Sorry didn’t see this till just now. He was in Morgan City(midish coast) earlier today. I could see him being sent possibly to Houma(east coast) by tomorrow though. It’s not far away from MC and it’s definitely moving more eastward by the look of things.

Upgraded 20mins after the 10pm advisory from 75 to 85 mph Cat 1.

I felt it here in Orange County. Always get ready to dive under my desk if it gets bad, but haven't had one of those in 30 years.

I would play this every time if I lived over there and a goodish one rattles off.

Given animals are often early warning systems for natural disasters, if she didn't flinch, hopefully that means your good for it not being a precursor to the big one.

I slept through it, which means nothing, but apparently it was quite the non-event here. Which is good, I'm always disappointed when I sleep through an earthquake that would've been particularly noticeable

Boston is now at 23 days of no rain. Which - apparently - is the longest stretch of no rain for the area, in 25 years (1999). Drove by a lake last weekend, and it was like at least 10 feet lower than its usual banks.

NHC is issuing advisories on the disturbance off the Southeast US coast. A Tropical Storm landfall is likely for South Carolina.

There is a disturbance with a high chance of cyclonic development below the Yucatan peninsula stretching up the Gulf. There is also another Cabo Verde track disturbance with a moderate chance of development making its way across the Atlantic.

Looks like the Florida Panhandle might get slammed yet again.

The weather people in Florida have been talking about this one since at least Wednesday of last week and it wasn't even a thunderstorm yet. You can tell they've had a "quiet season". I don't want anything to develop but it will somehow seem like a disappointment if it doesn't. The somewhat good news was that the prediction last week was probably a category 2, nothing catastrophic.

Apparently the Sahara is getting green again (at least this year) with all that moisture staying in Africa, which has led to this less-active hurricane season in the Atlantic. It's causing disaster due to housing and cities not being built for this type of rain, leading to flooding. But if this becomes permanent and housing/infrastructure around the Sahara adapts to the return of a green Sahara, could it actually become a good thing overall? Or does this mean something like the Gulf Stream current is collapsing and a much bigger disaster will be caused by this? It's also increasing rainfall in Arabia and even parts of China, and there doesn't seem to be a clear reason why.

The Sahara was a tropical lush area of giant rivers and lakes about 10000 years ago. Wild seeing parts of it go “green” this year.

well... that doesn't look fun... I wonder if it could remain a cyclone through Atlanta?

Does that happen? I have a friend who just moved to Atlanta from Alaska because her husband's in the Air Force there, and that would be a rude welcoming.

The 11am report told people in Orlando to be ready for a major wind event. They didn't mention Georgia, but I am curious.

The turbulence above Chicago through like Pennsylvania was horrendous on my flight. Probably the second worse I have had and I flew through a category 1 hurricane.
