Buff, NY Wedding Surprise - March 26 INTEREST THREAD

Anyone up for hanging out after for few drinks it hitting the casino?

 

We stopped by the Hard Rock Monday (3/22) and met with the lady who is coordinating with Chris via email to look things over.
Based upon the size of the private room where this is happening and the number of guests, dueling is not possible. The changing room in the back is small but will suffice in shifts, and we can overflow into the private bathrooms nearby. We will probably enter through the side store entrance to get to the changing room via the back office corridors, and be able to make a grand surprise entrance rather than schlepping through the restaurant.
The dinner starts at 6:00; we'll probably be introduced between 7:00 and 7:15.

 

An idea or two for our appearance:

What if we have the Imperials enter first, and search the crowd for someone strong in the force - who will turn out to be the big STAR WARS fan of the soon-to-be-married couple. Armor first, then the Emperor, who will command Vader to find this person. Before he can be converted to the Dark side, the Jedi will enter, and after some slight discussion he will be asked to choose which side he wants to join.

After we've posed for pictures, we have some small tchatzkies we can give him - a framed Jedi oath, a Padawan certificate, a lightsaber instruction manual, etc.

 

I'd love to, but sadly, I cant. :-(

 

I'll run it by the Mom and see what she thinks...

no, sorry, the casio afterwords. sorry, I should have said that. I'll be there for the dinner. (miss putting the armor on, miss you guys too much not to go)

 

Sweet! I was hoping for an escort. Will have to dig out the costume tonight and make sure it's not smelling like the Dianoga partied on it for 3 months....

 

lol, I was thinking the same thing, just got my hand plates back, gotta inventory, and do a quick suit up. Amazing how much you miss putting the armor on after a few months.

 

Let's all plan to meet OUTSIDE at 6:15pm and enter TOGETHER. If you arrive early, sight tight and wait for the rest of us at 6:15 please.

Since this is a surprise, please change into costume once you arrive.

 

If anyone has anti-fog stuff could you bring some I can borrow? I can't find mine, and I won't have time to get more after work. Thanks.. see everyone @ 6:15

 

Hope everyone who goes to this has a great time! I'll be busy pretending I'm drunk and drowning myself in a lake. Gotta love the theatre.

 

A very successful event!!!
The groom(s) had NO IDEA anything extra was planned.
We had a longer than anticipated wait for our entrance, but when the bad guys burst in, the room took minutes to settle down.
They tried to tempt the groom to the dark side, but then pilot Rob rushed out to, in his words, "Hold it right there you scruffy nerf herders!"
Then the good guys came out, more pandemonium, and the choice between light and dark side was decided. Many pictures ensued, and we presented the groom with some small STAR WARS gifts.

A great job by everyone!!

 

Steve - did you get lost on the way to the post event restaurant?
Who never showed up or called?
We're still waiting at the table for 7 in the back - we haven't ordered yet, just drinks so far.

 

yesterday sucked so bad, I take the bus home from work, and should have been home by 4:30 to get the car and get going. Of course, because I had something to do, what happens? Bus breaks down for an hour. didn't get home till 6. There was no way for me to get from Blasdell to NF in 30 minutes. I'm sorry I couldn't make it, I was so looking forward to it. :-(

I did txt Chris and let him know, I have internet on my phone, but for some reason couldn't log in to let everyone know I wasn't going to make it.

 

Sorry I couldn't attend this one. Sounds like it was fun!

 

It was a neat event. As Larry said, the family was really excited. -Sorry you couldn't make it Eric and Chris. Some days are like that...

 

well, I wouldn't have been ale to suit up anyway. I popped my case Sat to put my handguards away, and my belt had snapped in half again. I can't wait till the weather's better so I can replace that belt with my new one. (need good weather to paint it)

 

Really fun event, the family had a blast! They were great to play around with... good crowd to ad lib with. Even though it started out eventful, had a lot of fun.
