Zero, if you're smart enough to stop using twitter, or if you're only smart enough to just stop following Trump.

I got a nice tax refund this year and he has not done anything to adversely affect me personally other than degrade my profession with the constant disdain for academia and educators.

But it’s not all about me or my wallet.

I would rather pay more in taxes and have a leader who behaves like a mature adult, who does not look the other way when white nationalist terrorists attack, who has compassion for asylum seekers, who respects women as fellow humans and not as meat on a butcher block, who respects academia and science, and who accepts criticism from decades old press organizations.

More like she assumes to much. As in that enough Americans would actually turn out to vote for such a person instead of a racist, misogynistic blowhard with absolutely no qualifications for the office whatsoever and a penchant for rapist, incestuous, and pathologically lying behavior.

There's nothing for him to retire from... He was a temporary special investigator. He's just done with that. It doesn't get replaced if the investigation is over.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/29/us/politics/immolation-white-house.html

"WASHINGTON — A man was hospitalized on Wednesday after apparently setting himself on fire on the Ellipse, a park south of the White House."

"The man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, according to a spokesman for the Park Police.

Videos of the episode showed the man walking several paces while engulfed in flames as law enforcement personnel sprayed him with fire extinguishers."

"By evening, officials said they still had not determined the man’s identity or the motivation for his actions."

i thought i would drop this here.

Found the video, but I won't link it since I have no idea if the mods here will freak out. Just go to Liveleak and type White House

This is weird, because its not The Onion.

    https://www.theguardian.com/busines...ment-molecules-freedom-fossil-fuel-rebranding

Mark W Menezes, the US undersecretary of energy, bestowed a peculiar honorific on our continent’s natural resources, dubbing it “freedom gas” in a release touting the DoE’s approval of increased exports of natural gas produced by a Freeport LNG terminal off the coast of Texas.

“Increasing export capacity from the Freeport LNG project is critical to spreading freedom gas throughout the world by giving America’s allies a diverse and affordable source of clean energy,” he said.

I had the same thought of “how is this not an Onion headline?” when I saw it on a friend’s page.

“Freedom gas”, “Freedom” is apparently code for “I’ll destroy the planet if I ****ing want to.”

"If we presume that every culture is equal and has an equal amount to contribute to our civilization, then we're devaluing the contributions of the people that laid the foundation for America, and that's our Founding Fathers," King said. "They understood this. They understood all of the things that I've just described, and they shaped it into our Declaration. They shaped it into our Constitution that laid the foundation for the greatest nation the world has ever seen, and we need to hang on to those principles and restore them and refurbish the pillars of American exceptionalism."

He should have added “that’s why they were slave owners” to the end of “they understood this” just for a little more transparency. It’s not as if Senator “what’s wrong with white supremacy?” hasn’t been very clear about his mentality in the past.

My own brother has said this. “Trump has put more money in my wallet than any other President in my lifetime.” He’s also said he doesn’t care about things like what happens to immigrants at the border because it doesn’t affect him personally.

That’s the kind of electorate we’re dealing with in 2020, folks.

I will never understand this american mentality that we are the greatest and embody freedom, which is why we are so powerful and great. Like do these dip***** not understand that for starters we stole most of our ideology from France and Greece, and secondly that we got most of our territory through ruthless wars like the Mexican American War, the Spanish American War, The Philippine American War, and by staying out of the world wars till the last second. Like none of that speaks to bravery, and it sure as hell does not speak to being arbiters of peace. Like I understand the racist and pathetic logic of those who are like "well we ended up king of the hill so we must act as an bastion of freedom".

They are wrong and hypocritical, but at least there is plausible deniability in that they don't expressly say that we gained this supposed position by earning it. Plus, why did the greatest nation end up having a civil war? And since the likes of King believe that the south was in the right, then why does he act like the US is the greatest nation when his ideal america was defeated?

That and pretty sure the "greatest nation" would not have been humiliated in Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs. Just....I know I am trying to talk about logic against the arguments of a nutjob, but still even by his own bigoted idiocy there should be some level of internal logic

So he’s doing his greatest hits this morning:

    Mueller is conflicted and wrong
    Russia is innocent
    John McCain killed healthcare

And the Fox News minions have already sprung to his defense to attack Mueller.

I’m so sick of this and wish Mitch McConnell would hurry up and die so we can actually see if there can be any progress in the Senate.
