Yes. Trump could be a huge spoiler for the Republican party in the foreseeable future.

    @Luke02
As I’ve said, I’m not asking about what happens if on Jan 20 he refuses to leave, with Biden having been certified the winner.

    @DarkGingerJedi
Excellent breakdown but same thing as my response to Luke in that I’m envisioning Trump trying to use the military to stop the regular electoral process from occurring or completing so that he (in his mind only) legitimately wins the presidency via House vote.
That’s not particularly subtle but it’s way more subtle than declaring martial law, the election null and void, etc.
That would be all kinds of crazy but what do the uniformed generals and soldiers do if they get those orders?

Our feeder elementary school district is going to have fully remote starting the week of Thanksgiving. Were just sitting here being like, "ummmmmm hello what about us?" So far total silence from the school board administration. They just keep plotting us along like nothing is happening even though we seem to be having another case in the building every other day now.

So, Trump wants to continue inflicting damage on his way out. His administration has been sanctioning medicine to Iran. Now, they want to impose more sanctions. To think that Biden will rejoin this deal soon.

I can imagine there will be a remnant of Trump's administration who walk around wearing MAGA hats and claim he is the rightful president. Maybe they will get their own cable channel or something?

So the guy that runs the Election Risk Control portion of US DHS / CyberSecurity who's been essentially debunking Trump's BS in real-time:

    https://www.cisa.gov/rumorcontrol

Yeah, apparently they're looking to axe a bunch of folks at the CISA, starting near the top...

Assistant Director for Cybersecurity, Bryan Ware is already gone (resigned after being asked), Director, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Christopher C. Krebs (who runs the Rumor Control) expects to be fired. and they expect a mass firing over there.

So this Million Maga March is actually happening? I expect a larger turnout than anyone thinks. I live assuming that people are generally stupid, crazy or both. Its the only way to live these days.

although the lump himself won't ever concede, it sounds like the trump campaign is coming to terms with the ineptitude of their legal challenges. they are now openly targeting "faithless electors" in 20 states before the EC votes on 12/14.

i know we're mostly lazy as **** and generally can't be bothered to look up from our phones, but if you want to see this country burned to the ground, roll with that strategy.

The caravan already rolled through the capital of Florida, where it garnered a whopping 100 supporters to cheer them on.
Also, the Proud Boys are facing a civil war where openly pro-Nazi members want control - so what happens in DC is anyone's guess.
We were also told Trump would be doing rallies as early as last Monday. I guess that's not happening?

My guess is @dp4m all will be hired back within the first week of the Biden presidency. The problem is that between now and then Trump can do a lot of damage just due to spite. All these firings are just revenge for people during their job and not the wishes of Trump. I never even see anything like it.

The counter protesters will have a much bigger crowd then the MAGA fools but I do worry about the neo-Nazis starting something. Unlike Tilden in 1876 who told his supporters to not turn to violence, Trump will be cheering it out.

I expect much much less than a million Magas Marching. Trump will say it's more. Would Trump address the tens of thousands who show up?

    So you were saying...

Trump voters are flocking to a TV channel that claims Biden is not president-elect

President Trump's fans who don't think Fox News is right-wing enough have another option on cable and satellite: Newsmax TV. And something dramatic has happened in the past week: A big audience has sought out Newsmax TV for the first time.

Over the summer, when I started to keep an eye on Newsmax's Nielsen ratings, the channel was averaging about 25,000 viewers at any given time -- a tiny number by any TV news standard. As the election was approaching, the audience ticked up, but it was still just a fly on the Fox elephant's back. In the final week of October, Newsmax was averaging just 65,000 viewers at any given time.

Then came the election. Newsmax averaged 182,000 viewers during the election week that ended on Sunday. And it is growing even more this week. On Monday the channel averaged 347,000 viewers. On Tuesday, 437,000 viewers. Evening shows like "Spicer & Co" and "Greg Kelly Reports" are reaching 700,000 and 800,000 viewers. These shows struggled to hit 100,000 before the election!

They just keep going deeper and deeper down that rabbit hole, don't they?

Million MAGA march! That is a parody of the Million Man March.

You know that someone will contract Covid with those numbers.

Any strategy that has trump still in office after inauguration means this country gets burned to the ground. If trump tries you’ll have genuine talk about secession and this time from states that actually matter

so,what are the odds of President Biden making Puerto Rico/DC into state(s)? and would they be democratic?

He would if they win the senate. DC will be democrats. Puerto Rico is more iffy but even if Puerto Rico elects Republicans it’s worth it. They have voted multiple times to become a state.

Given that SCOTUS has already blessed such maneuvers to fund that useless wall, then Biden should be home free.

HS is only like $50 billion. Defense is nearly $700 billion. CARES was over $2 trillion. Cash payments to Americans cost $300 billion. Increased unemployment cost $260 billion. I don't think there's enough to take out of defense/HS to even cover cash payments for everyone.

Yeah, I know it wouldn't be nearly enough to cover what CARES did even absent the absurd corporate handouts. I just don't expect McConnell to pass jack **** as long as he's in control, and a hypothetical Democrat "majority" after a double win in Georgia might not be sufficient to ram something through.

On these last elections we were asked the question of statehood: yes or no

I believe statehood won but only garnered 52% of the vote. If you look at that number, half the island does not want statehood. Pro statehood people in government have taken it as a strong and clear message for statehood, but I very much doubt this will get anywhere, even in with a federal government predisposed to actually entertain the idea in a serious manner.

It won't be. At least one Democrat will **** it up by voting the other way, or by hijacking negotiations and ruining the package.

There's no hope in diverting funds from defense. We'd be lucky to get $50 billion out of defense, and...I don't know if that's enough for anything, or worth the effort. Plus, it's up to Biden. He's not touching defense funds. There's just no hope in the idea.

Oh, I expect the Biden administration to be a disaster worse than Obama's second term or what HRC's tenure would have been. I expect he and his staff and cabinet full of corporate stooges and their allies in Congress to be completely not up to the challenges set out before them and they'll continue the 21st century Democratic project of desperately trying to recapture the 1990s. Without any broad policies to help the working class and Republican state legislatures gerrymandering the Dems will be blown out in 2022; anointed successor Kamala Harris will face serious primary challengers and then struggle in the 2024 general election against whatever ghoul the Republicans nominate. I hope I'm wrong, though!

I think of what I'm saying as more thought experiments than anything I expect the Biden administration to actually take up. [insert Bob's Burgers "I'm literally grasping at straws!" gif]
