I knew Ace wrote this song, but ‘spaced’ on him not singing it. Well, he finally did and I prefer his vocals.



What I am appreciating about listening to Kiss again now is how talented Ace and Peter are. I knew that as a little kid, but I actually hear it now. Frehley remains an amazing guitar player, glad he’s been sober for awhile now. He’s killing it lately (even more awesome for someone in their late 60s too).

Ace also wrote Parasite, but I love both versions. Nice to hear him on vocals. John 5 doing some of the lead work on this one.

 

As mentioned in the description, this is a rare recording of Paul Simon singing "The Sound of Silence" without Art Garfunkel.

January is my month for mid 50's-mid/late 1970's music from Elvis and Buddy Holly to the Led Zepplin and Queen with everything in between including Simon & Garfunkel. Why? I have no idea. Just seems to fit in January for me.

I been lucky enough to see them in concert and to hear them play it live. Truly one of the most memorable concerts I ever been to and hear them play that and their other timeless songs was honestly an honor. It's also one of the most surreal concerts I ever been to due to the crowd. In the main floor section you had well to do baby boomers and Generation Xers who grew up with them due to their parents (this was 2003 mind you). Then in the middle section you had mostly families again baby boomers who were middle class and their kids. The third section (where we were since we are just starting off in life and didn't have major $$$ to spend on concert tickets) was a mess of all kinds of groups including kids either in college or graduated not too long ago again like my wife and I who were dating at the time and of course hippies who never left the 1960's therefore that is where all the pot smoking was going on.
