I've not being paying attention enough to the boards of late and my apologies if this has been thrashed out before but .......
I can't help thinking that they are actually going to go for the Rey/clone gig....It's nothing more than a glimse of a flicker of a fleeting hunch but I really think the deluded fools are going to go that way!

 

This has been proposed many times. The obvious would be that Rey was created using DNA from Luke's hand but then modified and altered, perhaps with Anakin and/or Palpatine's and something else to create the Supreme Being that is the REY.

GRUMPY FG LUKE: What do you want now?

REY: I found your hand...don't you want it back?

FG LUKE: I'm a ****ing Force Ghost, what do I need with a hand?

 

Rey will be revealed to be a clone of Luke, Obi-wan, Palpatine, and Vader all in one.

Or she was created by the Force using the essence of all the Jedi from the past thousands of years.

The big shock will be that that ST is about a character named Rey, whose story mirror's Luke's and she'll turn out to be Luke's daughter. Kylo Ren, the son of Leia has a story that mirror's his grandfathers. Together Rey and Kylo's story echos Luke and Vader's story. Some call it a rehash, others could call it tragedy. One family born in part from the power of the Force itself is destined to struggle with both sides of the Force that they are literally related to.

 

Leia, Jyn, Holdo, Qi'ra and Zori Bliss were ALL Rey's mom.

And they are all Sith Troopers.

 

Legends will be acknowledged in the movie as a parallel universe and characters of that that timeline enter the fight against Palpatine who has become a danger to the entire star wars multiverse because of him using the world between worlds to alter reality.

The big shock will be a reveal that pulls out to show that Rey and everybody else are Star Wars fans at a convention doing a bit of fan fiction roleplay in one of the exhibition halls.

JJ was quoted in May saying something like: there's either a 4 hour movie or an 80 min movie, and we're still editing now. All the reshoots they've done is actually to make another full episode.
