Which of the Star Wars Saga scores are your favorites?

I agree, about ROTS going above ROTJ. Although I think that ROTS is Lucas' more wholesome achievement.

 

TPM is my favourite of scores, and it's quite heavy-going.
For the Naboo/Gungan theme, it's the whistle-inversion idea, to the music. And this is derivative of Amityville 2's trivial physics display. The trivial physics display, is about concentration of thought using theology versus the environment (the specific example, being when Adamski double taps the wood next to Sonny, helping Sonny become ill again).

Theology vs non-living matter is the one true versus. The Naboo theme is Star Wars taking part in that debate, as a reconciler between theology and non-living matter

 

Duel of Fates is the best in the PT and the only one i go back to listen now and then.

I prefer the OT all around.

While the OT scores are fantastic.
It felt like JW had so much fun with the originality and creativity of TPM.
ROTS is a fantastic score as well, but TPM just feels so grand.

 

Has to be Empire, first to use the Imperial March. One of the most iconic movie scores of all time.

 

ANH because , well it's obvious and it's the template for everything to follow.

ESB - yeah that march and everything else .

AOTC - this pipped TPM because of Across the Stars.

 

Empire followed by TLJ

 

The Phantom Menace is my favorite, followed by the other two prequels. Williams was on another level for Episodes I-III.

 

I can imagine almost every scene from the OT if I hear the accompanying music. Empire is my favorite, followed by ANH and then Jedi. Each has a scene highlighted by the force theme that resonates with me. Binary Sunset, Rescue from Cloud City, and Light of the Force choke me up every time.

 

TPM I use to listen to the whole scors at night and fall asleep to because it was soothing. I loved it, especially “Duel of Fates,” “Jar Jar’s Theme,” and etc. AOTC “Across The Stars” is my favorite track, and Jango vs Kenobi is amazing! For ROTS “Battle of Heroes” stands out.

For the OT I love all of ESB, especially “Asteroid Belt” and ROTJ is amazing with The Throne Room Dark Choir and Jedi Triumphant music.

For the ST I really can only remember Kylo Ren’s TFA theme which is good and Rey’s sliding down sand past a Star Destroyer theme. The rest is forgettable.

 

Looks like I am on the minority but my favorite is TFA

 

As somebody who'll always rank The Force Awakens dead last as a movie, even I have to admit that its score is sublime. It was such a triumphant return for John Williams; he came out swinging, for sure. Can totally understand your preference.

 

I have an affinity for The Last Jedi these days. The finale/end credits track gets me. Especially the harp at the end — just a great end note to the latest adventure.
