General Grievous was organic at one point!? wth? I thought he was a droid like the rest of the army..

I thought in his story in Visionaries they claimed that he made the mask himself, or at least added the designs to it.

 

During his duel with Obi-Wan, there is a closeup of Grievous' face. It is clear that those are organic eyes. Two other elements in the film show he's organic: his cough, and the organs inside him that you see when Obi-Wan rips his chest plate off.

 

I was under the impression that Grievous had a techno-organicliek running throughout his torso and his eyes were just made to look like that for intimidation purposes, and as for the green insides, I thought that was his energy generator or w/e..
I'm sooo glad my brother doesn't come to these boards..

 

Nope, those are definitely his organic eyes. That was his one request when he agreed to become Grievous: that he be able to keep his eyes.

Perhaps he just wanted to see things "with his own eyes".

 

Kicker; Grievous was hired by (iirc) the Inter Galactic Banking Clan while human, and they engineered an accient. He still survived far too unscathed, and so he was secretly surgically 'damaged'. That's when he was approached by the future Separatists, told there was a war coming and he could be on the front-line - the leader of the droids, more than a mere man (or whatever). Grievous never knew the extent to which he had been manipulated, nor did he ever realise even his brain structure had been altered to enhance aggression, etc. See Labyrinth of Evil and the RotS novelisation.

Actually, Grievous made the second mask he wears on his droid body. For vanity reasons. (His father carved the first pre-cyborg mask).
