Poll by Nevermind.
A cat, to which I proved allergic.
I didn't have any pets when I was growing up.
At age 28, I adopted a kitten. He was my first pet. He is, thankfully, still with us. We have had three other cats since then, two of them also still with us.
A yellow parakeet.
My first pet was a dog named Peanut. She was a Chihuahua, so sweet and cute.
Two dogs and a cat. Make of that what you will.
A dog, named Torro. He was fully of personality and character, I miss him. My dad said when we got him that he'd have nothing to do with the dog. Yeah, you know how that went.
My mum used to breed cats until we found out I was allergic to them. She gave away all but one. So that one was my first pet.
I had fish for a couple years. They were pretty boring. Unfortunately, my parents aren't pet people, so until I do the whole graduate-and-move-out thing, I'm petless.
A blue and white parakeet named Stitch.
The only pet I've ever had has been a couple dogs.
A duck, named Quackton. He pooped everywhere.
A kitten, named Smokey.
Atilla the Siamese cat, loved that furball.
Growing up on a farm, obviously a dog (if you want to classify my father's work dog as a 'pet'). I also had a pet lamb when I was 3 or 4 yrs old.
My first pet was some goldfish.
My first was a kitten that I named Thomas. Thomas got hit by a car, but my parents didn't have the heart to tell me. They did the classic "he must have run away", and I spent some nights staring at the window, hoping he'd come back.
A cocker spaniel mix was my first pet, but she ran away only weeks after we got her. She was replaced by my long haired dachshund Randy who lived a good long life.
@ the last two posts awwww.... My dog ran away alot, I was so scared and crying the first few times. But it got to the point where no one really cared anymore because he'd come back when he got hungry enough, and you just had to leave the gate to his food closed, and he'd be lying in front waiting. Or the neighbors would bring him back. Great guard dog, but completely docile outside his territory.
My cat, who is still with us. She'll be approaching the ripe old age of 8 this year
If we want to get technical it was a fish but I consider my dear departed dog Trixie my first pet
My first pet was a dog my parents got the year before I was born.
My first pet was a tiny white aquatic frog named Mortimer. Had him in 1st grade. Couldn't have a dog or a cat for the first 14 years of my life due to my allergies to them affecting my asthma. (Still allergic but I've had my cat, Goof for 14 1/2 years now.)
Always wanted a snake, but no luck yet.
A german shepard was my first pet. I don't remember the dogs name.
