this sounds straight out of a prequel scene. Love it.

and I’m digging vernestra’s new clothes. Where’s our black series figure?

Also had this feeling… and think it will just serve our friend
Plags who will wait for Qimir to train Osha to full potential and Vern to train Mae the same and then send Qimir and Osha to fetch Mae and finish the ascension ritual with the help of Mother Koril merging the twins together in one incredibly powerful force user that will then kill Qimir and become Plags apprentice… but it won’t last maybe because the merging was done too late in life and the obtained being is powerful but too unstable because the twins identities were too formed and something will happen…
    I call it now

Interesting to see Vernestra featured so heavily in the finale (although by default because most of the cast is dead.)

If she plays an even more prominent role in the future, I hope the actress is allowed to show some emotion. Nearly every line from her is delivered with the same clipped tone and facial expression. The Jedi’s control of their emotions doesn’t translate well to a captivating acting performance.

Vernestra was much better when they let the actress actually play off some interesting characters, and work with good dialogue. She suddenly sprang to life when sparring with Senator Rayencourt and at the Senate committee meeting. And also during her chat with Mae. Good actress that should've been given more to work with.

Imagine if they took the Andor route, where we see Mon Mothma on the political side of things as its own story

Plot A is the Sol/Osha/Mae stuff. And then instead of flashbacks we get Vernestra and Ravencourt continuing to have more intense discussions around this issue, until she has to come 'clean' and tell the Senate of these matters (perhaps even in cover up mode). You wouldn't even really need Vern to be in the same story with Sol, she just finally rolls on in to Brandok in the last episode, where the two plots converge

I honestly think this is what Headland had in mind, given some of her comments way back when, and she then had to rein it in due to studio mandates on the SW brand. A show like the one you describe could've been an absolute masterpiece. And would have likely avoided a woodchuck guy trying to crash a ship for no reason.

This is a massive nitpick but for some dumb reason it bugs me how Vernestra uses the force to open doors. For years now every grocery store on the planet has had motion sensing doors that open when you walk towards them but on Star Wars presumably only Jedi can open a door with the wave of a hand?

Well, in a Jedi temple, it is a good security measure. So only Jedi can open doors.

So Vernestra evolves from a hypocrite as a teen to a HUGE hypocrite. Beautiful.

Yes, I agree. I'm not sure why she does this. I could sort of understand it if there are restricted areas of the temple they don't want non-Jedi or untrained younglings accessing and using the Force is the only way to open the door. But no other Jedi is seen doing this, so it's specifically something that Vernestra does. Maybe the writers thought it was a way to showcase an aspect of her character and distinguish her from others.

Notice one of the only times she doesn't use the Force to open a door is in the final scene with Yoda. Is it because Master is watching and would disapprove?

One thing I hadn't fully considered is that by throwing Sol under the bus for the murders, Vernestra is also...protecting Mae. As Sol would have wanted. So though she's certainly covering her butt re: Qimir, it's not as simple as her being purely self-serving. She is also respecting Sol's wishes.

A rather consistent character arc. And Elzar is thoroughly avenged.

Vernestra wants to keep things internal because the Jedi have always kept things internal. To her, this isn't really a cover up. so much as Jedi Business.

Investigation of internal affairs falls within that. It's only a recent change, where the Senate, or those outside of the walls of the Temple, want a peak inside. And the Jedi now become suspicious and over-protective of their internal findings.

Season 2, she investigate things further. None of this is just forgotten about. She'll be hunting down Qimir, while Senate secret agents follow her.

Maybe. But she also needs Mae to find her former apprentice for some mysterious backstory. So that may end up being her own motivation.

That's one way to view it. Another way is that she recognizes Mae is a potential tool to use as she tracks down the guy who wrecked a squad of Jedi, and who is her former apprentice, and whom she thought was dead. "I'm sorry, old friend," the line she whispers to Sol's body, sounds like it could be from a dirty cop procedural, and perhaps it is. Full-on corrupt, as Pam Beasley would say.

What did Master Yoda know, and when did he know it?

There is most certainly a mystery with Venestra and Qimir. And its probably not gonna be as simple as he turned and now she seeks to find him.

Oh I think that's exactly as simple as it will be. That's this show's M.O. They always go with the obvious solution. At most we'll probably learn that Qimir simply didn't like the Jedi's rules which led him to embrace the dark side.

Either way, Vernestra's intent is to track him down and kill him, lest it get out that her former Padawan killed a ton of Jedi, and perhaps with knowledge that he could plausibly whip up a cover story, truthful or not, about how she and likely other Jedi did something wrong that led him astray.

Oh, I didn't say it was her only motivation. She has multiple. She's also covering her butt re: the Qimir problem, and using Mae to get to him so she can end that problem. It's just that at the same time, she's also doing what Sol probably would have wanted. So...it's complicated. It's not just "Vernestra is a lying, self-serving a-hole. Full stop."
