MOD Welcome to the SWC (new users please read before posting)

Welcome to the new and improved welcome thread for the Star Wars Community (SWC). This has been in the works for some time as the old thread was badly out of date and we've been using the much anticipated release of the Sequel Trilogy to bring about some long overdue changes to our basic structure as well as re-boot some of our older threads and bring them "into the now". Some of these changes have been subtle, other have been more drastic, but in any case this is still the place to sit back and relax and enjoy the company of your fellow Star Wars fans. Your moderators are myself (Bardan_Jusik), TheSilentInfluence and Sinrebirth, please don't hesitate to PM us or ask us any questions that you might have.

One of the first things you might notice here are the prefixes we have at the top of the main SWC page (under our banner). These are here to help us to organize the chaos that is the SWC and to help everyone find their way around.

Social: These threads are for getting to know your fellow denizens of the SWC. Our main Social thread is the long running Cloud City Cantina (CCC). It's one of our more popular threads around these parts and we are on our 17th(!) version of this thread. We also have a "themed" social thread, the Dagobah Mud Hutt. This thread is much like the CCC except that you are expected to socialize in "Yoda speak". It's surprisingly addicting (and annoying at the same time ) but is always good for a laugh. These two threads are our only approved social threads. Please do not try to create a new Social thread on your own. When a social thread has run its course moderation staff will lock the old one and a new thread will be created/approved.

Games: Games are areas of the forum designed for fun and you guessed it, games. Some are simple like the SWC ABC game. We also have trivia games, our vs. thread and the like. The long running Jedi Draft game recently came to an end here, but you can still look through past drafts by using the Games prefix. Please do not start a new game without moderation approval first.

Fanclub: Fanclubs are threads where fans can congregate and discuss the subject of their fandom. This can range from being fans of a single character, group of characters or organizations and actors actresses that have graced the screen in a Star Wars role. Long time members will have noticed already that some of our long running fanclubs have been reorganized/rebooted to better bring them in line with the Star Wars universe we all know and love. Some light role playing and socialization is allowed in these threads, but please know that the primary purpose is for discussion as well as a place for fans of certain Star Wars elements to come together and celebrate their fandom.

SWC: The SWC prefix is a catch all for all the other goofy or one off threads that fall under the umbrella of the Star Wars Community. These can be discussions of elements that don't fall under any existing fanclub (or for which a fanclub wouldn't be appropriate or have a strong membership) as well as some current events that relate to Star Wars. As a catch all area that stresses Community the SWC prefix exemplifies the SWC forum itself.

MOD: The Mod prefix is used by moderation staff to denote moderator announcements (such as tjis one). These will also often be "stickied" to the top of the page for as long as they are relevant.

You may note that there is no prefix for advertising, questionnaires and the like. These are forbidden without the previous authorization of Site Staff, so please refrain from spamming our beautiful boards with such threads. Likewise, double posting is considered a form of spam. We know that sometimes in the excitement of a social thread or in the case of long periods of inactivity in a thread double posting is inevitable, but please attempt to refrain from such activity and use the Edit feature to avoid double posting.

Spoilers: With regards to spoilers, please review the Forum's rules regarding spoilers in the Rules of the JC forums tab at the top of the page. In addition, please spoiler code any information regarding characters, plot and the like for a period of two (2) weeks after a new movie is released for the benefit of those who have not yet had an opportunity to view it and would like to remain unspoiled.

As always, follow the Terms of Service and Forum Rules for Posting when interacting with your fellow fans. That means trolling, baiting, flaming are strictly forbidden and will be dealt with harshly. If any user sees an issue or problem that they feel violates our rules, PM SWC Staff. In the case of a serious issue (Flaming, trolling, baiting, etc.) use the report function. Likewise, if you have any questions on this or anything else about the SWC feel free to PM myself or other moderation staff. Once again, welcome to the SWC and enjoy your stay!



In addition...

All Questionnaires (including responses) must be approved by a Moderator before it will be allowed to be posted in SWC. Any unapproved Questionnaires will be locked and deleted.

(1) The Questionnaire must be directly related to Star Wars. Non SW related questionnaires will not be approved and may be considered Spam.

(2) Before posting a Questionnaire, PM it to @Bardan_Jusik, @Sinrebirth and @TheSilentInfluence

Well, Site Staff has known this has been an issue for some time but as it seems to be getting worse of late we're being forced to step in and making this announcement. Advertising of off-site forums/websites designed to compete with/siphon off users from the JC Forums is not allowed and will not be tolerated. Offsites that are natural offshoots of various fanclubs and used to promote healthy activity back here on these forums are perfectly acceptable. However the creation of exclusive clubs and groups designed to divide our fandom and siphon off users from our community (whether purporting to be a fanclub or "social club") is not. The promotion of such on these Forums is a bannable offense. We've received numerous complaints over the past few weeks regarding these exclusive clubs and the toxic, divisive atmosphere they create. Their advocacy will not be tolerated. This will constitute your only warning.

We are a community, a community in which all should feel welcome. This community is not set up as anyone's personal plaything to act as judge and jury with regards to who is "acceptable" and who is not. We are all here to share in our fandom of Star Wars, we are all acceptable. To those that disagree or can't get with that program, I am going to suggest that you learn how to play nice with everybody, or else pretty soon you will be playing with nobody.
