Wow we actually got to see a few other people besides the regulars! It was really beginning to look like just 10 to 12 people who are "Lost" rather than the supposed 40+. What do all those other people do--sit on their thumbs all day while they star at the ocean hoping for a rescue? Especially last time when they had to dig out the Doctor and the Hobbit. Seems they could have used a lot more help than just 4 or 5 at the digging!

well there wasn't a lot of room..HA HA

my question is this...when they cycle thru all of the people's 'back stories' where are they going to go from there? just something i was thinking about...

had to dig to find this thread.

Ok, so the past couple of episodes have dealt with Loucke. it is like he leading everyone in the direction they need to go. granted by some interesting methods. (last week with boone)

last night's episode brought to life some things. something about walt and how when he either 'reads' about something or whatever it seems to come to life. the bird, the polar bear.

i was upset with my TIVO...they are airing LOST and ALIAS on off minutes...so i totally missed the part when claire came back. grrr

I finally got the chance to watch last week's episode. Boy, Locke is literally messing with people's heads now, isn't he?

Much like Boone, I was also 'relieved' when Shannon 'died'. Interesting backstory there between he & his step-sister. This show gets a little more Greek with each episode.

Last night's episode gets you thinking!
Notice the Polar Bear in the comic book and then there is another Polar bear attacking. Was it somehow "special" Walt's doing? That was strange with the bird crashing into the window--and it looked like the same type of bird he was looking at in the book he was reading at the time. Wish I could remember the other time he was looking at that comic book--did it coincide with the first Polar Bear attack?

Yeah, I noticed that too, BB. Does this have something to do with the island itself, or just little ole Walt?

well it would have to do with just walt..reason being they were still in sydney when the bird crashed into the window. and brian (his step-dad) said that there were something 'different' about him even before they came to the island.

Maybe the whole island is his doing. He probably feels Lost without his Mother and having to go live with a father he doesn't even know.
As to the big monster that may have been in the comic book too. I think I remember seeing some big robot type of thing in it and the sounds the "monster" makes sound somewhat mechanical to me. It would explain why the pilot wasn't eaten too.
Though the Walt connection doesn't really explain why there are other people on the island and why they would want Clair's baby. Not yet anyway.

I think that in many ways, most, if not all the characters were "lost" in some fashion before they even got stranded on the island anyway.

Ok there are some spoilers in this...so read at your own risk.

    100% spoilery
DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE TOTALLY SPOILED. I mean
that. Taken from the most recent TV guide:

Jack: Makes risky decision to trust Locke and show him where the gun-
    filled Halliburton is.

Kate: during a drinking game she will discover she and Sawyer have
    something major in common.

Sawyer: In flashbacks Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) provides him with
intriguing information regarding his parents' deaths.

Claire: Ethan will make a return to kidnap Claire again. Claire has
amnesia and remembers nothing about what's happened on the island.

Sayid: His flirtation with Shannon will grow more intense

Locke: When Ethan reappears (Feb 9) Locke will play a pivotal role in
the plan to stop his reign of terror.

Charlie: A threat to the recently recovered Claire's safety will lead
    him to a shocking act.

Sun: Another survivor will learn that she speaks English.

Jin: A run-in with Ethan will leave him injured.

Hurley: will continue to try and mend fences with Jin; will get a
chance to show his heroic side during and adventure in the jungle.

Michael: will finish building the raft, but tragedy may keep him on
    the island.

Walt: will continue to chafe under Dad's stern parenting.
yay...michael still won't have the hang of it

Boone: a mistake will inadvertently lead him to Walt's dog, Vincent.

Shannon: Claire's reappearance will trigger a sofer side of Shannon.
