Okay, just for those of us who don´t use streaming services. What Black Sheep References did come up in the Episode exactly?

A surprisingly large amount of the episode focused on rebuilding a Naboo N-1 Starfighter. It started out as not much more than a pile of parts, much like ours.

 

Although I'm sure they didn't have someone walking off with part of their ship to do...chemistry experiments.

 

Just a guess...

 

I'm betting she's more of a voluntary guinea pig, testing the results of the experimentation.

I thought this was fascinating: interview with the pilot who landed a C-130 on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. And to relate it to the Sheep, they also mention and show a picture of Jimmy Thach, inventor of the Thach Weave, Best Flight's favorite tactic. The rest of y'all in the lesser flights should try it, it works great.

This is not the one I'm thinking of; but it is a starting point.

 

The nostalgia is strong on FB today. This popped up, and I wish I had a nickel for every time I went through this routine. This is the basic exterior walk-around inspection for pilots; flight engineers checked about a hundred more things than they did.



Then somebody edited a video recording from a tactical arrival at Little Rock AFB, filmed from a camera right next to the flight engineer seat. This is the kind of landing we made at the end of my last C-130 flight, which was at Little Rock. It's like every blade of grass is an old friend I haven't seen in years.

 

Watched Mosquito Squadron last night. Would've been better if they'd dropped the whole love story, but I suppose they needed that to get the ladies of that time to agree to go see it. I swear, George cribbed the entire trench run from the end of that film!!!

 

Haven't seen that one in a few years. IIRC, it used some footage and outtakes from 633 Squadron, IMO a better film and much better book.

As for George's cribbing, watch The Dambusters. Some of the dialog was copied word for word.

 

Some of Intrepid's nooks and crannies probably resemble these from the battleship New Jersey:

New to me, too! "Where'd you dig up that old fossil?" Wish he'd left it in; it finally seems like the Rebels had to make an effort. As it is, it's all up to the Ewoks!
