Amazings made sure there was no drama in their second game against the Zodiac Guardians. Ty Cobb got a two-run double in the third to get them on the board, and a Johnny Bench RBI single combined with a throwing error from Sammy Sosa pushed it to 6-0 Amazings in the fifth. Bob Feller gave up a two-run homer to Aaron Judge and not much else, as Amazings win it 9-2.

Final: Amazings 9, Zodiac Guardians 2
    Win: Feller / Loss: Candiotti

    From Alaska

They might be Every City, but in this one, the Bandwagoners were Ever Guessing, as Charlie Buffinton kept them off balance all day. Buffinton had a complete game shutout, giving up seven hits and striking out three. Frank Howard homered, and Arky Vaughan hit an RBI Double, and that saddled Denny Driscoll with the hard luck loss.

    Final: GoT 2, ECB 0
    Win: Buffinton / Loss: Driscoll

    From seattle

Bill Dahlen and Heavy Johnson each had three hits. Bill Dickey and Mookie Betts each homered. Dickey ahd four RBI, and the pilots topped A Shaq of Their own 7-4

    Final: stsp 7, Shaq 4
Win: Lincecum / Loss: Vance / Save: Vander Meer

    From Queens

Looking to get back to their winning ways, Sithi of Osten Ard handed the ball to Bob Gibson, and he responded with a complete game effort, giving up one run on four hits, and striking out nine. Would Sithi give him any offense to back that effort? They would. George Davis hit a two-run homer, and Roberto Clemente had an RBI double. Sithi win it 3-1.

    Final: Sithi 3, Enhancers 2
    Win: Gibson / Loss: deGrom

    From Columbia

The Demonbags were out swinging the bats early, with an RBI double in the first inning from Cleveland’s Own “Big” Ed Delahanty giving them an early 1-0 lead. In the second inning, they’d get an RBI single from Billy Hamilton, an RBI ground out from Jeff “Bag-and-a-half” Bagwell, and a two-run single from David Ortiz to take a 5-1 lead. THE Family Madrigal would storm back though, and after a run in the bottom of the third, a four-run inning of their own – in the fourth, would see them take the lead. In that fourth inning, all the runs came in after Hugh Duffy had hit into a double play, with a King Kelly two-run double, a Trea Turner RBI single, and a Lou Boudreau RBI single providing the runs. A Tris Speaker RBI double in the fifth pushed the Madrigal lead to 7-5, but a single from David Ortiz to score Delahanty in the 6th brought it to 7-6. However, the Demonbags would only get a single runner on base from there, and would fall in this one.

    Final: Madrigal 7, Demonbags 6
Win: R Johnson / Loss: Koufax / Save: Dorr

    From the Windy City

The Good news for Let’s Play Two? They got some hits and even scored some runs in this one. The Bad news? The Gales of November scored a bunch of runs. Barry Larkin hit a three-run homer, Ron Santo had three hits and three RBIs, and GoNe got 12 runs on 15 hits as they easily pushed past LPT in this one.

Final: Gales of November 12, LPT 3
    Win: Blyleven / Loss: Jenkins

    From Queens

Derek Jeter hit a three-run homer late in the game to try to make this one interesting, but an early barrage of runs from Amazings, including home runs from Ty Cobb and Charlie Blackwell, meant that even that was too little, too late. John Smoltz retired all eight batters he faced, after coming in after the Jeter homer, to close it out. A post-game reporter tried to get a quote from Smoltz about the performance, but the answer was so nonsensical and long winded, the reporter actually quit instead of finishing the interview.

Final: Amazings 8, Zodiac Guardians 5
Win: Gooden / Loss: Ryan / Save: Smoltz

    From seattle

Addie Joss showed stone temple seattle pilots the bottom line in this one. And that bottom line was an impressive box score, with one run allowed on five hits as he went the distance. Pedro Martinez had another – by his standards at least – shaky outing giving up 4 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings (as I type this I think I realize I might have forgotten to change tom’s starters? Maybe?), including a homerun from the Instagram worth Ross Barnes.

    Final: Shaq 6, stsp 1
    Win: Joss / Loss: Martinez

    From Alaska

JR Richard pitched the Bandwagoners to a win in their finale against Game of Throws. Richard had a beauty, going the distance and giving up one run on seven hits. Kenny Lofton, Alex Rodriguez, and Yogi Berra each drove in two runs as the Bandwagoners take it 7-1

    Final: ECB 7, GoT 1
    Win: Richard / Loss: Rijo

    From Columbia

The Demonbags would once again stake an early lead. This time, it was a three-run homer from David Ortiz in the top of the third, answering a Joe DiMaggio solo shot in the top of the bottom of the second, putting the Demonbags up 3-1. But, once again, the Demonbags would give up that lead, with a Trea Turner two-run single in the bottom of the third tying it up at three. But, this time, it would be the Demonbags rallying, with a two-run single from Bag-and-a-half and a sac fly from Joe Torre putting them up 6-3 in the sixth. Bag-and-a-half would add an RBI single in the ninth, and Satchel Paige would finish it off for the complete game victory, and the Demonbags were assured of no worse than a tie for that final wild card spot at the end of this set of games.

    Final: Demonbags 7, Madrigal 3
    Win: Paige / Loss: Foster

    From Queens

Trying to keep peace with the Demonbags for that final playoff spot, Sithi of Osten Ard got a little boost to their chances in the second inning, when Earl Averill would hit a two-run homer off of Guy Hecker. That was the only run Hecker would allow, as he gave up just six hits in this one. But, it was enough, because Smoky Joe Wood tossed a complete game shutout, scattering seven hits, and seeing Sithi through to victory. The Enhancers’ best chance to score was in the bottom of the sixth, when Todd Helton and Chuck Klein singled, and a wild pitch put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. But, Wood got groundouts from Mike Piazza and Robin Yount, and the Enhancers never got another runner in scoring position.

    Final: Sithi 2, Enhancers 0
    Win: Wood / Loss: Hecker

What a brutal last few set of games for me! But if there's one thing I'm good at, it's struggling all season and then killing it down the stretch to force a game 163. So let's do this thing!! Also, Bob Gibson has been incredible for me since I acquired him. If I knew it would work (which it actually might in 1957), I'd just trot out him, Smoky Joe, and Chance and be done with it.

Nice job on the commanding sweep guys. Glad you finally decided to stop constantly wetting the bed against LP2 now that it’s too late to actually matter.

5/9 on the Meta and then I couldn't think of a popular answer for Boston/Baltimore, so I went deep into the well of incredibly baseball names - bonus that said great baseball name has a picture on the grid that looks more haunting than any Halloween costume I saw this week.

I figured one of Bagwell or Biggio would be the Meta, and I picked the wrong Killer B. And I'm a little surprised Verlander is a more popular pick than Ryan.

    4/9 meta

Totally blanked on Biggio but still figured Altuve would be the meta. Also almost went Ernie Banks for the center square after going Fergie in the center right.

4/9 meta, got a little too clever with some picks.

But seriously, 2% on the top center? Does no one know baseball history?

Didn't really try for the meta, but still got 3/8.

Almost put Jack Clark in the bottom left but it would have been a total guess, I have no memory of him playing for the Giants. And yet it is the meta for now.

Was trying to go for only FODEUSS rostered players, but couldn't think of one for center square.

I'm also not 100% if anyone has Amos Otis on their roster, but if nobody does, they should.

Disappointed bottom left has the wrong picture though.

Four on the Meta, but i was honestly just going for the first name that popped into mind without thinking about it too much.

Well. second name for top-right, because I used the first name in top-center
