Some other early games for me. My grandma had intellevision. Two games I remember most are Tron and Pitfall. My dad got a NES about when it came out. This is what made me a hardcore gamer. Games like Super Mario Bros.,Zelda,Contra,Punch-Out Metriod,I can go on forever. My first computer game,I'm sure a lot of you can relate, would be Oregon Trail and Math,Word munchers in grade school on an Apple computer.

I think it was Tetris for the Game Boy, if not it was probably Sonic 2 for the Sega Megadrive.

" It was on NES and you played a slow ass little dude (I think he was purple)who had to get through mazes and activate switches and stuff. The controls were Mario Bros style.
I couldn't remember the name if my life depended on it."

My first PC games were these bit characters from basic that you moved around. My first game with graphics was treasure Island for the IBM PC Jr with a switch in the back to go between the first Dos and Basic. The almight CGA graphics, I basked in their glory. Before HD's and mouses and soundcards, we had music from our internal speaker imitating notes using frequencies, and we liked it! If only you younger kids knew the old days of the first computers you'd appreciate what it has evolved into.

I remember my friends commodore ran on cassette tapes. He had this old RPG way back in the day. Memories a little fuzzy but before IBM took hold you had some weird PC's out there. We even had a PC made by a Japanese motocycle manufacturer lol. That was a conversation piece.

Put me in a home I'm old.

Yeah...I think I oughta get myself in a home too. Old bones arent quite what they used to be. And then there's this new stuff like Bounty Hunter and Clone Wars...arthritic fingers cant quite fiddle with them control pads...Why, in my day, you had joysticks! Joysticks with only a button or two, that easily broke after much abuse with Pac-man and the like...

*grumbles and mumbles to himself, old-man-like*

    > JP-30... remember Planetfall?

The only Infocom adventures available on my CBM Plus/4 were Zork 1, 2, 3 and Hitchhiker's Guide. I never ever saw HHG.

    :(

But I have heard of it, yeah.

There appear to be a number of websites running java versions of the old Infocom classics, so I might take a look at planetfall one of these days, though I guess the legality of these sites is dubious...

Putting the gun against the screen... HA, who didn't do that. Once it started moving fast, you had to. That light gun wasn't exactly state of the art. If anyone has links to any classics online, let us know.

I would have to go with pong, on the old black and white portable. It was so cool, you could have 1 or 2 "paddles"; make them large or small; you could play yourself with one paddle; and it also came with hockey!

In the arcade, I believe it was Space Invaders, and at home after trying a few other home ?computers? (Sinclair and Texas Instruments), we got a C64!! I think the first game was one of the Scott Adams text games, and for graphics was some helicopter game where you had to rescue 64 hostages. I can?t remember the name of hand (it is getting late, and this was many, many years ago) Choplifter maybe???

Yes, I am one of the old ones...

Not really sure, but this was a favourite for most young kids in New Zealand on the Arcade machines when on holiday etc outside the Dairys with pockets full of 5 cent lollies and chewing gun etc

    The New Zealand Story
    [image=http://juegomania.metropoliglobal.com/emuladores/spectrum/thenewzealandstory.jpg]

Tiki and his friends are in trouble. Right Down Under in the land of geysers and Maoris the lovable kiwi has barely escaped capture by the Big Bad Blue, a large and totally vicious seal from the North. After falling out of the net containing his fellow kiwis Tiki unruffles his feathers and sets off to rescue his friends

    For more.

This isn't the "official" web site but it gives a back ground to the game etc.

You were this chicken and you had to rescue your Chicken friends / kill baddies and not die :p

Great game. Spent hours and heaps of 20 cent coins on the damn thing :)

    Goldeneye for N64.

    Best. Game. Ever.

I have a PS2 and still play Goldeneye practically everday. It set the stage for today's multiplayer games.

Actually, Goldeneye's multiplayer owes it's roots to Doom & Quake. :D

We had an Ntelevision (sp?) in the '80s. We had Donkey Kong and a few other games. I don't remember the name of my favorite, but you were this guy in a maze and you had to shoot bats and robots.

    Pong.

And I remember having arguments about who got to play next. We actually argued about who got to play the winner and be able to bounce a ball back and forth on a screen. OMG! How sad we were (compared to now), but it was great fun.

Now, there is no arguing. You just blow the other guy up in a multiplayer game of Quake, RTCW, or Jedi Knight :)
