    Well I was talking more of the overall composition and colours of the flag, but yeah, any swastika on its own has a hard time.

    Not bad. It would lose points for the words, but it works well in this case, and helps to break up an otherwise traditional tricolor. The symbol in the middle is also a stylised word if my memory serves, but can't remember what word exactly. 7/10

    Cyprus

    [image=http://www.doreebonner.co.uk/upload/images/dbi_flag_cyprus.gif]

    A flag with a map! It's very Mediterranean looking, and I like the colours. 7/10

    Mexico

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/m/mx.gif]

    You gotta love that coat of arms, and it's the only thing keeping it from looking like Italy's flag. 8/10

    Kazakhstan

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/k/kz.gif]

    An interesting design. I like the bird and sun symbol, and the ornament is a nice touch. Not sure about the colours though. They look good in theory, but might fade easily in the real world. 7.5/10

    Clearly inspired by the UN, at least it uses a nicer shade of blue. And as I've said before, I like stars, so extra points there. 8/10

    South Korea

    [image=http://www.lovethatkimchi.com/Travel_Korea/korean_flag.gif]

    I've always liked this one. It's full of symbolism and it still works as a good flag. 8/10

    15 star, 15 stripe US flag

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/u/us-1795h.gif]

    An oddity in the history of the Stars and Stripes, this one appeared before they decided to stick with 13 stripes and only increase the number of stars. Good job they did, can you imagine a 50 stripe flag? That being said, I kinda like it. 9/10

    English royal banner - late medieval style

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/g/gb-1399.gif]

    My favourite royal flag I think. I love the clash of red and blue, and the gold lions are always good. What I love most about it is the fact that even though it represents the "English" monarchy, France appears in the top left quadrant, symbolising it was the greater of the monarch's two realms, and it remained there for years after England lost any claim to France. It also gets extra points because even though it's from the Flags of the World website, I drew it! Ha. 9/10

    A British blue ensign with the southern cross pasted on the fly. Not the most original design, and the southern cross actually has five stars, at least Australia got that right. But hey, it scores points for beating the Australian flag by 32 years. 8/10

    Prussia

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b9/Flag_of_Prussia_1892-1918.svg/800px-Flag_of_Prussia_1892-1918.svg.png]

    Eagles are always nice, even if this one has a pained expression on his face. I don't like the think black stripes though, it's kinda like they couldn't decide between horizontal bars or a border. 7/10

    Württemberg

    [image=http://www.flaggenparadies.de/media/images/wuerttembergfurchtlos_big.jpg]

    Nice coat of arms. Lots of dark colours together though, but it's not all bad. 7/10

    Berlin (the city, not the band)

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ec/Flag_of_Berlin.svg/500px-Flag_of_Berlin.svg.png]

    Nice bear. Looks like he's dancing! The imperial colours are a nice touch. 6/10

    Denmark

    [image=http://sioe.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/dannebrog.gif]

    My second favourite Scandinavian one after Finland. Clean, simple colours, and the cross is thinner than other flags of its type. 8/10

    Germany

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/ba/Flag_of_Germany.svg/500px-Flag_of_Germany.svg.png]

    Bold colours, and would score points for being unique, but Belgium gets in the way. 7/10

    Armenia

    [image=http://www.interamericanmoving.com/worldwide/A/ARMENIA.asp_files/am.GIF]

    Arrrgh my eyes! 4/10

    City of Los Angeles

    [image=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/239/446725956_85fd9c1aac.jpg]

    Man, what is going on here. The comination of the three colours and the indented edges really throw a wild party. It's interesting at least. 6/10

    I probably could have used a picture that wasn't as bright for the Armenian flag. :p Concerning the L.A. City flag, the color scheme is nice, but I can do without the indented edges..................they have no reason to be there.

    Klingon Empire

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/f/fic-klg2.gif]

    It's a nice symbol, but why based it on the Nazi flag? The Klingons are nothing like nazis. 5/10

    Union Flag - 1606 to 1800

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/g/gb-1606.gif]

    My favourite version of the Union Flag. It's a brilliant combination of the English and Scottish flag, and looks so much better without the messy cross of St Patrick that was added in 1801. 9/10

    Tunisia

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/t/tn.gif]

    I love this one. The use of red and white to form a negative star and crescent is well done, and it stands out against other flags, even against Turkey's one. 8/10

    I prefer the St. George flag by itself. Don't need the Scots or Irish. :p

    Now THIS is a city flag:

    [image=http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3782/500pxflagofnewyorkcitys.png]

    Now the seal is a little too complicated -though I appreciate the fact the city took it upon itself in 1977 to correct the year of its true founding as opposed to the English takeover- but the colors -including the Dutch Orange- are great.

    I actually didn't realize that cities had flags. I wondered if Detroit had a flag, since I was sure I'd never seen such a thing.

    Now I know why they've been hiding it. [face_sick]

    I think this flag should get extra awfulness points for containing Detroit's timelessly depressing motto: "We hope for better things. It [the city] shall rise from the ashes." Oh, and yes, that one chick is weeping over a stack of burning buildings.

    It wouldn't be so bad if that fire motto had been around since the 80's Halloween arsons, or even the '67 riots. Then maybe our difficulties would seem relatively fleeting, and hope would appear semi-realistic. But no--that's been the city motto since 1805. Apparently, Detroit had 104 years of the good life as a malaria-ridden fort city in a swamp, and then blammo! It was all ruined. We've been dreaming of restoration to our former glory ever since. As we weep. Over the ashes. In the swamp.

    That is a pretty depressing flag ophelia. :p Although its mix of English, French and American symbols is interesting. I know absolutely nothing about the history of Detroit, but that flag tells me something at least.

    New York City

    [image=http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3782/500pxflagofnewyorkcitys.png]

    Yeah this is a nice one. Orange is always nice, and also honours its Dutch history. 8/10

    City of London

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/g/gb-lond.gif]

    I've always like this one. St George's cross with a sword. 8/10

    Planet Krypton (?)

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/FOTW/images/f/fic_kryp.gif]

    Interesting design, but horrible overuse of colours. I count at least 11 colours/shades there. Maybe pleasing to Kryptonian eyes, but not mine. 5/10

    I only recently discovered this, it was adopted only a few weeks ago. It's a vast improvement over the old one (below). 8/10

    [image=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/51/Flag_of_the_African_Union.svg/500px-Flag_of_the_African_Union.svg.png]

    European Union

    [image=http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/images/e/eu-eun.gif]

    Nice combination of gold and dark blue. What's interesting about it is that unlike other unions, the stars don't represent membership, but a "perfect" number that remains constant. Why 12? 13 was bad luck. :p 8/10
