Any color according to her mood. If today she thinks orange is the new black it should just be orange. Or whatever she chooses. Wouldn't it be awesome if she could control the corusca gems inside like that?

I actually don't mind the fuchsia colored blade from The Old Republic.

The only issue is that it's probably too close to red and probably would look odd in a lightsaber fight against Kylo Ren's red blade.

Which she holds out and returns to Luke. and while I'm almost positive he will tell her to keep it and it will remain hers, given that it called to her. It's possible she could construct her own. I guess it depends if Luke has his own. But if I were Kylo Ren and attacking Luke's academy and knew Luke was powerful enough that Palpatine and Snoke feared him, I'd probably try to deprive him of his weapon before attacking.

I don't recall seeing a lightsaber on him and 30 years and one academy massacre later, he might not have the green one anymore. :p

Assuming Luke just gives her the lightsaber, taking away all glory of a Jedi creating their own.

The lightsaber may have "called to her," doesn't mean it has to stay with her. It didn't stay with Luke!

If Rey is to become a Jedi, I hope they SHOW US the process of creating one. In the OT, the green LS just appeared out of nowhere.

Rey already weilds a staff very well, so I think having her use a double bladed staff would seem a natural progression. A green double bladed staff would be awesome.

I'd really like to see Rey keep Luke's old lightsaber. The Force did call her to take it, and while that could've been only because she (and Finn) needed it to defend themselves on Starkiller Base, it would seem a little bait-and-switch if she stopped using it after that. If she is indeed Luke's daughter (emphasis on the "if"), then it would be really fitting.

But, let's say that she winds up making one of her own (which could very well be the case; most of the tie-in materials describe her handing the saber to Luke, which can't be an accident). I know some posters have expressed the wish to see non-movie colors used. Personally, I'd prefer the films stick with the basics (blue, green, purple for Jedi, red for dark siders). The more exotic colors are nice, but I'd prefer to see movie colors remain consistent (although I will admit that I want to see an orange saber sometime somewhere). Also, a lot of the non-movie colors seem really random, like they were done just because they could, without any forethought as to how they would look if actually created. The basic movie colors just look better (in my opinion), save maybe for the black and white darksaber from Clone Wars.

I'm sorry, but I hope that she doesn't get a yellow one. I've always thought that that color saber was a little ugly looking. I think it has to do with the fact that there's less contrast with the white core than the other colors have. That may be why blue is my favorite saber color; it has a very sharp contrast from the white, but because both colors are "cold" and associated with ice, snow, etc., it creates a look that seems completely unified in a way that none of the other colors (from movies or tie-ins) do.

So, for a hypothetical new lightsaber for Rey, I vote the color to be blue. I liked the visuals effect that had in TFA and think it would go best with the slate-colored vest, glove-thingies and sleeves/wraps she was wearing at the end of the movie (assuming that she's going to be wearing that a lot in the upcoming movies). I could get behind purple, since similar enough and could be a nice effect, too (not to mention that it never seemed right that only Mace had one in the movies and it would be an interesting parallel since Rey seems to be the successor to Mara Skywalker and Jaina Solo in terms of popularity and/or place in the franchise). I don't like green very much, but have to admit that it might make some sense if it was her favorite color or something (in the movie, she seems really affected by seeing a planet with green forests). Under no circumstances do I want to see red (unless she was forced to use a stolen saber from Kylo Ren or a First Order knight). I don't want to see another hero falls story.

For the handle, I'd say nothing too chunky or with lots of little bits on it (partially inspired by the fact that the TFA Visual Guide notes that the pistol Rey was given was specifically chosen because the handle was a good fit for her small hand and the subjective fact that I think that the hilts with fewer knobs and switches look more elegant). Maybe like a plain cylinder with an on/off button, one or two other needed switches, and some decorative etching on the rest of the handle. For the metal, I'd like to see them get away from light gray that's dominated the movies and go with a darker gray, like the metal her staff's made of. For some reason, I'd also really like to see a large, black rubber grip and some clear panels (made out of transparent aluminum or something) that show the saber's inner workings. (Come to think of it, even though I don't want Rey to have this kind, a saber made out of clear metal would be really awesome, although it might be too distracting for a movie).

As far as the double-bladed question, I'm not sure that's going to happen. To the general movie audience, it's a bad guy weapon, thanks to Darth Maul's association with it. Also, I think the main reason people favor it is because Rey uses a staff weapon in the movie. The thing is, a double-bladed lightsaber is a completely different weapon that a staff; it's basically two swords on on long hilt. That means different moves and use. I'd rather see Rey learn to use a normal lightsaber and be shown how to use Jedi training and the Force to enhance her use of her staff (and blaster), so in the movies we can see her using different weapons as best suited for the situation (which I think would make for more interesting fight scenes than just having her locked into one weapon for all occasions).

For what it's worth, in an online Q & A session, Daisy Ridley was asked about saber colors. While Ridley didn't mention what kind of saber she wants to use as Rey in the movie, she did say that in real life, she's want a solid black one with a 3D starfield pattern. I so have to admit that a black lightsaber with a sold white core (kind of an inverse of the Clone Wars darksaber) could be a really awesome idea, if they choose not to stick with movie-only colors.

That saber seems a lot lighter in her hands than it was in TFA. Hope they don't drop the sense of heaviness that the weapon had.

That does look like a practice session that got touched up with CGI rather than anything for the actual movie. On the Blu-Ray feature for the TFA snow duel, the actors did say that that the saber props for actual filming were a lot heavier than the ones they practiced with, so I think it's safe to say that that won't be lost.

Nice to see some prequel-lightsaber moves are being utilized. That would be a simple way to show that the characters are getting more practice and becoming more skilled.

For some reason orange immediately jumped to mind. I've never even really liked orange sabers.

I'd Like it to be Green, but I can imagine it would be blue as is tradition for the Protagonist (For all but one movie in each trilogy).

Preferably a single blade, but a double or saber pike as people have been speculating could be cool.

I've never particularly liked the idea of a lightsaber for every color in the rainbow, I prefer the tradition of Green/Blue for Jedi, and Red for sith.

Well if they can now adjust the length and how deadly it is why not allow to change the colour whenever or wherever she is to suit her mood?

    A Moodstone Lightsaber!

Of course that means you can tell if she's happy, sad or its that time of the month....RUN!!![face_devil]

I'd like to see a lightsaber duel between someone using the ''elegant'' style of lightsaber from the prequels and the more ''simplistic'' style from the OT.

A nice juxtaposition we have seen before.
