ago. It would seem Ignis did three main things during his short window. One was to call out to any that could feel his presence. The second was that to any that grew near to Kathos and were sympathetic to that of the Great One, they would be blessed with a vision of his eventual return and general instructions on what to do. The third and most important was to gift a young newborn the nature of the Void."

He tilted his head, glancing over to Nezzarellium.

"Ulfric Mordenheim was that child. I found him, took him in, and trained him as best I could. There is also the matter of Noxtoten, he is an ancient being, far, far older than most realize. He served beneath Sapientis in the war against the three. His soul is however bound he is unable to make any direct action to bring his master back. But what he can do is train others to do it. That is what he did for myself and what he did for Ulfric."

His head turned to Derius, his eyes glinting with quiet excitement.

    "Any questions thus far?"

The eyes of the Witchking peered and closed to slits.

“What has Ulfric Mordenheim gained from this traversals into the “Void”? What has Ignis had to say?”

Just as Derius asked his question he, along with his brother, Cassius and Schneider would feel a wellspring of energy appear beside the empty seat. A hissing noise as if the energy was tearing at the air.

An ethereal portal opened itself out of seemingly nowhere, a moment later the towering form of Ulfric Mordenheim stepped out.

He stood tall, giving a bow toward Malum, and then looked towards Derius and Nezzarellium. In his right hand appeared to be a vial filled with some sort of red liquid.

"My King, forgive me for interrupting, I was not sure when King Derius would arrive."

Malum gave a smirk, looking towards Ulfric.

"Do not worry yourself, Derius was just inquiring what you have gained from the Void and our Lord Ignis. Perhaps it is best for you to explain yourself."

Ulfric took a seat, nodding to Malum, setting the vial in front of him on the stone table.

"As you wish my King. But first, it is best if they understand how my nature works exactly have you explained this?"

Malum gave a half shake of his head, his fingers to his lips, looking to Ulfric and then back to Derius.

"As is fairly well-known Illusion Mages draw upon the energies of the Void in order to augment their aura. Although they would rarely admit it. My nature takes this a step further I am able to rip holes into the Void and transverse through them. Ignis is chained and trapped within there the magic seal far beyond my capabilities to break. But he has informed me on how to bring him back, along with granting gifts."

He paused, looking toward Nezzarellium as he spoke next.

"The three dragon-god artifacts, the Sword of Tellus, the Crown of Caelum, and the Trident of Pelagus were used to seal Ignis into the Void. It is only with those three that we can bring him back. Each must be wielded by a capable powerful ruler. In addition to that it is with Ignis's blood that we have been able to obtain our Elder Forms."

He looked to the vial, a gesture of his hands as he floated it toward Nezzarellium.

"Zalzabar was the one to rediscover the lost art of the Elder Form, but naturally he was not going to give this secret to Malum and his cohort, and thus Ignis presented a solution to this power indifference. His blood. It is with this that King Malum, Lord Kayne, Lord Bile, and myself have obtained our Elder forms. Ignis in his infinite wisdom wanted this gift to be given to Lord Nezzarellium."

Nezzarellium was intrigued and grabbed the vial from the air. The story of Ignis, the Void; he barely contained the interest he was feeling as a raised eyebrow greeted his possession of the vial. Derius looked at his brother’s eyes and subtle joy; the engagement in Nezzarellium’s face was something that he had not seen in his brother since they were first learning magic.

He spoke in their personal tongue. Nezzarellium shook the bottle and spoke back. The others at the table could piece together whom they were speaking of by the mention of Ulfric’s name. The exchange was short.

Derius’ arms were still folded across his chest, his posture relaxed.

“What else have you seen whilst in the Void, Ulfric? And why have you not taken your King with you?”

Malum and Ulfric looked to each other as the two brothers spoke to each in their own language a nod of understanding between the two as Ulfric glanced to Derius.

"It would seem only beings of the Void, or those of a large enough Will may transverse through my portals. Mind you when I say large enough I speaking on the scale of Ignis not that of you or my King."

He tilted his head, contemplating over the first part of Deriu's question.

"There are many things that dwell within the Void, it is as if once is traveling in honey, blinded with almost no senses to speak of. There are many beings that call out of the Void, some of which I have been able to take out of the Void with me. We simply dub them 'the Void Dwellers'. With enough effort I am are able to exert their will to follow my bidding. I am sure my King would be glad to show you them in due time."

Larger will then Derius or Malum... The idea caused the Witchking to think of Schneider. Will and Aura were not synonymous and while he was certain Schneider’s aura could surpass Malum and himself, Schneider was not of the sort of Will that would be useful when it came to entering the void nor was he on the same level of will as Derius or Malum. But possibly, there was another option...

“Malum and the Winter Court... All of you have taken Ignis’ blood and it brought forth your Elder form? This would be only the 5th vial that a mortal has consumed of Half of the Dark Lord?”

Nezzarellium felt tempted to devour the vial. Though, he was not sure what would happen.

Malum gave a slow nod of his head as he spoke.

"That would be correct Nezzarellium. I know the immediate questions that must be coming to your mind."

Ulfric looked to him seeing the back and forth in the Ryujin's mind as he contemplated whether or not to take the potion. He gave a chuckle and then continued.

"First and foremost is that of what happens when a Ryujin consumes the blood of Ignis. Well, I must admit it is not what I would call a pleasant experience. It would be as if you are undergoing an intense fever, the blood is resonating with the Will of the consumer and changing their Aura, enlarging it to the capabilities of an Elder. This will last for twelve or so hours it varies on how strong the Will and Aura of the person is before they consume it. Once complete it feels as if one has been reborn, power booming through your veins as the deepest recesses of your Ryujin blood have been coaxed out by the power of the Primordial Human."

He folded his hands neatly in front of him thinking for a moment.

"It will stay take time for you to train in your Elder Form to bring it to full strength but from what I understand the usual method takes a series of precise intense training that can take anywhere from weeks to decades to complete."

Malum then swiftly raised a finger as if in caution.

"It should also be noted that Lord Ignis has informed us that if the Aura of anyone that consumes it is too weak they will die. Hence why we do not pass his blood out freely to our own troops or that even to these Knights here."

It would have become noticeable at this point that Bellus, Solis, and Roger all seemed agitated that Nezzarellium was being gifted this mythical liquid. Although they were all annoyed for a variety of different reasons.

Bellus stood dramatically at Malum's final line, looking to him with annoyance. She knew it was not her father's decision to give Nezzarellium the vial over her, that it was an order from Ignis himself but nevertheless the anger was there all the same.

"Father if it quite alright with you I would like to be excused. There are far better things I could be doing right now"

Nezzarellium held the vial up to his face and examined it closely before a drop of it fell to the table. He wiped it up with his finger and held it for a moment.

“Ignis has granted me personally a vial of his blood. I will honor it and use it, no matter the personal cost.”

Derius waved Cassius away and the Shade was suddenly gone.

“Malum, I would like to speak to you alone.”

Bellus gave Derius another dirty look, taking the indication to leave an excuse to do so before her father even responded.

"Esenma used her Elder Form Derius, from the looks of her I'd say she won't be able to walk for quite some time."

Lightning crackled around her as she burst away in a display of red sparks off to who knows where.

Malum paid no heed to his daughter's snark remarks, giving a wave of his hands to dismiss the other Crimson Knights, who all got up from their seats, bowing before their King before exiting down the central passageway.

He then looked to Bile who gave a bow before also exiting through the same way.

All who remained were Schneider, Ulfric, Nezzarellium, and Malum.

"If you still wish to speak to Mordenheim you can do so in that side chamber"

His question was directed to Nezzarellium, he pointed to a separate smaller door than the one they had come from.

Nezzarellium would exit to the side room, tucking the vial into his waistline.

As the door closed behind him, Nezzarellium approached Ulfric Mordenheim.

“My brother spent most of the trip here attempting to convince me not to attack you on sight due to your infiltration of Goredom. It is my understanding that it was reciprocal due to the act of Derius taking one of yours by force, despite my brother considering it an “invitation”. Accept my attempt to balance our debts.”

Nezzarellium looked around the side room, choosing his next words.

“What do you know about my brother, Ulfric Mordenheim?”

Ulfric smile beneath his mask, not that Nezzarellium would be able to tell. The side chamber they were in was well lit, with a few padded long chairs and a small raging fire in the corner. Ulfric sat in one gesturing for Nezzarellium to do the same opposite him.

"Yes well the Void allows me to travel across Regnum in an instant, it was a simple matter to walk into Goredom."

He said this with some amusement in his voice as he considered Nezzarellium's question.

"He is a gifted mage, perhaps the greatest non-ryujin mage to have ever lived. His strength however appears to come more from technique and his sharp mind than from his raw strength, or so I gather from the report Roger gave. His magic his quite potent against us Ryujin, seems he spent his whole life developing it to counter us. An intelligent decision."

He looked upwards, thinking for a moment before responding.

"I am unsure why he, a non-ryujin, would want the return of Sapientis. I believe my Master asked some time ago but I was not there in attendance when he asked Derius. But tell me... why do you wish to see his return?"

"I wish to see my brother's plans come to fruition. Unlike in Haugun, in the North ryujin are viewed with intense focus on the spiritual and ritual symbolism of their presence. They are more rare there and historically the ryujin of the North have protected various regions of Taetus before we were all united. This was the case for thousands of years, until my brother united us. It took a non-ryujin to see that we were at our strongest when we were whole; that we could accomplish anything when we were united. The Dark Lord Sapientis' return will bring Regnum to its highest level or destroy it utterly is what my brother believes. The scientist inside him drives him to see which is our collective true destiny."

Nezzarellium took a seat, pulling an axe from his belt and laying it across his lap.

"You are correct in surmising that the Witchking's strength does not lie in raw power. There have been times when he can reach truly unique levels of power, but the strain begs the question of why?: Raw power is just another tool to accomplish one's goal. He has unlocked others. Malum and Derius...those at that level understand that."

Ulfric considered the words of the Ryujin from Taetus, thinking them over as he brought his armored hand to the base of his faceplate.

"I see quite intriguing, I do like to learn about the Ryujin from different cultures, to see how our greatness evolves and shapes the society around it."

He looked to the fire, watching it dance and swerve, a mesmerizing piece that unfurled itself before him.

"Tell me of your Mother... what happened to cause such a rift?"

Nezzarellium glanced at the fire before returning to Ulfric.

"She disagreed with Derius' desire to unite the North. The bloodshed, by that time, had become too much for her. The Skydragon roams, from place to place. She is as free as the wind. The only reason she remained in Taetus for her youth was because she was in love with our father. Derius is Taetus, as am I. Anyone who opposed unification was either killed or brought under submission. It had to be so and it cost both Derius and I much. The lengths we had to go to for unification are not stories of legend, they are stories of necessity. Mother called them atrocities and sensed that Derius had decided that should she oppose him, then she would be treated as an enemy even in her own homeland. She has never returned, even after Taetus was united. But she is always welcomed back. She is our mother."

Ulfric nodded his head as he listed to Nezzarellium, his head looking up to the Ryujin once he finished his tale.

    "I see."

He looked back at the fire, his mind wandering.

"I never had a father or mother, none other than King Malum."

He spoke this more to himself than to Nezzarellium and then looked back to him.

"Is there anything else you wish to discuss?"

"No." And like Cassius disappeared before him, Nezzarellium was gone.

“There are many things you have hid from me, Malum. I appreciate the forthcoming of some of these things, specifically the knowledge of the Void that you have gained from Ulfric Mordenheim. But I must ask....”

Schneider faced Malum, drooling as his aura finally stopped rising. He reached to scratch his shoulder and Malum would notice that Schneider could not abrade his own skin: it was harder than steel.

“What is so important about Athas?”

Malum looked at the creature, he had been studying it this entire time. Was it feeding off his aura? He tilted his head in curiosity, what an odd concept.

    He looked to Derius.

"Yes I did, but I was not about to dispense secrets to the son of Esenma before I knew what he wanted."

He laid his fingers on the table, tapping them slightly as he cautiously watched Schneider.

"We must search for the Dragon-God Artifacts Derius. Athas is Zalzabar's strongest and closest ally, if it captured he has very few allies remaining. While he may be a Zafirian they are not exactly keen on having him back, you see my brother is Hector Dragonson, and while my brother and I do not see eye to eye I know without question he does not like Zalzabar."

He continued to tap his fingers, electricity crackling from their tips to the table so as he drummed his fingers sparks would fly out from underneath them.

"Athas also serves as a key strategical location for future campaigns, and if Zalzabar is somehow able to convince Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Orcs, or any of the other races lurking around Athas that the threat of Sapientis is real they may join Athas. Such a threat at our doorstep is not a welcome one. Most of the world still thinks of Sapientis as a long-lost myth, nothing more, that however will change as we draw near to his rebirth."

The Haugunite King stopped, looking towards Derius once more, a question of his own formulating.

    "There is one last reason."

    "..."

"Noxtoten and I parted ways some time ago, as is known he lies deep with the forests of the Wood Elves. He holds an artifact, one known as the Eye of Pelagus. With it, one can track where the Trident of Pelagus is located."

Malum gave a small smirk, his eyes meeting with Derius's.

"There are two more eyes, one for each artifact. Lord Ignis wants you, Derius, to go after the Trident of Pelagus."

    Derius blinked and responded quickly.

"Is that what Lord Ignis wants? Then it should be easy for you to ask your old master Noxtoten to hand the Eye over."

"Indeed, it is what he wants. If only it were that easy, I have not had contact with Noxtoten in quite some time, and the man has knowledge of some quite ancient magic, it would appear he has set up a network to prevent teleportation or gates from the Void being opened up in his domain or I would have sent Mordenheim some time ago. No, it has to be someone on foot."

"In that case, when Othos has fallen, I will make my way there. I will go...And I request that Bellus join me."

Derius watched Malum, not expecting a reaction but would observe one if it came. He tapped his head and Schneider patted his before vanishing; summoned back to Taetus.

Malum gave a small smile at Derius's agreement to meet with Noxtoten. His expression turning to curiosity as he Derius made his own request.

"I do not see a reason that would prevent this but do tell me Derius. Why my daughter of all people?"

He made no reaction to Schneider being disappearing although he did note it, the fact that it had the ability to teleport was noted.

"Because your daughter is interesting. I like interesting."

Smoke clouds began to fill the room.

Malum rose from his seat, he gestured to the stone table, the six chairs of the Crimson Knights disappearing as lightning crackled on the surface of the stone table.

A map of Haugun and Athas revealed itself, several key locations marked out along the coastline and one marked with Othos.

"As you, no doubt know there are over a thousand ballistae spread across Athas, most located along the North-West coastline and the around the major cities. Taking them all out would be possible but too costly for us to pursue."

He pointed to the locations on the map, pointing a finger from Haugun and then sweeping it through to Othos.

"If we can punch through key sites, creating a corridor we can transverse through to Othos we can capture the city and end their supply lines. If Othos falls so will Athas."

His head tilted to Derius, his eyes twinkling.

"Between the lightning elementals and the void dwellers we should be able to render the ones along the coast and several miles in obsolete, but the ones by the capital, on the opposite side of the Athas mountain range... what forces can you lend?"

Meeting the gaze of Malum, Derius did not skip a beat.

"I will be leading a diverse force of one thousand of my Iron Guard and my Shades. That would be enough, in addition with your ryujin force, to deal with the ballistae. Of course, Athas will not just be defending with ballistae. We're going to face Athas' own ryujins, not to mention Zalzabar and the Skydragon."

"Bellus has informed me the Skydragon is indisposed at this time, it would appear she overexerted herself recently. It would seem Zalzabar's little troop encountered some great threat."

He looked down at the map, contemplating the rest of Derius's words.

"You are quite right the ballistae are not the only issue, Athas however has very few ryujin, and even less trained, they will be a threat but something I am confident the Crimson Knights will be able to overwhelm. I will not be involved in the invasion, Solis shall be acting commander of the Haugunite forces."

His eyes glinted as he looked to Derius, pausing to see him respond before continuing.

"Ah. There it is. I was waiting for you to tell me what would call King Malum away from the invasion. Or is it another secret?"

In truth, Derius did not care that Malum would not be in attendance; He cared more for why he would not be. Derius looked around the room, as the smoke surrounded his body. "You do not strike me as the type to remain...here during such a momentous occasion."

    Malum chuckled at Derius's statement.

"Indeed I am not. I am in the pursuit of Gelida. It would seem she is hibernating somewhere within the mountains of Mezar. Finding her, as you can imagine, is of the utmost importance. She may be able to tell us the location of the other Eyes if Noxtoten does not know."

A rue smile crossed his face.

"Would you like to meet a being of the Void?"

    Derius' silence was his response.

Malum merely chuckled at the silence, he spoke aloud although not to Derius.

"Arkon, return here if you would"

A moment transpired and the new Crimson Knight entered through the central doorway, appearing before his King.

"What is it you require your majesty?"

Malum made a gesture to Derius, the stone table and the chairs sunk back into the floor. leaving a large open space between them all.

    "Summon a Void Dweller"

Arkon bowed his head, waving with his hands for several moments, a red spot appearing below on the floor in front of him as a creature appeared before their eyes.

Derius would be able to detect a thin, invisible string of magical energy that connected Arkon and the creature. As if it was his puppet, it would indeed appear his Summoning magic operated in a different manner to Cassius. He would also be able to tell that Arkon was indeed a Ryujin, but it felt off somehow, it felt very similar to a Ryujin, in truth Derius would not be able to quite tell what Arkon was., even his race remained a mystery he did not feel like a human.

As for the Void Dweller itself, the aura was like that of Ulfric.

    Nonexistent.

"This is one of the weaker varieties, although one-on-one with an Athas soldier this Void Dweller would likely win."

The Witchking’s face did not change.

He looked at the creature. Then at Arkon.

“What do you think of the void Arkon? Could you survive there?”

Arkon came to view Derius, his faceless helm hiding any reaction to this statement.

"The Void is home to many mysteries, some beyond our current understanding. Could I survive there? If King Malum Dragonson cannot survive there, it would seem doubtful that I could."

Malum's face remained expressionless, merely looking Derius and then back to Arkon, observing the interaction between the two.

“Yet, controlling this creature shows that you have some understanding of the Void. Can you kill it?”

"I suppose it does, but having them here to study in our world helps tremendously. As for killing it..."

He unsheathed his sword and brought it round cleaving for Void Dweller's head, the sword struck through the creature's head falling to the floor. The creature made a brief squawk of pain before it became silent.

"If someone is strong or skilled enough then they can."

    Derius turned to Malum.

“You may come across some Hunters of Southern Taetus as you search for Gelida. They will not disturb you and I request that you do not disturb them. Is there anything else, Malum?”

    "Yes... I am..."

His voice then lowered so only Derius could hear, Arkon would not be able to. It was a test to see how Derius would react to the news. Even though Malum had revealed much, Derius would get the sense that there was still much that was being kept from him.

Derius listened to the words and rolled them over in his mind. His eyes glanced at Arkon before he became completely enveloped by the smoke before the mass flowed out of the nearest window.

Through the brief use of his aura, Malum would receive a response to his words:

    Amusement...

    And Intrigue.

    Delsanra Taenya Helestina
    Five Miles from Othos

After reaching Othos, Delsanra could see what Zalzabar was talking about. There were several stationed at each of these, their eagle eyes watching the skies for any sign of dragons. These people were paranoid. Can't say she couldn't blame them. As they drew near the city, Delsanra saw Taella, who had been quiet, run over to Zalzabar. Several words were spoken, and she looked back at the party, before disappearing back into the woods.

At the city gates, they would be greeted by a tall, handsome man that appeared to be in his late thirties. He was bearded and strong, wearing traditional Atharain Armor, a massive bow was strapped to his back as he was accompanied by a few other soldiers, each carrying tall long spears.

"Lord Zalzabar it has been too long, please you look all so weary."

Did EVERYONE know this man? Delsanra could not decide if that was a good sign, or a bad thing. But they seemed to respect him. Good enough. The two exchanged words, and then Zalzabar told the man... "I have some rather urgent news for King Kenrinth, could you set up my fair companions here with some lodgings and the like." The king? It just more interesting, but Delsanra was starting to feel a bit tired.

The wagons rolled by. Dominus exchanged a military-style salute also. Another few minutes went by before they would stop outside a great building, one that if they had traveled to any of the major cities in Athas they would know was a grand bathhouse. Zalzabar left them, telling them to rest. That sounded good to her.

Esenma and Anaxagore, were brought in stretchers carried by Atharian guards. There were wood elves, dark elves, orcs, dwarves, and even an Aviskin relaxing in the background. One of these people, a dark elf, would come to view the entering party who were being busy told about their rooms. A very interesting mix.

"Greetings honored guests and welcome to the finest Bath House in all of Othos, allow me escort you all to your rooms"

The man gave a look to unconsciousness Esenma and Anaxagore.

"Oh dear, you there boy, why don't you stay with your Lords while we send for the healing mage, you are in luck he is fabled to be the greatest healer ever to have lived!" He was speaking to Creatus. Delsanra gave a slight smile.

Delsanra and Kaynus would be offered keys, this time a separate room for them all, Dominus would lead Rebecca off. Food was also offered. She didnt mind that at all. But she was not too fond of being separated either. As she mused on what to do first, the elf she noticed earlier showed up yet again. This time, she noted the lute. A bard perhaps?

"Hello, all! I am Sven, who is an elf way superior to mere men. Allow me to spin you a tale; it's not for those who are frail. I will play a song, and you're free to sing along. But I must warn you sheep; this tune will put you to sleep."

... "put you to sleep?" .... Delsanra did not like the sound of that at all. There were such things as sing-songs, and spell songs were known. And right now, she was in no mood. She was hungry and while she was tired, she was determined to practice some more of Zalazabar's training before she went to sleep. From what had happened so far, things had been very badly planned, and they had taken much damage. And they had just barely started.

In any case, she was not going to sit and listen to the bard. She looked over towards Kaynus. "You..you did quite well against that creature," she said softly. She then looked over towards the dark elf, before looking back at Kaynus. "I dont wish to hear any bard's yammer. But a good dinner, and something to DRINK sounds quite good to me." she then turned and headed for the area where food had been put of for them. Dominus seemed to know these folks, so she hoped that their rooms would be safe enough. Anyway, she planned to put warnings and guards on her doors and windows just in case. Large cities were dangerous places. With a sigh, she headed for the food. There was just so much to think on. Especially, the words of a certain crimson knight, before she lost her arm... and Delsanra didnt even want to think upon THAT.

OOC: Some things mentioned here were things agreed upon in the past with Taella's creator and wanted to fit them in before the character disappeared from the story. Nothing done without permission. :)

    Cretaus IC:

    ~Bathhouse Greetings and Serendipitous Serenades~

Cretaus gaped as he watched the city of Othos come into view, at its grand walls and gates and the giant ballistae all over the place before it. Anti-Dragon weaponry, who knew?

He had been sitting in the back of the wagon for most of the journey after recovering from the Bellus Incident, mostly talking with Taella and at her behest had her bow across his lap, telling him to meditate. Cretaus had finally taken the courage, utilizing a little bit of confidence from his newfound magic, to ask her about archery training and if he could learn her apparent ability to speak with animals.

She was hesitant, uncertain about the animal speak but stated something along the lines of 'Perhaps in the future,' but she seemed to be more willing to teach the Art of the Bow. This made up for the initial disappointment, though the way she started off was not exactly....what he had imagined. Meditation and learning to 'feel' and 'hear' the bow came first, she instructed sternly. She had rather have found a bow for him, but to begin was content to allow her own for now.

That constituted the ride over until the end, when she allowed him a break so she could retreat into her own elven thoughts and he could watch the approaching city. When they stopped and the elven ranger hopped off to speak with Zalzabar, he was within earshot. He watched the exchange with surprise and then a slight sorrow that he didn't want to openly admit.

As she mouthed a 'Sorry and goodbye...' to them, the blond teen quietly lifted a hand in farewell and tried not to show too much emotion. He wasn't sure how well he succeeded.

Well, archery training didn't go very far either.

With a sigh and now discontent expression on his face, he was more glum and uncaring about the interaction with the man known as Ajax not long later at the gates themselves. After a little exchange between the Commander and Zalzabar, they lurched forward once more on the wagons and into Othos proper.

At least the sights took his mind off things for a bit, his eyes looking about and taking it all in. A city was nothing new for him, even if this was much bigger than the one he had been from, but it was a new city. So that made it fascinating anyway.

As Zalzabar told them to head for the Bathhouse (which did sound nice, he had to admit), he hesitated, wanting to continue with Zalzabar. But the request was firm and everyone else was headed toward there, so he relented. Plus there was no reason for him to be in the presence of a King!

Walking with the guards alongside Esenma and Anaxagore on their stretchers, he spoke nervously. "Just...Just be careful with them, ok?"

Cretaus eyed everyone around, though not really concentrating on taking them in fully, so they passed from his mind as swiftly as they entered it. So much going on at once! Through this, Sven did not yet make himself stand out and evaded the teen's notice.

"Greetings honored guests and welcome to the finest Bath House in all of Othos, allow me escort you all to your rooms."

    He smiled at the Greeter.

"Oh dear, you there boy, why don't you stay with your Lords while we send for the healing mage, you are in luck he is fabled to be the greatest healer ever to have lived!"

Cretaus blinked and an eyebrow rose. "Um..O-Ok?"

A little snigger presented itself and he looked over to see the typical smug smirk of Kaynus nearby, who was side-eying him at the comment,

"Yes. Do follow your Lords, boy. It may as well be a more fitting position for you, I suppose! Ha!"

"Shut up," he mumbled under his breath, though at least the irritating nobleman's comment had the context of the Greeter's words make more sense now. Ugh. He really did look like a nobody, huh? Was a servant a rank up from street urchin though? A strange thought.

    "What was that?"

    "Nothing," he lied.

Unsure of what else to do and not wanting to speak up against the kind host, he shrugged and just walked with the stretchers as suggested, though did not look over toward Kaynus as he did so. No need to see that expression get any more smug.

As they came to a room where his companions were set down and the guards left, a dark skinned gentleman entered and raised a hand in greeting. Surprised at how his gaze immediately fell on him, though perhaps that was because he was the only other not-unconscious person in there, he lifted a hand in greeting back.

"Well, well, Cretaus. I have been waiting a long time to meet you. I do hope your travels were not too strenuous."

He blinked and gaped. "I...uh...They were...I mean, I'm here at least..." A pause and then a flat question. "How do you know me?"

A longer pause and then his eyes widened, his mind thinking on past events, could it be...No, no, that was crazy! Lord Tellus had told him to find him, but the one who was to teach him about his nature did not know of him yet. So no way it was him.

Cretaus' eyes squinted almost comically. Then why did he feel like he already knew this man as well?

    Kaynus Allbright IC:

    ~Othos, Athas~

Riding into the city of Othos, sitting closer to the front and with his arms crossed, he watched the Capital of Athas approach and just barely refrained from scowling at the sight of it. The Atharains were a foolish lot who were proud of a city that was nothing special in his eyes. And these....

    A scowl did show now.

...ballistae. Anti-Ryujin arsenal? What a joke! With a contemptuous look, he utterly disregarded them in his mind. The only such thing that was 'anti-ryujin' was another ryujin! That should be as obvious as it comes. When Haugun reigns supreme over--

He closed his eyes, the sneer being replaced with one of almost pain and more than a little doubt for the shortest of moments, he realized what he had been thinking. That was...not an option for him anymore, was it?

    "Tch."

Kaynus remained tightlipped the rest of the way, barely gracing Taella the slightest of glances as she left. Cowards and weaklings, especially of her kind, deserved no thought upon them. They were, quite honestly, beneath them in every way. And that was that.

When Zalzabar departed from the group, he only nodded once before hopping off the cart and marching toward the Bathhouse. First of the group, naturally. They were greeted immediately, as they should have been. At least that was done properly.

"Greetings honored guests and welcome to the finest Bath House in all of Othos, allow me escort you all to your room."

"Please do," he spoke with an air of importance, "And make it swift. I do not wish to be among this rabble for long."

"Oh dear, you there boy, why don't you stay with your Lords while we send for the healing mage, you are in luck he is fabled to be the greatest healer ever to have lived!"

Kaynus briefly raised an eyebrow to see whom the Greeter was addressing and let out a laugh upon seeing it was none other than Cretaus. Served the gutter trash, for that was obviously what he was, right. Thinking he could join a group of adventurers of their caliber, to stop Sapientis of all people, and let's not forget...was to be in his presence throughout!

    Please.

This should serve as a proper reminder to the kid. Only reason he remembered his name was because of the recent oddity of a situation earlier and Zalzabar's questioning of him. A questioning of his own that was never answered to his great annoyance.

"Yes. Do follow your Lords, boy. It may as well be a more fitting position for you, I suppose! Ha!"

Cretaus muttered something right then, and he eyed him dangerously. Had he just tried to talk back to him? The nerve!

    "What was that?"

    "Nothing."

Kaynus scrunched up his nose as if in disgust. Sure, boy. Sure. But he left right then with Esenma and Anaxa-whatevs, so he'd let the weakling not bother him any further. Recent oddities notwithstanding. He'd get his answer from Zalzabar about what happened on the outskirts later. His foot tapped impatiently on the floor as the others of the group seemed to start heading off elsewhere, while he waited with the one who had summoned the wagon for the Greeter to do as they had said they would do.

He got keys, which he took but with a rather dumbfounded expression.

"You seriously think I'll just go find my own room in a place I've never been before, like some kind of lost peasant? You said you would escort us, you plebe! I demand you show us the way."

Unfortunately, there came another interruption first. His eyes flicked over to the source of the lute strumming. But of course. Another elf. Of the dark skinned variant this time, not that it mattered. They were all the same in his eyes. Mere future servants to his greatness.

"Hello, all! I am Sven, who is an elf way superior to mere men. Allow me to spin you a tale; it's not for those who are frail. I will play a song, and you're free to sing along. But I must warn you sheep; this tune will put you to sleep."

A random street bard dare intrude in such noble quarters? Atharains knew not how to keep the unwashed and unworthy away from the truly powerful, it was confirmed! A backwards country of buffoons!

"You..you did quite well against that creature."

Blinking, but finding this a much preferable statement to focus on, Kaynus turned toward Del...Del...Oh by the three, he'll just refer to her as Del for now. He couldn't be bothered recalling the rest of her name, someone would utter it later anyway.

"But of course, it was only a goblin in the end. My exceeding superiority against it was only a natural conclusion," a pause as he regarded the woman, "You did...not bad yourself. To be expected from a fellow ryujin."

Yes, yes. Couldn't allow her head to get too big after all, but after such a fight...and she hadn't been utterly useless, light praise was in order. Not that he cared, but for some reason it allowed some of the servants back home some measure of happiness or something. Of course, such people beneath him did not usually earn such praise, but sometimes...once in a while...maybe just once.

In any event! It was earned. This time. And to be fair, all were beneath him.

"I don't wish to hear any bard's yammer. But a good dinner, and something to DRINK sounds quite good to me."

"On that, we can agree," the Heir to the Three replied flatly before throwing a nasty look back toward the singing dark elf. Sv...Sv..Swen...No...Swi....Swine? Yes, his name was Swine, right? Ha! That totally fit!

With a disapproving look toward their 'host' who seemed so out-of-it now for some reason, he followed Del toward where the food was being served. As an elf, he'd trust her nose.

And hopefully someone would soon shut up that Swine behind them.

The man looked over Cretaus with a kind gaze, lowering his hand. Anaxagore and Esenma still lay silent and unconscious, although it became apparent that Anaxagore was undergoing some sort of bad dream.

He blinked and gaped. "I...uh...They were...I mean, I'm here at least..." A pause and then a flat question. "How do you know me?"

The man gave a smile, recognizing the look in the boy's eyes all too well.

"Well Cretaus, I know you the same way you know me. I am Tempus Aeterna."

The man looked at Cretaus and then strode over to Anaxagore.

"I'm sure you're quite confused, don't worry I'll explain everything soon enough. But first a little lesson in healing."

He placed his fingers above Anaxagore's brow, they rested gently there as he continued to speak.

"You see many natures are able to heal, water, fire, healing, tree-singing but I have found those have to jump through quite a few hoops in order to mend something, yes even 'healing'. I find that time heals all wounds"

A soft smile on his face as Anaxagore's body began to seemingly shift, it was the same sensation Cretaus had felt back in the plains of Athas. The boy could feel the man's aura, it felt so close, controlled and so familiar to himself.

"Hello...?" spoke Anaxagore, who feel his body at full strength, as if he had rested for several days.

Tempus then wandered over to Esenma performing the same magic as she too would feel herself come awake, albeit a little groggy compared to Anaxagore.

"Now of course I recognize the fair Lady Esenma, I hope you are doing quite alright. But you good sir, what might your name be?"

He turned to Anaxagore. There was a kindness in the man's eyes, a subtle grace to them.

"Well, all I can is offer my condolences, and let you know how much I appreciate your honesty."

Zalzabar gave no response as the soft rhythm of electrical pulses escaped his fingertips as his hand rested on Arc's head.

Arc would then feel himself in a blank void. It was cold, impossibly cold. He would feel his robes stricken away from him, his hooded face laid bare as an image of an ice queen formed itself in front of him.

"What is it that you fear Arc? What terrifies you?"
There was a shift as he felt his body contort in unnatural and impossible ways, the image of his dragon self appearing in front of him as he was consumed by the beast. Then the scene would then dramatically shift once more as Arc would bear witness to his deepest fears, whatever they happened to be. It would remain to see how the negation mage would fair against himself.

Dominus scowled in frustration upon Rebecca's declaration that she 'didn't need to be coddled'

"I'm well aware" he snapped back before his head turned to Ne'tar. The Snow Elf always had trouble understanding Orcs but as he saw Ne'tar began to walk in the opposite direction to where the Elf was indicating to him, coupled with Rebecca's stubbornness, it made him want to transform into his dragon form and just fly away.

"NE'TAR! By... the... Three, get over here. You can do all that fun stuff after you heal Rebecca up." It would become quite clear the Dominus was not in a particularly good mood, the soft sound of music could be heard in the distance, that of Sven with Kaynus and Delsanra, not that the music would affect them at this distance.

"And why do you have Bellus's arm? Do NOT tell me you are going to eat that too?"

Dominus then turned to view Rebecca, he was not a healer, he had some basic medical training from his time in the Athas military but nothing major, nothing that would help here. For that could heal wounds that would kill most ryujin in a matter of moments the irony was not lost on him, one that got underskin.

    IC: Ajax

As Sven, or 'Swine' as Kaynus called him, played his music those around in the central lobby area began to drift asleep. Kaynus and Delsanra would remain unaffected by the music. It would seem the two were rather unimpressed with the dark elf's theatrics, after all, they had just faced against the Son of Sapientis, an Elder Ryujin that had raised an army of undead, earth zombies. Sven was likely not exactly a threat in their minds.

Sven would begin to notice his four agents move throughout the Bathhouse, they did look a bit confused, was he really going to moo?

There was one other person that had not fallen asleep, the burly bearded man named 'Ajax'. Slowly the commander turned around, seemingly quite unimpressed with the music coming from Sven.

"So, I take it you're the leader of this so-called 'Guild of Sparrows'?"

There was a pregnant pause as the tall, Atharian warrior looked Sven right in the eye, but before the dark elf would be able to respond.

    "MEN!"

A series of guards then proceeded to come in from outside the entrance that had been waiting outside, an inhibitor orb in the hand of one of them that was clasped in his hand, its negation magic pulsating outwards. Delsanra and Kaynus would also feel the effects of the orb, although it was not strong as it had been outside Zalzabar's castle when Audacia had used it to suppress their Ryujin forms.

"I do apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm afraid its the only surefire way to detain such magically gifted criminals"

There were six guards in total, four of whom came to take care of those that had fallen asleep, the last two were making their way to Sven to arrest him, it would remain to be seen if the suddenly magicless dark elf had any other tricks up his sleeves. Ajax then awakened the owner of the Bathhouse who then looked slightly bewildered and looked toward Kaynus and Delsanra.

"I presume you would like dinner now? If you would just follow me."

    IC: Arc
    Dream World of Doom

It was as Zalzabar had guessed, maddeningly.

Arc fell into both memory and dream and nightmare and truth.

He remembered all those he had loved and lost; befriended and seen die; trusted and watched lie.

It was like a drumbeat of death and pain.

Invi, Luxu, Ava, Gula, Aced, Ira -

    Joren, Zas'tel, Vale, Vydra -

    Sheel Ix, Sek'nos, Jin, Lagertha,
    Uatu -
    Sarathai, Nyubis, Xenos -

    The Patriarch, Jam, Moriarty -

    Roan, Tarsus, Vy'ndall, Tarkin, Aurrenna

    Feyna, Qi'ra, Aryan, Pascale, Ka'rta -

    Arb, Ike -

    Himself.

    Him.

    I.
He had done all these things, all of these monstrous, callous, brutal acts...

... manipulations beyond any acceptable margin of sin...

    He was his greatest fear.

That he had done it all for nothing.

That he had became nothing more than his own nightmare.

    That he had became Darkness.

As Arc basked in this menacing void he would feel a small voice whisper into his ear. No, it was a mixture of voices. Ones of those that had challenged him in various ways, in past lives, in different times. A thread connected by them all yet unseen, the thread being that of Arc.

The image of a masked man appeared before him. His sky blue eyes piercing into the emptiness that was Arc, or so he now called himself. He spoke a resonant, familiar sound but morphed with others as if they were all playing over each other in harmony.

"Is that why you hide within the Darkness Wapoe? The hood protecting you from reality? You could always never handle the truth"

The masked man in green shifted as his face molded into a grey-skinned man, like that of the snow elves but with two long ears protruding from his head, only the soft blues eyes remained, never removing their gaze from the man.

"Well is that all Samhain? Is that all you are? A monster that lies to the extreme that they even forget themselves?"

The face shifted once more, the blue eyes remaining the only constant as the face of Zalzabar now came into view, the stern gaze remaining cast toward the hooded man.

"Or are you more Arc? Who are you really? What is the core of your being?"

Arc didn't like how much Zalzabar was seeing.

    But, he had risked it.

    The blue eyes.

    He'd had blue eyes, once.

    Or had he?

He had leapt worlds so many times...

Arc resisted, but his fear was being stoked.

With a hiss, he pressed on. "Loss, Zalzabar. I lost everything to the Darkness. Not your every day garden variety, no - the First Evil; the Origin of Despair; the Father of Shadows. Everything was lost - my friends, my loved ones."

His face was wet - tears dripped out of the hood down his coat.

The face that was seemingly Zalzabar then faded away. The cacophony of many voices remained the same although now disembodied.

"But is it not your betrayal that leads to this sadness? Why the trickery? If it causes all this grief as you recognize then why continue? Strip away your mystery and deceit and what remains?"

The paradoxical nature of Arc was laid bare, the interlocking pieces that made him up of this world and yet not. A mere manifestation constrained to the rules of a new world. Then in front of Arc's eyes scenes would play of his past, each a horrific act that he had committed in some past time. Each more unspeakable than the last.

Arc dropped to his knees. “What I have lost, it is far worse than is believed - I have always sought to bring everyone I have taken back, built protections and safety nets - but nobody trusts me, and nobody listens, and they lose themselves to their paranoia and fear.”

He sags. “I can save everyone, even those who are gone, from the Dark. We can’t afford to be sentimental - sacrifices have to be made to ultimately create a world with no conflict, with no sin…”

“And I won’t live in it, because how can I?”

There was a chuckle, warm and friendly. A voice protruding from the void, foreign from the others, not a manifestation of Arc's mind.

"A world born of blood is no world at all"

There was a shift as there was a quiet stillness as the voice spoke again.

"A world of no conflict, no sin, such a utopia cannot be without chaining the very being of mortals, for conflict and sin are byproducts of free will. What you dismiss as sentimentality others would call morality."

There was a dramatic shift as Arc was pulled out of the dream world now face to face with Zalzabar who he now recognized as the voice that just spoke his eyes glinting.

"Well Arc I'm pretty sure you just failed"

Arc grabbed Zalzabar with his hands, holding his collar. “There are component elements to the worlds, all worlds are born from the same things. I don’t want a world without free will; I just want a world without those elements puppeting us all.” He released Zalzabar, not quite pushing him away. “I want to help you destroy what controls your worlds fate; the monsters that seek to recreate themselves and dominate this land.”

He did point at finger at Zalzabar. “That should be enough for you. Or do you need my free will as part of the training?”

Zalzabar looked Arc squarely his demeanor cold, his eyes hardened. He was surprised that he did not just electrocute Arc then and there.

"Firstly, touch me like that again, and you'll regret it. Secondly, what the hell are you talking about? Elements puppeting us? What you said Arc, what it appears to be, are talking points of the agents of Sapientis. Nothing controls my world's fate except peoples own decisions and actions. This is a struggle of us against Sapientis, the grand nemesis of life and here you are busy caught up in some far off quest of destroying fate"

Zalzabar gave a sigh, lightning crackling briefly around him and then stopping instantly as he measured himself once more.

"We are free to make our own choices Arc, seize our own fate, continue in the neverending struggle of good and evil. What do you choose Arc? Why be afraid of becoming the darkness when you can choose not to be?"

He shut his jaw, and then slumped, just hanging in Zalzabar’s grip. “Sapientis is the great threat I want to stop. But I want to make sure it never comes back, that it’s never replaced with another evil, eh at its not just one footnote in an endless war. When you win, I want you to win for good - for everyone.”

His gaze looked back at Zalzabar.

    “Forever.”

Zalzabar released Arc, looking down at him. The hardness in his eyes still very real.

"Sapientis is no footnote" he gave a sigh, running his hand through his hair. He collected himself his eyes softening slightly as he looked to Arc.

"I do apologize for running so deep into your memories, you have lived quite the life. Although here you have no need for trickery. Well not against us anyway. Alright very well Arc you passed the Trial of Courage, you saw the fear that creeps into your mind and you rose to meet it."

Zalzabar paused, there was still concern, something to be noted. The temptations of Sapientis were a very real possibility.

"Okay Arc, fancy meeting a King?"

Arc hesitated. Well, he hasn’t had me killed again. He brushed himself down and bowed. “Of course, Lord Zalzabar. Whatever you command, as part of your teaching.”

"You..you did quite well against that creature." Delsanra had spoke to Kaynus. Or course, she expected him to respond in Kaynus form. And she was not found wanting.

Blinking, Kaynus turned towards her. "But of course, it was only a goblin in the end. My exceeding superiority against it was only a natural conclusion," Seems that he had already forgotten that he had been knocked unconscious. There was a slight pause, before he responded. "You did...not bad yourself. To be expected from a fellow ryujin."

Oh, she bet that had to hurt. But she did not tease him. Instaead, she turned her attention, towards something useful to both of them. A good meal.

"I don't wish to hear any bard's yammer. But a good dinner, and something to DRINK sounds quite good to me."

"On that, we can agree," Kaynus replied. With a disapproving look toward their 'host' who seemed so out-of-it now for some reason, he followed Del toward where the food was being served.

Delsanra turned to head away from the room, when she noticed others began to fall asleep. except for one. One very large man, who turned to look at the bard.

Delsanra kept from wrinkling her nose. She was beginning to hate those orbs.

Something to note. These people seemed well prepared. There had to be some interesting history. The large man spoke then, as six other guards rounded up the other people.

"I do apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm afraid its the only surefire way to detain such magically gifted criminals." The guard explained. Delsanra nodded but stayed silent. This little 'meeting seemed very off. And after what they have seen, she would take nothing for granted.

The awakened the owner of the Bathhouse who then looked slightly bewildered and looked toward Kaynus and Delsanra.

"I presume you would like dinner now? If you would just follow me."

Delsanra nodded her head, giving the slightest of smiles. "Indeed, sir. Lead the way." But she kept her eye on what was going on until they cleared the room. Could they not simply reach a spot without some theatrics? Then again, Zalzabar was a well known figure in the area. So perhaps this was normal for them. But like Ne'tar had stated earlier, simply staying too long within a town or city invited the possibility of being attacked. Even in this seemingly well-guarded place.

Delsanra sighed possibly as she followed the Owner. Some good food and a bath would do wonders. And sleep. A good sleep. But right now, she would settle for some good food.

Sven looked around at the guards and smirked; they had no idea that Sven had an ace up his hole. So the Dark elf nonchalantly answered them.

"Yes, I am the elusive leader of the sparrows. Bow before my greatness."

However, before Sven could once again play his lute, he would feel dizzy and week. The orb made him feel frizzy and meek; Sven would almost fall but not be he unleashed his call.

    "MOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

That was the signal; it was as loud as a crashing cymbal. Sven's followers were no doubt confused, and the guards might've been amused. But this was Sven's plan, his ploy, when the chips were down a desperate plan, he was going to employ.

Kaynus stopped and watched with a confused expression as Ajax spoke up and the Atharain guards sprang into action. His brow furrowed as he watched the whole scene unfold before him, his body turning all the way to watch.

    "What nonsense...?"

And then the bard, whom he was now pleased to see being the one going to be removed, did something he could just now not fathom in any way.

    The elf...mooed.

"What on Regnum!? Get rid of that fool!"

Who in their right mind, would moo like a based idiot?

The two guards that were approaching Sven looked to each other confused as he exclaimed his 'war cry'. The one of the sparrows seeing the six well armored and professional guards froze and simply exited quietly out of the bathhouse. Two more tried to make their way to Ajax attempting to grab the strong warrior from behind. The moment they touched him he leaned forward grabbing both men's arms as he flipped them both over to the warm stone floor. The remaining one however slammed directly into two guards that were attempting to arrest Sven, managing to grab the inhibitor orb and slamming it into the ground.

The sudden rush of magic came back to them all as Sven could feel his magic return to him. With the situation disrupted it would remain to be seen what Sven's next actions would be. The exit ways were noticeably blocked off and Ajax had knocked out the other two sparrows, the remaining one wrestling with one of Atharian guards as another took a swipe to grab Sven.

The host nervously stepped back pointing a finger at Sven and looking to Delsanra awkwardly was if silently asking if she could do something.

    "AHA!"

Sven cheered as he became free as one can be.

"Now it's time to be absolutely positively sublime."

Sven felt the magic coarse throughout his body again; it was nice to be back in power; of course, now the dark elf had to show force.

Sven pulled out his flute, not intending to pick up his dropped lute.

Then Sven winked at Ajax as it was now time for some payback! Sven played a tune that, of course, the heroes of Zalzabar would be immune.

A melody that Sven knew would be added on to his felony. A special treatment to people like Ajax who were nothing more than cogs, so now this tune would have them bark like dogs!

Sven heard Kaynus's insult, so the dark elf winked as he displayed his magical result. But something peculiar caught Sven's eye, and by the by, Sven noticed that Zalzabar wasn't anywhere nearby!

A thought occurred, and Sven wondered what would be of his plight; he wanted to get paid tonight!

    "So uh where's Zalzabar?"

As things evolved, with new people coming to assist the bard of all things, Kaynus could only glare at the cacophony taking place. His eyes shot toward the host.

"What kind of hospitality is this?"

At least the sight of the guards knocking the Sparrows silly was entertaining to a mild degree. Even if the inhibitor orb did produce a rather pointed expression on his part. But then they all muffed it up in the end and the bard was loose and back to spell slinging with a flute of all things!

How terribly common of the elf.

His hand itched down toward his sword before it froze on the hilt. Kaynus' eyes darted to it with a look of consternation before releasing the grip that never was. Glaring at Swine with a look of disgust, he mustered up all his distaste in his reply to the dark elf's question.

"And why would we bother to tell a street thug such as yourself, that?"

A little glance toward his companion made him debate on asking for her assistance, but the idea was quickly shot down in his mind.

"The fact that you would cause such a scene in front of me is deplorable, cur. Stand down immediately and maybe these guards will not kill you where you stand."

Sven tilted his head and laughed, "Deplorable? I'm a bard, not an encyclopedia; I don't even know what that word means."

Sven placed his flute in its and picked up the lute. "All I do is choose words and make them rhyme, creating a tune and product that is just sublime."

Sven strummed on his lute a little bit more before he looked down at the Sparrow members who got choke slammed and helped them to their feet.

"I mean no harm, but a word of advice, you have a bad case of halitosis, I can smell it from here."

Sven played a string riff on his Lute and yelled, "Heyo!" Afterward, Sven laughed and high-fived a Sparrow member who was holding their back.

"But tell me, if you do tell me you will be handsomely rewarded, and the services of the Sparrows would also be awarded."

Sven did a twirl and posed so elegantly that he could've been mistaken for a barbie girl.

"So what do you say? Help me, and we will become allies today!"

As Delsanra had started thinking of a good meal, and following the owner, as the ruckas behind them excelled, she heard a strange sound...

    "MOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

The sound stopped Kaynus in his trackss.

"What on Regnum!? Get rid of that fool!" was Kaynus response to the dark elf's strange sound.

Shear pandimodium broke lose then, as several men wrastled with the guards, while another managed to slam the hated inhibitor orb to the ground. Which surprisngly was enough to break its hold over the magic. A rush of magic was felt immediately.

"AHA!" the dark elf exclaimed as the new people began wrestling with the guards.

The host nervously stepped back pointing a finger at Sven and looking to Delsanra awkwardly was if silently asking if she could do something. She looked him over quizically. This place had no guards of its known? Kaynus again added more words of wisdoom..

"What kind of hospitality is this?"

It was hard not to roll her eyes. But she managed.

The dark elf then pulled out a flute, as he babbled some nonscence. Delsanra frowned. And then the dark elf asked something she did not expect.

    "So uh where's Zalzabar?"

"And why would we bother to tell a street thug such as yourself, that?"

    Kaynus replied.

Delsanra's eyebrow shot skyward. Was this all for a recruitment show? Kaynus continued his spearch towards the bard.

"The fact that you would cause such a scene in front of me is deplorable, cur. Stand down immediately and maybe these guards will not kill you where you stand."

The bards reply was quick. Sven tilted his head and laughed, "Deplorable? I'm a bard, not an encyclopedia; I don't even know what that word means."

"All I do is choose words and make them rhyme, creating a tune and product that is just sublime."

Sven strummed on his lute a little bit more before he looked down at the Sparrow members who got choke slammed and helped them to their feet.

"I mean no harm, but a word of advice, you have a bad case of halitosis, I can smell it from here." He then smacked hands with one of his men.

"But tell me, if you do tell me you will be handsomely rewarded, and the services of the Sparrows would also be awarded." He then twirled about in a way that even Delsanra found a bit ... disturbing. And then he struck a pose. Delsanra coughtly politely as she moved forward a bit.

"So what do you say? Help me, and we will become allies today!"

Delsanra gave the slightest of smirks, and then responded with a rhyme of her own.

"A bard of your talents, please dont be appalled,
for my rhyming talents, my skills are quite small
But the one that you look for, indeed is not here,
For he had other business, and bid us wait here.
But now your disturning both my food and my bed,
and if you continue, .. well its best left unsaid."

Delsanra stated her comment as she held a steady look at the man. She was hungry and annoyed, and she did not want to devote any more of this nonsense. And any issues between this idiot and the guards, she wanted no part of either.

With that she turned and looked at the owner of their host. "If you would, please. I would enjoy a good meal." She then looked back at the bard.

"And perhaps next time, before you make an entrance, be sure that the one you are performing for is around."

The guards around Sven had fallen, their armor clattering against the ground as his spell to effect. Ajax however was another story, the tall, burly bearded man staggered as he resisted the effects of Sven's magic.

With a smile that seemed to require more effort than it was worth he looked to Delsanra before turning to Sven.

"A most beautiful rhyme my lady...now Sven there is a reason they call me the Bear of Athas and you are about to learn why!"

The immense six-foot five-inch tall man sped to the dark elf, his great arms coming up to give him a hug, catching him off guard at how surprisingly fast the man was. Both he and Delsanra would be able to sense there was no magic coming off the man, these feats were of pure human muscle and will.

He would then squeeze, tightening the man in his grasp, his lute would have fallen to the floor as Ajax had grasped him.

"Now please do go and enjoy your meal and bed, I'll take care of this ruffian," he said with focused might his bulging arms making Sven's slim elven frame look tiny in comparison.

The host who had gone to plug their ears having grown out of fear of the music being played the first time looked to Delsanra and Kaynus giving a gesture to them both that would lead them to a small dining area filled with food. Cheese, cured meats, wine, ale, grapes, olives, all the best food Othos had to offer.

Sven was also impressed by the lady's rhymes though it was nowhere near the skill of the Bard's chimes. However, before Sven could react, Commander Ajax would ensure that another plan would be impossible to enact.

Commander Ajax was fast; his strength, speed, and size were vast. Ajax had gripped Sven; the pressure was tight; it ensured that Sven would put up no fight.

"Unhand me, you fiend! This sight is most obscene! I sven will not be apprehended my tunes have yet to be properly commended."

    Sven shouted as he pouted.

So this Swine or...Sven...or whatever his name was, claimed to know no big words and then proceed to belt out something called halitosis and otherwise do his best with rhymes. Bards were always such liars and never to be trusted, that pretty much settled that. But it was a fact that he had thought that already, so that was that.

Del then replied with rhymes of her own, which sounded much better to his ears, not that he'd ever say that out loud. With a nervous clearing of his throat, he watched as Ajax went on to capture the fool by himself without any need for further aid.

With a nod and a curt, "Good," he turned and headed for the dining area at the host's lead. A host who still received a dirty look for allowing all this tomfoolery in his opinion.

"Nearly spoiled my appetite," he muttered under his breath.

    Impressive!!

The word that came to mind when she saw what had to be the Captain of the guards. The huge man. The so called Bear of Athas quickly went to work on the one who called himself Sven. Even as he wrestled the bard down, he responded to her.

"Now please do go and enjoy your meal and bed, I'll take care of this ruffian," he said with focused might his bulging arms making Sven's slim elven frame look tiny in comparison.

With a nod, Delsanra turned away. She heard Kaynus grumble as he gave the host a nod and a curt, "Good," he turned and headed for the dining area at the host's lead. A host who still received a dirty look for allowing all this tomfoolery in his opinion.

"Nearly spoiled my appetite," he muttered under his breath.

The host who had gone to plug their ears having grown out of fear of the music looked to Delsanra and Kaynus giving a gesture to them both that would lead them to a small dining area filled with food. Cheese, cured meats, wine, ale, grapes, olives, all the best food Othos had to offer.

This looked quite heavenly, compaired to her last meal. And with a nod, she walked over towards the table. "Do you have any juices?" she asked as he lead them to the table, and Delsanra gracefully took of her cape, and laid it on her chair. She then proceeded to pick up a platter, in order to serve herself. All she wanted to do was to get some food, a hot bath, and perhaps some sleep. But even as she moved about, she wondered about the one called Sven. What were his true intentions? Why did he want Zalzabar? Had he seen one of those fliers too?

Delsanra quickly took a seat. Most of the group was unconscious. Creatus was watching over the others. She would bring him some food perhaps. Zalzabar had gone off with Dominus. Which left..

    Kaynus.

But to give him credit, he had managed to keep most of his annoyang nuances to himself. And right now, she was not going to let anything spoil her want of a good meal. But she would use this extra down time to study. The Crimson's knights words have echoed in her mind. That they had been so easy to track. There would be much more studying that needed to be done. Hopefully, they would get a chance to do so. But Delsanra wished they could travel a bit more discretely.

But that was a thought for later. And she had learned something intereting about the orbs.

Delsanra chuckled softly to herself as she sat down to enjoy her meal.

(Combo post between @Shadowsun @Mitth_Fisto and myself)

    IC: Ne'tar, Dominus, & Rebecca

Ne'tar no make far before Ne'tar hear Ne'tar name call out, loudly. Ne'tar heavy breath through tusks in huff, "Fine, Ne'tar no think Bloody want Ne'tar again." Ne'tar say in defense.

Ne'tar look down at game bag after second question. "NO!" Ne'tar say aghast! "Maybe." Ne'tar shrug on second thought of Cretus no react when offered before. "Ne'tar prep for next leg journey, offer to Cretus. Jerky and Ne'tar want make something with bone. Ne'tar not sure whether make cane or little club. Maybe Ne'tar pay, sure others make good bone works." Ne'tar shrug at new thought.

Rubbing head Ne'tar sigh, "Ne'tar need clean water and Bloody need bath. Dominus need as well? Put both in one and Ne'tar be done sooner." Ne'tar state looking him over for wounds. Hard tell that one.

Gritting her teeth Rebecca began the slow laborious process of stripping off her armor. It was always a hassle but with her injuries and the dented state of her armor made it exponentially more difficult. A growl left her throat as she just managed to take off one paludron and armored sleeve. Dried blood left streaks on her arm showing the hurt hidden by her armor. Her jaw tensed as she used the limp arm to try and remove the other arm. The pain was immense but her stubbornness was more than enough to overcome it. That was until she tried to undo the buckle that held the armor together.

Her fingers shook and whatever grip she could gain was quickly lost as soon as she squeezed. A sharp grunt left her as her arm fell to her side. Frustration overtook her and she just gnawed at the belt with her teeth but once again unable to gain any purchase...It might take a bit for her to be ready for a bath.

Dominus gave a glare to the half-orc. He was not sure if he was joking or not? Was he really that unaware? Dominus then reasoned that he had never been to Xan so he did not know particularly the customs of their people but still...

"No, I'll take a bath later, by myself. Luckily I don't need to be healed, but I... appreciate the thought" He tried not to sound too curt, Zalzabar had always told him he was rather stern. He quickly turned his head to the frustrated Rebecca who was struggling with a buckle.

"Don't complain" spoke the snow elf, as he went in to unbuckle Rebecca. His hands acting swiftly as it came loose his eyes turning to Ne'tar.

"There should be..." he moved to another door within the room opening it to reveal a small bath area that was filled with water. It was sunken into the ground and square, it could properly comfortably support two, maybe three people.

"You need water to heal right? Well there you go that should work"

Ne'tar scratch at Ne'tar chin at Dominusisusisis comment. Still he show the bath in this place they go to. Ne'tar grunt nod accept the situation. "Keep help, get her down nothing or least layer. Put in water and add bucket of sooth salts. Keep water warm. No hot! Warm."

Ne'tar no care skin of these two, this was Ne'tar as healer. Naked no more bothersome than giant lizard in pen with bent leg. With a distracted wave Ne'tar found corner to set his own things. Ne'tar no see bath like this, Ne'tar no stay in posh place like this either. Most life Ne'tar take dust bathing. One form of basic earth casting Ne'tar no help learn, but Ne'tar learn cup of water bathing and hot spring bathing. Part of life, and simple heal even those no power use sooth salt be. Posh called sooth salts something else, epsuumium or some such.

Getting own outer clothes off Ne'tar soon stand in just undergarment. Ne'tar enjoy warm water as Ne'tar step in, wiggle toes as Ne'tar start chant. Body sway and first seem nothing, but soon all bath seem sway with Ne'tar. Once Ne'tar have feel Ne'tar wave Domi over, "Keep her no drown." Ne'tar simply say. This no jug of water Ne'tar work, if Ne'tar no so tired Ne'tar would chuckle at joy of such thing.

She couldn't hide the snarl on her lip as Dominus undid the buckle of her arm and letting it fall to the ground. Getting help was not something she relished or wanted. It was necessary, but she didn't have to like it. Like a wounded animal cagy around someone just trying to help she still moved away from the snow elf and tearing away at the rest of her armor. That that was still a challenge pain radiating through her but she wouldn't let that stop her. Metal creaked and groaned as she tore at the armor, nearly bending it back into shape, or enough into shape to get the breast plate off. Thankfully that was the hardest part sitting down she took off the rest of the metal plates. Her dark trousers were darkened in places, teeth marks punching through them.

Letting out a growl she took off her arming doublet, slowly and face grimacing in anguish. Her scars were on display, along with fresh cuts, and deep dark bruises all across her chest. you could try and count them but you'd lose count. Losing her torn pants more bruises, more cuts. She didn't try to protect her modesty, Ne'tar likely didn't go for humans, and Dominus well...she just didn't seem to mind him, even if he was fussing over her like a mother hen.

She stood at her full imposing height still keeping her heavily injured arm close. That confidence was starting to come back ever so slightly now that she no longer needed assistance.

"You know Master Dominus, " She whispered walking up to him as he held the door. "You should buy a girl dinner before getting her out of her clothes..." A pained smile bloomed across her face as she slipped into the warm waters of the bath.

Dominus remained silent as he looked Ne'tar somewhat confused. Keep her no drown? He then recalled how...'rough' Ne'tar's healing process could be from a few days ago. His hardened eyes looked to Rebecca as she approached, battle wounds marked all over her skin, a stark contrast to the smooth, shirtless Dominus who remained unmarred even if he wanted to.

"Yes, well a lady as dignified as yourself should be clean before thinking about dinner," he said with a straight face.

He wandered over to behind Rebecca kneeling in anticipation of the waterboarding experience she was about to undergo. He did eye the warm waters, he did enjoy his baths, but he wasn't about to slip into one with a Ne'tar and Rebecca.

"Well alright then Ne'tar best get this over with"

Ne'tar find no joy in Rebecca the Bloody's quips, nor Ne'tar find it in the idle talk of Dominus. Ne'tar too tired for all their nonsense. She was in water, he was out saying ready, and Ne'tar was swaying to a mumbling chant as the water followed Ne'tar guide.

Soon Ne'tar began roll and sway as half lidded Ne'tar eyes looked from wound to wound. The warm would lap against her body, but instead of flow away it pause, and seem stretch thin as water pushed into her water. Higher and higher as sway and lap of water went, higher and higher up Bloody until it come hair and over head. Ne'tar do best stop it over eyes and around nose and mouth. Now with every sway the thin layer thickened as Ne'tar came to sit in tub to keep Ne'tar hands in water. Water press and fill, wiggle in every wound a warm pressure and swirling. All be cleaned, all filth down bottom tub, Ne'tar know Ne'tar do. Then water bond her water, her inner flow become outer pulse as Ne'tar feel the two touch and one ease into the other.

Ne'tar chant go mumble to silence as Ne'tar open eyes fully, Ne'tar look at her as water between connected and as Ne'tar could. Then came the snarling chant, the loud chant, the harsh force of mending as every wound glow, as Ne'tar use Ne'tar vitality and strength guide healing pulse in wounds. Push and draw all wounds together, every word a draw, every silence a relax. Again and again and again until Ne'tar heal no more. Ne'tar silence and nod, then water fall away sink in bath. Ne'tar no aware no more.

"I thank you for considering my dignity." She said slipping into the bath feeling the water soak into her wounds. "I wouldn't be able show my face at all the fancy parties if I was found in such a..." A growl rumbled up from her chest at the pain increased. "...State." The warrior grew quiet as the healing began. It was still warm, but the lap of water into her cuts and bruises still stung. Her blood wasn't burning, still at a steady heat much like the water that surrounded her. It would almost be calming surrounded by water her wounds healing and body recovering.

When it was all done she felt relaxed and tired but, Ne'tar seemed a little out of it too. Rebecca got out finding a towel and wrapping it around her frame. Hooking her arms under the Half-Orc Healer she heaved him out of the bath laying him out next to the water and patting him down with another towel.

"You think you can get him to bed? Least we can do for Baldy." She asked Dominus the snark lessening a little now that it was just them. Standing up she was still a little unsteady on her feet. In the room there was a fresh set of clothes, whether magically created or her old clothes just magically cleaned and returned she wasn't sure. She would still have to get her armor fixed by that would be sorted in the morning. Flopping down on the bed it creaked and groaned under her weight as she settled in for the night.

Dominus came to view the healing process watching it all unfold before him. He had never acknowledged it out loud but he had always been envious of the ability to heal others. He could rebuild his battered form over and over again but not help others.

The Snow Elf cast a glance at Rebecca as she requested to carry the half-orc off to bed. Her tone was unexpected, he had felt himself somewhat tense around her but since that time in the plains of Athas, where he had viewed the scared Becca and not the Laughing Butcher, he began to sympathize with her plight.

He found himself staring off a little too long in the distance as he then registered Rebecca's request scooping the half-orc in his arms in one single bound.

    "Yes... of course...sleep...sleep well"

After exiting room he came to find Ne'tars own quarters placing him delicately on the bed.

    Anaxagore, Cretaus & Esenma
    Bathhouse guest room

Anaxagore was in the cusp of waking, even as strange sensations his mind could not readily identify washed over his unconscious form.

Images of the battle against King Ziki flashed within his mind, then Bellus Dragonson had appeared, she’d seemingly had come to mock them and give them an ultimatum, only to be driven away by…..Cretaus?? No, that couldn’t be right. Before he could focus on that, another image came to mind, this one of a large shadowy figure wreathed in eternal fire- fire that revealed this figure to be….

Anaxagore felt the shock of revelation lance through his consciousness, almost as if physically hit by a bolt of lightning!

    ’IGNIS!!!’ His mind screamed!

Immediately, steel grey eyes opened. Anaxagore was greeted by someone he did not recognize, a dark skinned human male from the looks of him, with a kind and gentle expression on his face. Even as he spoke now, Anaxagore became instantly aware that his body was fully healed. In fact, he would not be able to recall a time, he felt more rested, or stronger.

    “Hello…?”

The Ryujin protector would say tentatively, as he slowly rose up, looking about. Slowly and carefully, Anaxagore began to remove what few strips were left of his completely ruined armor. The man he assumed was a healer had moved away, revealing Cretaus.

“Cretaus….” Anaxagore intoned with a great measure of relief as he smiled. Up until now he had not known the boy’s fate…that is until a strange memory replayed itself in his mind.

“Cretaus?” he said again, tilting his head at the boy.

The sounds of someone else awakening caused the dark-haired protector to shift his focus and his gaze, just in time to see Lady Esenma coming to. This pleased Anaxagore greatly to see the Legendary Ryujin healed. She had been glorious to behold, but Anaxagore was not entirely certain how she was felled. She was just as majestic and eccentric as Lord Zalzabar, and it was an incredible honor just to be in her presence.

“My Lady….” Anaxagore offered with a respectful bow of his head.

It seemed the healer was satisfied with the results of his handiwork as he began to speak.

"Now of course I recognize the fair Lady Esenma, I hope you are doing quite alright. But you good sir, what might your name be?"

The healer turned to Anaxagore. There was a kindness in the man's eyes, a subtle grace to them.

“I am Anaxagore the Adamant, Protector of Regnum, I hail from Zafir.” A respectful nod is offered.

“…and you healer, to whom do I owe my deepest gratitude for such - miraculous work?”

Anaxagore looked down at his body. There was no evidence or mark which remained of his titanic battle against King Ziki. This was the most advance healing treatment he had ever received. Not only that, he was very aware that it had happened in the shortest possible amount of time, with no evidence of herbs, salves or oils being applied to him whatsoever.

This, he suspected, was likely the King’s personal cleric. Impressive did not even begin to cover his amazement. Lord Zalzabar’s influence was indeed far reaching.

The moment he had been given the name, it was like a little shock went through his body and he found himself standing straighter instinctively. This was a man whom a Dragon God themselves had told him to come find.

    Tempus Aeterna.

"I'm sure you're quite confused, don't worry I'll explain everything soon enough. But first a little lesson in healing."

    "I...uh...ok...sir...?"

Blinking slowly, he just turned with Tempus' movements as he went toward Anaxagore.

"You see many natures are able to heal, water, fire, healing, tree-singing but I have found those have to jump through quite a few hoops in order to mend something, yes even 'healing'. I find that time heals all wounds."

Good thing he mentioned that, because that was the first thing that had confused him. Time was his nature and supposedly this guy as well, not healing. But then, who says that was all he knew? But from the way he spoke, it was like he meant Time healed as well?

He blinked again as he watched Tempus heal Anaxagore and smile at him almost knowingly. The aura around him, which was the best way to describe it, felt so controlled and...similar to that sensation earlier. Cretaus could only watch silently, not really sure what to say.

As Anaxagore woke up and introduced himself, while also looking at questioningly at him; the teen could only shrug and give a sheepish expression. Words still failed him. Just what did he say to a figure he was directed to by Lord Tellus himself?

Still the sheepish look turned into a genuine smile as he did a good look over Anaxagore and Esenma from where he stood, happy to see them truly and wholly well again.

"Welcome back, you two," he said to them followed by.....

"And how did you do that?" Cretaus finally managed to get out toward the powerfully confident man before them.

The world opened before her eyes. A ceiling. Her body felt… like magic had been performed on it. She wasn’t going to complain. A smile crept across the face of the Elder Skydragon. She was safe and if she was safe, the others were safe. That was all that mattered to her. There was no recollection of her dreams, though, they could hardly be called dreams. For Esenma, the world had gone dark when they landed in the fields of Othos’ plains and was just not reopening.

She sat up and her recovery began to make sense. She clapped her hands excitedly and dismounted her bed to cross the gap between her and Tempus, placing her hands on his handsome brown face.

“Oh my, you haven’t aged a bit.” She stood for a moment, looking at Tempus before turning to Cretaus.

“My my… Something is different about you. Something awakened!”

Tempus smiled as Esenma approached, his soft eyes looking into hers as he spoke and then off to Cretaus.

"Time has been kind to me," he said with a slight chuckle. He looked to Cretaus nodding at his question but first turning to Anaxagore.

"My name is Tempus Aeterna, I am an old friend of Zalzabar and Esenma. In fact, I trained under Zalzabar many moons ago." His words were soft, his movements graceful as he then turned to Cretaus. It was a stark contrast to the bubbly electric excitement that was Zalzabar.

"As for your question Cretaus, I accelerated their natural healing using my own aura to distort time forward. One day you will be able to do the same. Ah here comes the food, please eat."

The servants carrying platters of cheese, cured meats and fruit entered placing them on tables for them to eat from, chairs pulled out for each of them to sit.

"I'm sure you have many questions, go ahead and ask when you are ready. I suppose Zalzabar went to speak with King Kenrinth."

He gave another look to Cretaus.

"Tell me my friend what did Tellus say to you?"

Anaxagore fell quiet as he mused on everything that was being said, as well as that which he was witnessing.

Lady Esenma seemed very familiar with the healer, Tempus Aeterna, who didn't strike him as a ryujin, at least not at first, but claimed to have studied under Lord Zalzabar. Exactly, when? was the question that came to mind.

Moreover, there was some fuss being made over Cretaus for reasons he didn't immediately understand. From what he could see, the youngster did not appear injured, but it could stand to reason that he'd been just healed as well, but that didn't seem to be it.

"...awakened?" Anaxagore said, echoing Esenma's words, one eyebrow rising as curiosity set in.

Anaxagore did wonder briefly where the rest of the band was located, but was inwardly pleased that no one else was in the 'healing ward', as it were. Hearing that Lord Zalzabar had gone to speak to the King was not at all surprising, as Zalzabar was a Living Legend.

However, Anaxagore did do a double-take as he seemed to have 'misunderstood' the healer's words.

"Tell me my friend what did Tellus say to you?"

The man had been addressing Cretaus.

"Wait...what?" Anaxagore found himself blurting out reflexively, before he could stop the words from escaping his lips.

    "Lord Tellus spoke to... you?"

The expression of sheer incredulity on the young warrior's face was unmistakeable, and with good reason.

The Great Lord Tellus was one of 'The Three' and as far as he knew, they had not spoken to anyone in eons! That was no exaggeration! And now.....and now.....

Anaxagore blinked his steel grey eyes several times, as he tried to wrap his wits around the implications of what he'd just heard, while awaiting confirmation. Absently he moved towards one of the chairs offered and sat, then picked at the nearest plate of food on the table.
There was quite a bit happening already, which was a lot to take in.

Yeah, he was going to need to be seated for this one.

Cretaus watched as Esenma rose as well, healed back to her full self which made him smile relieved. She was still an interesting one, but she was funny. And nice. And...well.

The boy turned away a bit with a slight blush and nodded toward the woman's reply. These ryujin types seemed able to tell anything somehow!

"Yeah...awakened, huh? I guess you could say that."

With that, Tempus replied to Anaxagore and formally introduced himself. At the mention of his own prior training with Zalzabar, Cretaus grinned a little.

"You trained under Zalzabar? That's amazing! You must be really strong then..."

The comment about distorting time to heal and how he himself would be able to do it in the future, made him grin all the wider. The only thing that overshadowed that was the food! He was suddenly starving once again.

Without much preamble, he set upon the dishes like a predator.

"So...how long till I can heal like that?" he couldn't help himself ask between shoving mouthfuls of food into his face. He paused when the question about Lord Tellus came through, giving an exaggerated swallow.

Anaxagore's outburst didn't surprise him, he'd have done the same in his shoes! But it did cause a sheepish look to cross his face as he took a moment to find a chair of his own to sit down in before replying.

"Yes...Lord Tellus spoke to me. You were out cold at the time..." a pause as the boy scrunched up his face in thought, "...No. You were about to be, you were running toward me at the time. Though I didn't really think much about it in the moment. He...he came to me..."

Cretaus was quite for a long moment, trying to figure out how to describe it. He wasn't sure how he really wanted to approach the topic, but with Tempus himself being here and bringing it up; might as well get it over with.

"In here...I think?" he tapped his head, "I saw him, Anaxagore! Esenma! Clear as day! He told me he was always watching over me, I guess..."

Cretaus scratched the back of his neck, still not quite sure what to make of that fact. Still not sure why one of The Three personallyhad been watching him of all people!

"That he protected me the whole way to Zalzabar's Castle, helping me to make sure I got there. He told me that all of us with Zalzabar would be the ones to defeat Sapientis if we keep hope. Told me to find you by name," he pointed at the man in question, "Tempus Aeterna."

A pause as he considered him anew. "That you would lead us to the 'Eyes of the Three' and you would help me teach me the power Lord Tellus gifted me."

His eyes turned toward Anaxagore and Esenma, trying to marshal up the most innocent of shrugs (and likely failing due to a quirky mix of both embarrassment and pride)

"Apparently I will be able to control Time? I used it without thinking to attack that Bellus woman. Managed to injure her!"

“Bellus?” Esenma mouthed the name and blinked a few times before joining Cretaus at his food table and beginning to fill her bag with a few biscuits and cheeses. She began humming as she thought on Cretaus’ words: that he had spoken with Tellus and that Tempus would lead them to the Eyes. Holy verification that her decision to join Zalzabar was the correct one, Esenma had not needed, but it was certainly a welcomed addition to have Tellus make an appearance to Cretaus.

“You should consider yourself very lucky, Cretaus. Very gifted. In such a peculiar and rare nature. You now owe it to yourself and those you choose to serve to see just how strong you can become. We’re counting on you now.”

Alittle bit of added pressure never hurt. Well normally it didn’t.

She spun around to Tempus with a biscuit in her mouth and patted her head.

“Where’s the rain?” After a bit silence and munching, she explained. “Where’s the warning showers before the coming storm? I trust that you of all know what is coming. How much time do we have?”

Tempus waited patiently as he overlooked the boy, watching him speak, his smile widening slightly as he felt the excitement waft off the boy. Lord Tellus had indeed chosen wisely it seemed the boy was a good one. The man spoke to answer Cretaus's question about healing.

"It depends Cretaus, hopefully soon. Good, very good" He said with a slight nod thinking for a moment. "Yes, indeed the Eyes of the Three I shall inform you all about them once Zalzabar returns, as for your question my Lady" He turned to Esenma for a moment.

"I am not certain but from the reports, Kenrinth has been receiving some time within the next few weeks, Malum greatly desires Athas regardless if Zalzabar is here or not." He looked to the floor as if shuffling a memory away before looking back to Cretaus.

"It grows late and I am sure you are all most tired. I shall allow you all to retire, your bodies did just heal themselves after all"

He arose moving towards the door giving a slight nod to Cretaus.

"We shall see each other in the Morning, my friend," he said softly before exiting the room.

    New People and New Information

Zalzabar gave a laughed at Arc's response, to him it felt like it was a little forced, sarcastic even but he didn't particularly care. They continued for only a few brief moments when they approached the steps of the palace the twin guards standing outside it looking at Zalzabar and then to Arc.

"Lord Zalzabar and a guest here require an audience with the King..."

"Apologises Lord Zalzabar but due to the nature of Haugun aggression guests, even if entrusted by you Sir, are not allowed and audience with the King."

Zalzabar looked at the man who appeared to be in his early twenties, he looked scared, nervous not exactly wanting to tell Zalzabar he couldn't do something.

"Ah it's alright my boy, I had a feeling Kenrinth might be feeling shy, no worries..." he spoke with a cheery tone as he turned to Arc. The guard looking quite shocked as Zalzabar patted him firmly on the shoulder...had he just called the King but his first name?

"Alright, Arc guess you're gonna have to call it a night then you can find some lodgings at the Grand Bathhouse if you give them that invitation that you have and tell them you're with me. I'll see ya in the morning"

He would give a little wink to the man as he turned around to walk up the palace steps.

Upon arriving at the bathhouse Arc would see the aftermath of the events that had occurred. Guards being stirred awake from slumber, a male dark elf being dragged off and bound by a tall burly human, and a rather nervous-looking owner at the front. The man, Ajax, it seemed had knocked out the dark elf who had continued to squirm about, once bound he carried him over his shoulder to a room off in the bathhouse that would be closely guarded.

Kaynus and Delsanra had after their brief encounter with Sven finally been able to acquire some food and would be able to bathe, and wind down for bed the rest of the evening carrying being uneventful. Arc would have little issue getting his room key it seemed the owner was ready to believe just about anything at this point after the ordeal they had just undergone.

As the night came and went the sky breaking into day each of the adventures would hear a knock at each of their own private rooms. The voice was an Atharian guard informing them that Zalzabar was waiting for them in a private dining chamber once they were ready. Sven would awaken bound and gagged a simpler solution than troubling the mages with an inhibitor orb. As each of them, Anaxagore, Cretaus, Delsanra, Rebecca, Ne'tar, Kaynus, Dominus, Esenma, Arc, and Sven came into the dining chamber they would see Zalzabar standing off to the side conversing with a tall dark-skinned man.

The table itself was set for each of them to sit at and filled with food. There was a large jug filled with blue liquid that had been at Zalzabar's castle, his famous or infamous depending on who you asked 'Lightning Mead'. There were a variety of sausages, a white cheese that seemed to crumble easily, flatbreads, olives, tomatoes, and a whole host of other food waiting for them all. Sven would be the only one unable still bound and gagged with Ajax standing neatly behind him.

Once all gathered Zalzabar would begin to speak.

"Well glad to see everyone managed to get some rest we have much to discuss, many developments."

"Firstly we have some new friends this hooded fellow is named Arc and has thus far completed the Trial of Courage and it seems some of you have already met our other friend over here Sven who well... I'll have a chat with him in a moment"

Dominus as Zalzabar said this looked at Sven a raised eyebrow quickly forming, he knew exactly who this man was. He was a known criminal, what was Zalzabar thinking? He whipped round to Zalzabar his mouth opening to object which was simply met with a raised finger and the shaking of ahead.

    Later.

"Lastly but certainly not least with have an old student of mine here Tempus Aeterna who has some rather useful information for us all" He gave Tempus a firm thwack across his back which was met with a small, calm smile from the man but remained silent.

"Here's an Elder Ryujin you know so wise to be on your best behavior" he spoke giving a wink to Cretaus before continuing.

"As some of you may recall our main objective is to find, obtain and master the three dragon god artifacts, now before I had no idea how to find them but my friend here has been doing some research and searching and came across some documentation of these nifty little things called 'The Eyes of the Three' basically each artifact has a nice little tracking device somewhere out there. Now at first as was like 'well thanks Tempus now instead of having to find three mystical weapons that I don't know the location of now I've got to find the Three's magic balls', I imagine some of you are thinking the same thing, but well Tempus has also uncovered where they are, or well where they last were."

Zalzabar gave a looked to Tempus who was quietly looking over the various members gathered, giving a look to Cretaus and then to Anaxagore.

"Anyways the Eye of Pelagus is with an old necromancer named Noxtoten seemed he came into possession of it quite recently. The Eye of Tellus is we think buried underneath the ruins of Tel’Cae’Pel and as for The Eye of Caelum..."

The Lightning Ryujin gave another look to Tempus who extended his hand, a ripple in what seemed to be the air, as a spherical object then appeared in his hands.

    The Eye of Caelum
It seemed wisps of faint smoke were surrounding it as it hovered above Tempus's hand. Each of them would feel something off, something divine about the object a not to all different feeling from the incident of the fields of Athas, but the signal, the sensation it was weaker, much weaker just barely noticeable. Delsanra however would feel something further, as if the hairs on the back of her neck were being pulled, as if she was being drawn to the object, a deep familiarity about it.

"Unfortunately we do not know how to activate it or use it, or else I would have gone after the Crown of Caelum before coming here," spoke Tempus matter of factly causing the orb to disappear in once again.

"Indeed, BUT... it's a major step forward. There is of course the elephant in the room. Malum and the Kingdom of Haugun will attack Athas within a month's time. I discussed briefly the...shall we call it 'offer' Bellus gave us to Kenrinth who, bless his heart, laughed soundly at the idea of trusting Malum not to raze Othos to the ground. We have an important decision to make in regards to whether we stay and fight or continue with our quest."

The echoes of the decision to fight the goblins would likely form a soft undercurrent in the minds of those that had encountered the Goblin King.

"Regardless since we aren't being chased I'd say we take the time we have to spend some time training, that's what I wanted to do anyway, we can make that key decision at a later date."

He gave a smile looking at them all.

"Now once you are all done with breakfast it is TRAINING--- I jest, I jest. I mean you can if you want but I thought you all might want a chance to shop, buy new clothing, get your first payment from the bank, general stuff like that. I do however have one request and I believe Tempus does too."

Tempus gave a nod looking to Cretaus.

"Cretaus if it alright with you I would like to begin our training, or I suppose our discussions as soon as you are ready, just for today at least I would spend the whole day going over a lot of groundwork." He gave a nod and a smile at the boy as Zalzabar looked to Anaxagore.

"And Anaxagore, Mr. Arc over here needs to undergo the Trial of Integrity, I ask that before you go off that you conduct this trial for him with the utmost rigor," he said with the same bubbly excitement he often had, but in his eyes, Anaxagore would be able to note a certain seriousness

"Oh and er.... Dominus can you--"

Before he could finish Dominus, while still chewing on some food reached out his arm that seemed to stretch like an elastic band touching Zalzabr as he then became two.

"Thank you!" He said the clone quickly marching to Sven and gripping him by the collar as Zalzabar dragged him off to another room.

"Now what is that you want?"

The remaining Zalzabar looked to them all.

    "Questions? Requests? Concerns? Gossip?"

    Introductions... Bath House?

Well, he didn't meet the King, but he did learn the King's first name?

Arc filed it away, though he knew he'd likely forget soon enough.

Zalzabar was a force of charisma, powering through the next situation and causing discomfort and reassurance simultaneously.

He was, after all, very, very powerful and they were very, very much not his equal.

Arc half-waved at the motley bunch, not sure who everyone was but he was sure he'd understand. He glanced at Sven, at least, for he had a name.

There was an exchange between Zalzabar and another man, but a head shake ended that.

    Interesting.

"Lastly but certainly not least with have an old student of mine here Tempus Aeterna who has some rather useful information for us all"

"Here's an Elder Ryujin you know so wise to be on your best behavior" Zalzabar winked at one of the team and Arc followed the wink and then looked back.

More looking, more following, more talking.

"Anyways the Eye of Pelagus is with an old necromancer named Noxtoten seemed he came into possession of it quite recently. The Eye of Tellus is we think buried underneath the ruins of Tel’Cae’Pel and as for The Eye of Caelum..."

    The Eye of Caelum
Well that was pretty. Arc whistled, undoubtedly joining other appreciative comments.

"Unfortunately we do not know how to activate it or use it, or else I would have gone after the Crown of Caelum before coming here," spoke Tempus, disappearing the orb away.

Arc didn't feel comfortable opining on this, but he would settle with the majority, he decided. Make no waves, just do your best. He softly chided himself.

"Regardless since we aren't being chased I'd say we take the time we have to spend some time training, that's what I wanted to do anyway, we can make that key decision at a later date."

Beneath his cowl he frowned. Not being chased? This time?

"Now once you are all done with breakfast it is TRAINING--- I jest, I jest. I mean you can if you want but I thought you all might want a chance to shop, buy new clothing, get your first payment from the bank, general stuff like that. I do however have one request and I believe Tempus does too."

Arc twitched. Zalzabar had battered and violated him last time.

    He didn't want that again.

"Cretaus if it alright with you I would like to begin our training, or I suppose our discussions as soon as you are ready, just for today at least I would spend the whole day going over a lot of groundwork." Arc filed away that name too.

"And Anaxagore, Mr. Arc over here needs to undergo the Trial of Integrity, I ask that before you go off that you conduct this trial for him with the utmost rigor,"

Arc actually flinched at that, and looked at the one known as Anaxagore directly. He waved again, hesitantly, like you do during a group event and you want to check the person who you think is that person actually is.

"Oh and er.... Dominus can you--"

And then he became two. Oh. alright then. Arc just blinked. One Zalzbar dragged Sven off.

"Now what is that you want?" The remaining Zalzabar looked to them all. "Questions? Requests? Concerns? Gossip?"

Arc just looked at the others, though he was happy to go and start his Trial straight away.

    He eyed Anaxagore.

    Night Ends Early

Ne'tar no remember bed, Ne'tar wake in bed. Bed too soft, Ne'tar sure Ne'tar feel worse due to soft bed. Ne'tar though wonder if this kindness others thought? Ne'tar think so. Ne'tar still sit up slow as Ne'tar hear voice call, not Ne'tar companions. Ne'tar guess staff?

Ne'tar find clothes clean and ready, best clean Ne'tar seen in long time. Ne'tar impressed. Ne'tar get dressed and equipped, Ne'tar head to dinning room where first meal wait. Ne'tar smell all of it! Breath deep through nose many times, Ne'tar groan in delight. "Ne'tar could get used food table!" Ne'tar stated happily as he gathered food. Ignoring the bound and gagged member as well as any other new face at table. Ne'tar no care, this no Ne'tar thing.

Soon Zalzy start talk again, Ne'tar try focus on words between bites of many foods. After many flashy and magical things Ne'tar note that it come down to question. Any question Ne'tar pretty sure was question.

Hmm. Ne'tar ponder long moment. "Ne'tar want buy crafts, weapons, and Ne'tar want learn more. Maybe that order, Ne'tar give crafter time work as Ne'tar work. Two work and go faster." Ne'tar stated with finality, nodding at his own idea that he was very pleased with. With that settled Ne'tar reached for platter that had been near gagged man place, not he gonna eat it. Ne'tar make sure no go waste.

    Delsanra Taenya Helestina
    Come the morning

The night came and went. Blessed be the three. It seemed that everyone was so tired, that even Kaynus kept himself civil. They ate, and Delsanra made sure the others got food sent to them, before she excused herself and went to her room. But she could not simply go to bed. So she had spent much of the night, tuning herself once more to the stones, practicing on her Ryujin skills. After a quick shower, she then moved on to her mage skills, memorizing her spells, and her nightly routine before she finally drifted off to sleep.

It was daylight, when Delsanra awoke to a knock at the door. The voice was an Atharian guard informing them that Zalzabar was waiting for them in a private dining chamber once they were ready. Delsanra quickly took a quick shower, and moved herself to meet the others. As she came into the dining chamber she noted that Zalzabar standing off to the side conversing with a tall dark-skinned man.

    A new face.

As Delsanra took a seat, she noticed that the bard from earlier, Sven was bound and gaged, also in the room. A raised eyebrow, and a gentle shake of her head, as she took her seat, and began to pour herself of juice. A bit too eraly for the blue liquid, but she might take some for later.

Delsanra smiled but stayed silent as she reached over for the cheese and other foods near her. She listened carefully to Zalzabar as she continued to eat.

"Lastly but certainly not least we have an old student of mine here Tempus Aeterna who has some rather useful information for us all" He gave Tempus a firm thwack across his back which was met with a small, calm smile from the man but remained silent.

"Here's an Elder Ryujin you know so wise to be on your best behavior" he spoke giving a wink to Cretaus before continuing.

Delsanra gave a look, but was silent. So far she has met more Elder's than she though she would in her entire lifetime. She shook her head, as Zalzy continued.

The effect on Delsanra was immediate. The hair on the back of her neck rose, as she found herself leaning forward staring hard at the object.

Ancient magic. Powerful magic. It all but SANG to her. It felt powerful and ... and.. familiar? The urge to study the item. To hold it and examine it was powerful. Zalzabar continued droning on, Delsanra barely noticed. Her breathing deepened slightly.

"Unfortunately we do not know how to activate it or use it, or else I would have gone after the Crown of Caelum before coming here," spoke Tempus matter of factly causing the orb to disappear in once again.

It took Delsanra all or her might to not groan aloud. Instead, she hid her frustration by biting ito a chunk of bread and looking away, her mind racing with possible ideas. Her attention was brought back into focus when she heard someone mention something about attack Athas.

'Oh, by Herrus thrunders horns!! Not another stay and fight scenario.' she thought to herself. They had barely won that battle, and this one would be against an ARMY?! Not unless there was some serious training before then. Zalzabar responded as if he had read her mind.

    "Questions? Requests? Concerns? Gossip?"

Delsanra munched on her bread, thinking to herself. She then spoke. "This city seems to have quite a way of dealing with those who use magic. I take it there is a magical school within these walls? If so, I would like to do a bit of research, and perhaps just a bit of shopping before I do any training." she stated plainly. She was thinking of a few magical items to make things a bit easier. But if they had time, she could craft a few things herself.

But yes, she would not mind looking up a few things.

"But, I would like to know what are next place we might be going to. In case we need to carry anything special with us."

Delsanra reached over, taking a piece of fruit, as she waited for the others to speak.

    THWACK!

A throbbing pain took over Sven's body as he felt darkness come over him as his body slowly but surely fell limp. For a while, Sven found himself within his own mind, not sure how he had gotten there but made the most of it by playing his imaginary flute and lute, dancing and skipping along to the theme of his echoing mind. However, reality wasn't done with Mr.Sven; in fact, this might have been an embarrassing beginning to an epic journey or a prelude to his death!

Sven awoke to find himself in a dining hall of sorts with food assorted everywhere; the smell of rotisserie chicken filled his nostrils and instantly made him water at the mouth. Sven instinctively tried to reach for a piece only to discover that he, in fact, was bound and gagged, his behind was plastered into a chair, and the mangy mutt Ajax stood behind him.

Sven tried to reach for his dagger within his boot, but then he saw Zalzabar and became overjoyed, "rjkfnjrnfmjrnmdjrknfmkemdrjfnmrjk."

That was all that came out of Sven's mouth, but he meant to ask Zalzabar about joining his posse; he really wanted to get paid.

UUUUUUUUUGH! This is the worst; in a minute, one of my veins will burst!

Sven stated in his mind, of course, but as he was distracted within his own Greymatter, the clone of Zalzabar gripped Sven by the collar,

    "Efkafn!"

Sven was trying to say hi, but you know the gag was still on him.

    IC: Anaxagore
    Growing Enigmas

As a long lived Ryujin and a Traveler of Regnum, the young Ryujin had seen many wondrous things. Ever since joining Lord Zalzabar, it would seem that those wonders were all for naught. Not only had he fought against nigh-unavailable foes, faced the wrath of an Elder Ryujin, secretly dreamt of a Prime Evil ( it had to be a dream, right? ); but now his latest wounds were healed without the aide of any healing salves or potions - for he'd been healed by mere Willpower.

These wonders were enough to give anyone a nose bleed in contemplation. However, as if that wasn’t enough, if his keen hearing were not for some inexplicable reason betraying him, it was being said that Cretaus was not only visited by one of ‘The Three’, that being the Great Lord Tellus himself, but that he was now blessed with the ability to control Time itself?

Anaxagore felt quite literally stupefied by all these unbelievable wonders. For once he was absolutely speechless, though his jaw was slack and his eyes as big as dinner plates. Indeed, even he found these things hard to believe, surprisingly so.

As far as he could tell, Cretaus was telling the truth, that, or he believed he was. Anaxagore had no reason not to believe him, aside form his own incredulity. However, the fact that Lord Tellus himself was protecting and guiding Cretaus, was key to his acceptance - for he believed this implicitly. Anaxagore always believed that ‘The Three’, even in their long silence, were in their way, safeguarding the inhabitants of Regnum, even if they were unaware of this. Moreover, now that Sapientis was on the rise, it stood to reason that ‘The Three’ would select agents of their own.

If Anaxagore saw Cretaus’ potential, certainly one of the ‘The Three’ would as well, with far more clarity, to the point of gifting him with a very rare gift.

Anaxagore finally closed his mouth and calmed. This was a lesson for him as well, one which forced him to face any presumed biases he might harbor. ‘Might’ was not just for Ryujin. Anyone could be worthy of it, even those assumed less capable. It was a simple matter of the ‘heart’.

“Ahh…” Anaxagore mouthed to himself quietly, then smiled softly. There was danger in being lofty-minded without a balancing humility. Haugunites were a prime example of this principle. Haughtiness, for lack of a better word. Interestingly enough, he thought of Kaynus as well, but banished these troubling thoughts from his mind before they could take root.

Indeed, the hour was late and though he was not overly tired, the young warrior felt a dire need to meditate. There was much on his mind and clarity was needed before he could trust himself to go on.

“Until the morning then…” Anaxagore said after sometime, then he too turned to retire. He would sit upon his resting place in lotus position in order to achieve the clarity he sought.

Morning did come, as it always did.

Anaxagore felt mentally and physically refreshed after a good night’s meditation and only a few hours of sleep. As an early riser, he found himself showered and cleaned up before most. That’s when he realized he'd lost his armor in the battle against King Zikki. Thankfully, the guest clothes provided were quite suitable.

    “Hmm, not bad.”

Satisfied, the warrior decided to see about acquiring some breakfast, which had him rejoin his fellow travelers within a private dining chamber. In characteristic manner, he greeted them all, Cretaus, Delsanra, Rebecca, Ne'tar, Kaynus, Dominus, and Lady Esenma. Lord Zalzabar was in conversation with the ‘Time Healer’, as he’d mentally dubbed him.

There were two other beings in the room, which he did not immediately recognize.

One was a drow elf, who was for some reason bound and gagged, which prompted an eyebrow raise. The other was a man unknown to him.

    Most curious.

Seeing the great spread and variety of cheeses and meats arranged on a serving table, Anaxagore found his place next to Cretaus, fully aware that Lord Zalzabar was about to speak. Anaxagore eyed the Lightning Mead with interest, but decided to indulge afterwards, at which point Lord Zalzabar began his address.

The unknown man was introduced as Arc and the bound drow as Sven. Noted. Clearly they were in the room for a specific reason. No doubt to be revealed at a later time.

Now the news that Tempus had been a former student of Lord Zalzabar was quite intriguing. Wait, did he just suggest that Tempus was an Elder Ryujin? Was that right? And what was with that wink? Then again, Lord Zalzabar was indeed great, but still quite eccentric.

Anaxagore did not let that distract him as he continued to listen ( at least he tried b=not to let it ). It would appear that their next mission would be to retrieve dragon artifacts. That’s when the Eye of Caelum was revealed. Anaxagore squinted his eyes, studying the object which seemed to have simply materialized from thin air, at least to his senses. But before he could delve too deep into this new mystery, the object was winked away without the faintest trace for him to sense, almost like it had never been. The trinket was useless, of course, as no one knew how to use it, but still…

    ’How in….!?’

Of course, Anaxagore would not get to focus on that, because Malum and the Kingdom of Haugun were to attack Athas in a month’s time.

So, why did everyone seem so calm!!??

Anaxagore had yet to bite down on the piece of cheese he held to his mouth, even as he felt the beginning pangs of a sudden headache. So, no evacuation was being planned??? Did these people not KNOW??

Not likely, because Lord Zalzabar had the good nature to joke about ‘training’…..

Anaxagore simply blinked in disbelief, then shook his head as he chuckled. Something had changed while he’d been unconscious….

Naturally, and once again, his thoughts were derailed by circumstance. Talk of shopping for gear had perked up his interest, as he was now in dire need of combat leathers. Maybe getting a worthy sword for Cretaus would be in order as well.

Except, there were looks going around the room again.

"Cretaus if it alright with you, I would like to begin your training…” Tempus began to say.

“Excuse me?” Anaxagore answered, a bit more defensively than he intended, just like a protective older brother would. They didn’t know this man, even if he was a former student of Lord Zalzabar. Granted, he had also healed him (Anaxagore), but he was still practically a stranger they had all just met.

"And Anaxagore, Mr. Arc over here needs to undergo the Trial of Integrity…” came Lord Zalzabar’s voice. Anaxagore automatically turned to face the speaker.

“…I ask that before you go off that you conduct this trial for him with the utmost rigor,"

Anaxagore looked to Arc and then to Lord Zalzabar, as he mouthed the words, “Me?”

How in the world was he supposed to do that?

How very odd. Lord Zalzabar needed him to administer a Trial he had no idea as to how, to a total stranger, while Creatus was expected to get training from a total stranger, even as he himself needed to procure new armor and gear to defend against a fierce invasion force that no one seemed to be alarmed about in the least?

Something somewhere seemed very very out of place. Ah! maybe it was one of those ’temporal distortions’ he’d read about so very long ago. Could that be it?

There was so much going on. That had never been a problem before, so why did it all seem so disjointed now?

Sven was dragged away by a clone and no one found this unusual. What had the drow elf done? The remaining Zalzabar was asking if anyone had questions.

    Delsanra had a good one.

“…I would like to know what are next place we might be going to. In case we need to carry anything special with us."

It didn’t directly address the impending invasion, or their quest, but it still was a good question.

Anaxagore raised his hand then spoke: “Yeah, about the Trial of Integrity…?” he queried in an uncertain manner. Of course, he had another one hundred different questions, but those could wait a bit longer, at least for the moment.

    Cretaus & Kaynus Allbright IC:
    ~First Othos Meeting~

Despite all the activity and great events of the previous day, it ended simply and quietly enough. Which was greatly welcomed. Kaynus ate his meal in an awkward silence with Delsanra, slowly coming to the realization that it would remain just the two of them at that time. Being wholly uncertain what to make of this turn of events, he opted to just shift uncomfortably and otherwise focus on his food. Once he had his feel, he made sure to excuse him rather quickly for a bath and then to sleep.

Hopefully things would become clear regarding the next step in the morning.

Cretaus meanwhile bid a good evening to Tempus, eager for the promises of further training (especially in magic) that lay ahead. He ate a little bit more before finally releasing a massive yawn and excusing himself from the presence of both Anaxagore and Esenma. When his head hit the pillow in his room's bed (a bed again! He could get used to this), he was out within seconds.

    *****
As they all congregated together in the designated morning meeting place, both of them took in the newcomers quickly. Though their initial focuses were rather different. After a genuine smile in the direction of Tempus, Cretaus found himself staring toward Arc. Why was he hiding his appearance so thoroughly like that? Despite himself, the boy found himself rather intrigued by the mystery of the robed figure. And Zalzabar wanted Anaxagore to conduct the Trial of Integrity for him? That was going to be interesting!

Kaynus just huffed at it. Why play favorites with that self-righteous fool? But even more unsettling and what garnered most of his initial attention was...that bard.

"I'm sorry," he eventually spoke up without being the slightest bit sorry at all, "But why is he here?" He pointed at Sven with a look of contempt across his face.

The meeting wore on and Kaynus listened with growing impatience while Cretaus was full of curiousity...and more food...

At the end when Zalzabar opened up for questions, Cretaus had none but nodded toward Tempus. "I'm ok with that. I'm ready!" A sheepish look toward Anaxagore given his tone followed this, "I'll talk with you later tonight then? I was...uh, pointed out to Tempus for exactly this..."

It was hard to argue with a god after all. But he was still uncomfortable with just blabbing about his conversation with Lord Tellus in front of the whole group currently, especially with the newcomers.

Kaynus however ignored that whole interaction and stood up, making sure to get Zalzabar's attention. Tem-whoever's as well he hoped.

The noble held out his hand, almost expectantly, "Seeing that I am here, naturally you should be handing over this Eye of Caelum to me. Without a doubt, I will get it working and discover where the first artifact is immediately. It is my destiny!"

    Diverging Path Ways

Tempus Aeterna gave a slow look to Anaxagore his eyes sparkling slightly as he looked to the young Ryujin.

    “Excuse me?”

He gave no immediate response, Zalzabar stepping in to inform the man that he was to perform the Trial of Integrity. He waited calmly for Cretaus's response, the boy's eyes filled with a brimming curiosity.

"I'm ok with that. I'm ready!" A sheepish look toward Anaxagore given his tone followed this, "I'll talk with you later tonight then? I was...uh, pointed out to Tempus for exactly this..."

Tempus gave a small smile, turning his head to Anaxagore. It was becoming clear to him why Tellus had chosen Cretaus.

"Very good, once you are done eating we shall be on our way. And do not fret Anaxagore, Cretaus is modest, he speaks of Lord Tellus. It is by his will that I train the young man, although from what I understand..." he looked back to Cretaus, his small smile widening slightly "...the boy wishes to train as much and in as many ways as he can, I will not keep exclusive rights on Cretaus. Only for today."

Meanwhile, Zalzabar was nodding his head as he listened to Ne'tars and Delsanra's plans for the day.

"Ne'tar want buy crafts, weapons, and Ne'tar want learn more. Maybe that order, Ne'tar give crafter time work as Ne'tar work. Two work and go faster."

"This city seems to have quite a way of dealing with those who use magic. I take it there is a magical school within these walls? If so, I would like to do a bit of research, and perhaps just a bit of shopping before I do any training. But, I would like to know what are next place we might be going to. In case we need to carry anything special with us."

Zalzabar smiled at this, nodding his head.

"Yes, indeed a fair question Delsanra. Well given that the other two Eyes are likely to our South on this continent it would be best if we traveled through Ziapoah, then along the border between Ziapoah and Xan to find Noxtoten, and then we have to travel through most of Xan to get to the ruins of Tel’Cae’Pel"

In other words a dense forest with a balanced climate that would progressively give way to the great swathes that was the Xan desert. At least that was the plan. His attention then turned to the eternal outburst machine that was Kaynus Allbright.

"Seeing that I am here, naturally you should be handing over this Eye of Caelum to me. Without a doubt, I will get it working and discover where the first artifact is immediately. It is my destiny!"

Zalzabar gave a sigh his face disappointed in expression that was not surprised but exasperated all the same. Tempus, his face remaining fairly neutral, leaned towards Zalzabar.

    "Is he always like this?"

"In the time I have known him, yes"

Tempus gave a slight shrug looking towards Kaynus.

"I sincerely doubt it is your destiny young Kaynus Allbright, but I see no reason for you not to try." He opened his hand once more the Eye appearing as it had before, as if coming forth from a ripple of reality before Tempus whispered a word to it as if he was placing some kind of enchantment on it and then blew on it as the air carried it towards Kaynus.

"Although from what Zalzabar has told me I reckon you should attempt to master all three of your keening stones before attempting to...well do something"

The same sensation that had been there before existed now as if it was pulling on Delsanra, the faint sound of the air, as if it was whispering, although if it was should could not tell what it was saying. Kaynus and the others would not be able to hear the same sound but would still feel the innate magics within. Once he touched it he would feel how cold it was, as if he was holding a cube of ice that did not melt in his hands.

This was all met with a raised eyebrow from Zalzabar who looked back to Tempus somewhat confused who merely chucked before responding to him quietly.

"I placed a little enchantment on it, I'll be able to retrieve it if need be"

Zalzabar gave a nod before looking to Anaxagore's raised hand as the adept then spoke.

“Yeah, about the Trial of Integrity…?”

Zalzabar chuckled as he looked to Anaxagore stepping forward slightly.

"You seem confused Anaxagore, but why? Do not think on what has come before. You shall make this trial your own. It need not be an illusion if you think that is not the way, but you call yourself Protector of Regnum do you not? To truly grow into that role you not only need to become stronger physically, and magically but you must learn to appraise your peers, find and reach forth the good in each person and bring it the spotlight, nurture it, let it grow. For what is to protect if you know not the very people you are fighting for? That is the essence of this trial, knowing the core of what makes a person who they are.

And let that simmer in your minds for the rest of you, we are heading into a dark storm and I cannot guarantee the outcome of it. To defeat the Crimson Knights, to defeat Malum, to defeat Sapientis we must achieve the very best we can be."

He looked back to Anaxagore, Zalzabar's eyes now serious and devoid of the jolly mirth moments ago. They were not harsh just focused, brimming with purpose.

"Make it your own Anaxagore, I'm confident you will come up with something, and whatever you decide I will accept"

Yes, Anaxagore... oh how you gush with Integrity...

Zalzabar then flashed a smile before hopping back towards Tempus. Once everyone was done eating, various servants came in cleaning away the remains as each of them stood. Dominus gave a sigh as he intook all the news, this was a lot even for him having served for Zalzabar for the past one hundred and fifty odd years. He gave a galnce over to Rebecca before looking back to Ne'tar and Delsanra.

"Alright well I'm pretty sure most of you are new to town so we can travel around as we shop if that is agreeable, were there any magical items in particular you wanted Delsanra?" he would then move out front waiting for those that wished to travel his eyes glinting for a moment in thought as they looked to Zalzabar and then back at Kaynus before moving on.

Zalzabar would turn to Anaxagore and Arc, the same broad grin plastered on his face.

"Well Anaxagore there should be a nice courtyard for you to conduct your trail, the sooner the better for if Arc does pass I would like to catch him up with your elder training after all. Once Dominus has his turn of course. "

He then whipped round to Esenma flashing a smile.

"A word Esenma if don't mind"

Sven would find himself taken to one of the bath house guest rooms, it was small but well furnished the clone of Zalzabar chuckling to himself as he looked to the man.

"Ah right, right the gag" He have a slight tap on Sven's shoulder as electricity bounced around him disintegrating the various bonds that held him as Zalzabar looked to him with a large smile. Sven would likely note that the electricity did not harm him, just pass around his person in a display of control before disappearing altogether.

"I hear you caused quite the ruckus last night, my, my you really wanted my attention didn't you."

He gave a slight smile, looking at him, his hair crackling slightly with electricity.

"I know precisely who you are Sven Valenthyne, I never did like the fact that the Spire existed, horrible place really, but you're supposed to dead and yet here you are... Still, I don't have any issues with a criminal, a ruffian if you will, joining our merry little crew, the Three know I've had my own fair share run-ins with the law in my day."

He gave a satisfied smile as he recalled some distant memory before looking back to Sven.

"Still I expect Kenrinth will be quite annoyed if I snub him like that so you better have some amazing reason you want to tag along."

    Delsanra Taenya Helestina
    Discussing the day

Delsanra asked about their next trek, as she nibbled on a piece of fruit. Zalzabar responded.

Delsanra stiffled a groan. From the snow to the forests, to the plains, and then the desert. Clothing was going to be interesting.

    Then IT spoke...

"Seeing that I am here, naturally you should be handing over this Eye of Caelum to me. Without a doubt, I will get it working and discover where the first artifact is immediately. It is my destiny!"

Zalzabar gave a sigh as Tempus, his face remaining fairly neutral, leaned towards Zalzabar.

    "Is he always like this?"

"In the time I have known him, yes"

Tempus gave a slight shrug looking towards Kaynus.

"I sincerely doubt it is your destiny young Kaynus Allbright, but I see no reason for you not to try." He opened his hand once more the Eye appearing as it had before, as if coming forth from a ripple of reality

Delsanra was glued to the spot, as her eyes watched the orb move towards Kaynus.

Again, that strange sensation, and it took everything that was Delsanra to NOT reach over and snatch the item. Her eyes narrowed..it felt like it was whispering. How could he understand the subtle bits of magic about it?

She ripped her eyes away from the item, before she could no longer trust herself, and stared into her plate, as she continued to eat. She WOULD get her hands on that orb. But she must buide her time. So she thought about what magics could be found within.

Delsanra was trying so hard NOT to think of the orb, that she almost missed that Zalzabar was speaking to them all again.

"..And let that simmer in your minds for the rest of you, we are heading into a dark storm and I cannot guarantee the outcome of it. To defeat the Crimson Knights, to defeat Malum, to defeat Sapientis we must achieve the very best we can be."

The group quickly finished up their meal, when she heard Dominus speaking towards her.

He gave a galnce over to Rebecca before looking back to Ne'tar and Delsanra.

"Alright well I'm pretty sure most of you are new to town so we can travel around as we shop if that is agreeable, were there any magical items, in particular, you wanted Delsanra?"

Delsanra stood, brushing off her dress. "Well, besides normal clothing, I would like to find something to help with our transportation. Perhaps an item that we can use to help in transportation. And I have a few other ideas.

Delsanra fixed her cloak around her shoulders. "I would enjoy the chance to check out the town before I go back to my studies." Delsanra walked over to join Dominus and whoever else was going.

    Kaynus Allbright IC:
    ~Bath House, Othos~

After some conspiratorial whisperings amongst themselves, Zalzabar and Tempus ceased their unequivocally banal banter and allowed him to have the orb at last. But behold! They dared utter another mockery of his person. It was starting to get almost too much for Kaynus to tolerate. These plebes!!

"I sincerely doubt it is your destiny young Kaynus Allbright, but I see no reason for you not to try."

Snatching the orb at last, he huffed at the two men across the way. "You should never doubt me. But seeing as this our first meeting, I will allow this incongruity this time. Now watch as I embark upon my destiny before you all!

Holding the orb, nothing immediately happened. Naturally, this annoyed him but no matter! Kaynus remembered the practice with the stones and the fact that it may prove useful here truly irked him, not that he'd ever say 'thanks' to that man.

Taking hold of the Eye of Caelum with both hands, he flooded it with his aura. First in his usual bombastic way, then slowly condensing it as far as he currently could go, his face progressively become redder and redder until...

Kaynus sat down heavily, one could almost say collapsed, into his chair and the orb found its way onto the table after being jarred loose from his hands upon impact given the sudden loss of energy from the attempt.

    He had overexerted himself.

Breathing heavily, Kaynus slowly lifted his eyes to the item on the table to see if he it had finally opened. It should have opened. Right?

    Rebecca Dragon
    Othos

After a rest Rebecca was ready for another day. The healing from Ne'tar made sure she was fighting fit for the next day. She came down in just her arming doublet and simple trousers. Lacking her armor for the first time outside of sleeping. The doublet itself wasn't fully tightened. The neck was loose showing more of her chest and the scars that crisscross it. At her hip was her sword showing that she wasn't completely off guard as she came down to breakfast. It was a 'civilized' city, with a strong military, so she wasn't too worried about being attacked, even less so in the bath house.

Finding Dominus she instantly took the seat next to the snow elf pressing her shoulder against him her fiery red hair falling over her face a little.

"Well good morning Master Dominus…" she said quietly but with that distinctive lilt that sounded both flirty and mocking at the same time. "Sleep well?" She looked over to the new member of the team that was bound and gagged. Her eyes caught the slight look between Dominus and the newcomer. "New friend? Seems a little tied up at the moment." She let out a little chuckle taking a bit of meat and cheese listening to the rambling speech of Zalzabar. More hunting, more tracking down of mystical items...ah yes the contract stretch. When mercs were sent in for one job, then told to do another job and another, all the while the original job faded away and bogged you down in a mission that you didn't sign up for originally.

And again they were tasked with staring down fight that wasn't there's. They had their mission and it didn't sound like they needed to get involved. The fate of Othos was not their shoulders, didn't they have the whole world to consider?

Not that it mattered to her, she was always up for a fight...but it wasn't like she was getting paid extra to get involved. Athas wasn't above hiring mercenaries, mostly on the frontiers, but she doubted they would have a merc standing with them as they defended their capital. They had time to leave, to go hunting for the next item on their ever growing list.

Though it seemed debates would wait for now, there was more training...there was a sly smirk on her lips as she turned Master Dominus.

"Seems we'll get to have another Session…" She whispered into his ear. "Master Dominus." The snark dripped from her words though she couldn't deny there was small bit of comfort know that she'd be locking horns with him and not someone she could actually kill.

"Well, I need to see the armor smith to fix my armor, then I'm sure I can find things to...occupy my time…" Her thoughts moved to the gladiatorial arena that once operated here...could be a way to sate her blood without taking strips off Dominus...She rose from the table tightening up her doublet and heading up to her room to collect her armor.

    The Eye of Caelum
As Rebecca slide into her seat Dominus would glance at eye briefly as if taking stock of what she wanted.

    "Sleep well?"

    "Yes"

"New friend? Seems a little tied up at the moment."

    "Well he deserves it"

His responses were characteristically short and curt in contrast to the 'friendly' nature of Rebecca. Besides his mind was focused on Tempus and Zalzabar, eyeing them carefully, as he thought over whether they should stay or leave. Athas had been something of a second home for the Snow Elf. He had trained in, he had served in the Atharian Military for decades. And while part of him thought it would be best to move on, to focus on these 'Eyes', to find the Dragon God Artifacts, the young teen elf within could not just let this place burn before the armies of Haugun.

He glanced to Rebecca wondering what she thought about all this, did she have a place she called home? Or at least was once home? He recalled that Veritas had spoken of the Laughing Butcher of South Osatia from his travels there, and now he knew that this was that warrior. South Osatia, such a faraway land it was on the other side of the world. He recalled the memory of the previous day, of the blade that had pierced his chest. While it was only a clone the memories were still within him. How many times had she killed him now? Twice? Three times? He had been killed in so many ways he lost track easily, his mind shuddering as he brought his hand to his neck. The sensation of Roger the Red beheading him from the attack at Zalzabar's castle.

Those eyes. That aura. That intent. Rebecca was no monster, she was a cursed warrior, and in truth so was Dominus, in a way. Even if he wanted to die he could not, his body repairing itself automatically regardless if he willed it or not. Zalzabar had told him that he would outlive him, and any being for that matter. Elf, Human, Dwarf, Aviskin, all creatures Dominus would outlive them all. Destined to be alone.

"Seems we'll get to have another Session… Master Dominus."

Dominus looked round to her, a small smile passing onto his lips. Even if he would be alone in time, he was not now.

"Would you like to battle me in my dragon form this time?" A small sly smirk on his face as he pictured Rebecca dodging and weaving his fire breath. He stood announcing to those that wanted to leave about what they wanted to do, his head nodding as he took it all in.

"Well, besides normal clothing, I would like to find something to help with our transportation. Perhaps an item that we can use to help in transportation. And I have a few other ideas."

"Ne'tar go now. If see good water scroll or heal scroll, Ne'tar curious."

    "Er...okay..."

"Well, I need to see the armor smith to fix my armor, then I'm sure I can find things to...occupy my time…"

As Rebecca spoke this Kaynus was still busy pouring his essence into the Eye of Caelum, it now sitting on the table quiet as ever for a moment until...

The wisps of smoke around the orb flashed slightly before growing in size and a single word emitting from them before become tranquil once more.

    "Unworthy"
Dominus could not help but give a chuckle, his arm stretching to collect the Eye. He looked round to find Tempus but he had already left with Cretaus, so with a shrug, he passed it to Delsanra.

"You're the resident mage of us five, have at it."

His eyes whipped round to Kaynus in expectation of an objection.

"You tried kid, get over it"

Dominus would see Ajax giving him a nod as he accomapined Rebecca, Ne'tar, Kaynus and Delsanra. They would then all make their way to the Banking Guild Branch in Othos. The streets were lined with passerby, mostly human, but some elves here and there. There were even some dwarves every so often.

As they came to it the building they would see people rush in and out. It was a fairly tall building, with large pillars on the outside as they entered, they would make their way to banking still, a large shrewd-looking Aviskin awaiting them there.

Dominus gave them a nod, moving towards the Aviskin with the collected paper slips Zalzabar had given them that entitled them each to one hundred silver pieces. Dominus explained once they collected the cash he would split into three and take them each their separate ways to find what they needed. So thus the others would await there as Dominus discussed with the Aviskin who was closely inspecting the documents that he had been supplied as Ajax turned to the rest of them, a quizzical look in his eyes.

"So did you all go to Zalzabar's castle separately? Hate each other to guts yet?" He spoke with a chuckle as he over looked the two humans, half-orc and snow elf.

    Delsanra Taenya Helestina
Setting out the days events ... not

It didn't pass on Delsanra that Rebecca placed herself close to Dominus. Perhaps because they were both warriors. Or perhaps because he was about the only one who could speak with her on the same level. Some folks were busy with other things. Kaynus was of course being Kaynus. But the thoughts of shopping did make her focus on several things. And of course, visiting the mages of this land. Each land dealt with its mages differently. And seeing the orbs being used in town, she gathered that these people were used to handling errant magic users.

When the orb was produced once more, Delsanra locked eyes on it. She listened as Kaynus proclaimed that he alone could unlock the orb. So she watched with a bit of interest, as he sweated, grunted, and nearly fell over his efforts. The orb rolled out of his hands, and Delsanra stopped herself from making a grab for the orb. Instead, Dominus grabbed the orb, picking it up. She barely heard Ne'tar say something about looking for scrolls.

The wisps of smoke around the orb flashed slightly before growing in size and a single word emitting from them before become tranquil once more.

    "Unworthy"
Dominus chuckled, his arm stretching to collect the Eye. Delsanra kept a neutral face, but she felt it was not his. Something about that orb seemed a bit familiar. She thought about the story Dominus had told her earlier as he picked up the orb. He looked round to find Tempus but he had already left with Cretaus, so with a shrug, he passed it to Delsanra. Delsanra nearly sang in delight, but she stayed calm, as she reached out to take the orb.

"You're the resident mage of us five, have at it."

From nowhere, Delsanra produced a silken scarf, which she quickly used to wrap the item.

His eyes whipped round to Kaynus in expectation of an objection.

"You tried kid, get over it."

Delsanra cradled the object as if it was a baby. Caelum. Eye of Caelum. Crown of Caelum...Esenma Skydragon: Daughter of Caelum…. She is a wind dragon? Would this be attuned so as well? Perhaps? Perhaps not. There was also the issues of fire and ice. That she remembered from Dominus story.

She kept looking to the orb, and then to the others...

    Back at the orb...

Delsanra shrugged her shoulders. No need to hurry towards failure. There were things she wished to do. The orb will be there, as she thought more upon its secrets.

    BUT..

Taking such an item towards the mages guild was far more dangerous. She sighed deeply.

"Do you mind if I do my shopping later? I wish to see if I might have some luck, but one does not simply command such an item. Especially after seeing its words toward Kaynus." Delsanra nodded her head, looking over towards Dominus.

"I rather try this in my room, if you dont mind," she stated simply.

She really did want to shop, but being present with this object was simply too much to pass upon. But if Zalzy was correct, they would be here for awhile, and she would be able to shop later.
