Let's pump the brakes a bit on this "rumor". Unnamed YouTuber who talks a bunch about Star Wars usually isn't the best source or form of inside information.

Well technically you are correct, but one group of movies only has 2.5% of the votes so far. Pretty representative of how I happen to feel about that trilogy also.

There is only one. The OT!

The PT is terrible when compared to the OT, but outstanding when compared to the ST

I was a kid when the OT came out, so that trilogy will always be my favorite. I can still remember the way I felt when I first saw the films. The PT is the perfect companion to the OT as it adds to the story, People want to focus on the clunky dialog or whatever, but it still tells a consistent and amazing story. The ST, I do my best to forget ever existed.

The OT, closely followed by the ST.

Btw, the PT should not be canon in my book, for the silly explanation of the force alone...

The OT for me is king. The PT has elements that I like, but there's just so much I dislike about them ( awful storytelling, meandering often unfinished plotlines, some terrible dialogue, some miserable CGI, weak character 'arcs' eg....virgin births and midiclorians) ..the ST is for me, literally unwatchable.

I love the OT dearly. I got into Star Wars in those two sweet years between the special editions, and TPM. I know every time that I watch A New Hope that I am watching a Great Movie™, and it is indeed a great movie, but the PT just has more going on, from a filmmaker who had a decade or more to ruminate. I think they're fascinating films.

I have nothing nice to say about the ST outside of the score and effects.

PT first but only by a little. The first 6 is my favorite movie/TV series ever and Anakin is probably my favorite SW character. I definitely don't Couch my appreciation for the prequels in objective anything, because I see art as subjective in nearly every regard. My only major problem with any of the prequels individual scenes is Padme losing the will to live (so I headcanon Sidious absorbing her life force to keepAnakin alive. If she hadn't known her kids were alive the despair angle might have worked for me.) My only major problem with the OT is Han not taking no for an answer from Leia in a way I find uncomfortable. One thing I love is all the rhymes Lucas put in from shot selection to music choices.

The ST feels disjointed and like it could have done more with the characters it had. Although ideally they start with a more unique situation in TFA.

Quoting this as well as liking it, 'cause I wholeheartedly agree with 99.9% of it, to a frightening "get out of my head" degree. =D= My only minor tweak would be to specify that Anakin is one of my favourite characters, as he shares that honour with a couple others.

Original Trilogy for me, but just by a little bit over the PT, and sort of in a “cheating way” since the PT complements and builds up to ROTJ in the OT, when ROTJ is my favorite movie of the franchise - not what I would call “the best,” mind you, since I think ESB achieves greater technical execution and has no weaknesses, while ROTJ has one two.

The PT *also* has several weaknesses, particularly in technical execution of the dialogue and acting, but is also easily the most ambitious - which is saying something, since “ambition” is kind of the thing that defines the franchise (even my one despised Star Wars movie is still somewhat ambitious by conventional film standards.) It also has probably the best music.

The ST to me is front-loaded with great characters and potential conflicts... that the second movie rejected hard in arrogance and in poor taste, and thus the while Saga ends up a distant third.

Prequel Trilogy because I always wanted to see the events of Anakin becoming Darth Vader and how it actually happened.

The OT, far and away, and the original film is my favourite movie of all time.

It's... closer than I'd like to admit between the PT and ST. I grew up with the PT, and while I went through a late teens/early 20s phase of hating them (just because) I do genuinely love them. I can look past most of their faults, but there are some glaring ones that I can't ignore. With the ST, I love TFA, I love TLJ, but TRoS is my least favourite of the Saga. It's arguably the only one of the nine I don't actually like, even if there are bits and pieces of it that I enjoy. Ultimately, I'd have to give a slight edge to the ST for second place.

God this one is difficult. I think I'd have to give it to the original trilogy in terms of sheer consistency. Even though I'm a big fan of TLJ and TFA to a lesser extent, TROS brings down the trilogy as a whole a fair bit. And I only really enjoy like 50% of the Prequel trilogy even if Revenge of the Sith is also in my top rankings.

The Original Trilogy will always be my favorite trilogy, and ROTJ will always be my favorite movie. I love the Prequels too, but a huge part of my childhood is embedded in the OT.[face_love]

As much as I think the prequels are truly very good movies, I still prefer the originals since they were my introduction to that world and I grew up with them. That said, I think some characters were handled better in one trilogy vs. another. For example, Obi-Wan and Palpatine were much more fleshed out in the prequels, while Yoda was more dogmatic, unlike his role in the older films. As for Anakin/Vader, I think its a tie; David Prowse, James Earl Jones, and Hayden Christensen all brought so much to that character.

The Original Trilogy by far for me.

The Prequel Trilogy is 'ok', I really should watch it again to see how it stacks up now in particular after having watched The Clone Wars and everything else that now bulks up that era a bit.

The Sequel Trilogy, well I enjoyed The Force Awakens at least, I haven't dared rewatch them since they were released.

The prequels are not perfect, but they are near perfect. The few things that bother me in them, are completely negligible too, and nothing takes away from the magic that GL brought on the big screen with his universe and all its characters. It is also by far the trilogy with the highest re-watch value. I have literally watched every single of the prequels more than a couple of dozen times, and I never get bored of them. Easily on the top of the list, but not by a large margin.

The original trilogy has the advantage of being the first one, and it delivered fully on that one. As with the prequels, the few complaints I might have are completely negligible and they mostly have to do with visual effects, which were absolutely stunning for that time but just don't look as great anymore. I rate all six George Lucas Star Wars movies as high as possible, and they will forever be the Classic Saga for me.

The sequels have some good things in them, but the horrific character development, the catastrophic damage they did to the classic six movies, the awful messages that they carry and the complete lack of novelty in all three of them, are unforgivable to me, so I will actually never re-watch them. I have watched TFA maybe 4 times, TLJ twice and TROS also twice, and they were even worse on every re-watch. It is gracious to call them "expensive fan-fiction", and let's leave it at that.

I voted for the Prequel Trilogy and I won’t change that vote, but I would probably vote for the Original Trilogy now. The prequels fueled my love of Star Wars for a long time, but now that a couple of decades have passed I’ve come back around more to remembering why I loved the originals to begin with.

That said, The Phantom Menace is always locked in battle with A New Hope for the top spot with me, and usually edges it out. I just kind of think Lucas took things a little too far stylistically once he had the freedom of a purely digital workflow and Dan Gregoire’s pre-viz team to push the visual effects and digital camerawork to the limits, whereas the Original Trilogy remains a bit more timeless and classical and beautifully filmic overall.

And the other trilogy, well it’s there for the people who want it, but it isn’t something I can get on board with. My Star Wars shelf has a Disney section, but it’s set apart from the other movies and rarely gets accessed.

Well let's start with my film ranks:
If I assign 1 point for my least favorite, 2 for second least favorite...all the way to 12 points for my most favorite:

    Empire Strikes Back 12
    Return of the Jedi 11
    A New Hope 10
    Rogue One 9
    The Force Awakens 8
    Solo 7
    The Last Jedi 6
    Revenge of the Sith 5
    Clone Wars (2008) 4
    The Phantom Menace 3
    Rise of Skywalker 2
    Attack of the Clones 1

    then add the scores...

    ESB 12 + ROTJ 11 + ANH 10 = 33

    TPM 3 + AOTC 1 + ROTS 5 = 9

    TFA 8 + TLJ 6 + TROS 2 = 16

    Math don't lie.

But now I'm curious...what if we just score the trilogies

    Empire Strikes Back 9
    Return of the Jedi 8
    A New Hope 7
    The Force Awakens 6
    The Last Jedi 5
    Revenge of the Sith 4
    The Phantom Menace 3
    Rise of Skywalker 2
    Attack of the Clones 1

    OT = 24
    PT = 8
    ST = 13

Little closer, but the results are still about what I would expect.

The OT is Star Wars. Other stuff can do a great job, maybe even surpass it in quality...but the OT is what they are chasing to achieve that goal.

Prequels were mostly a trainwreck, with some good visuals and a lot of bad dialog. They felt artificial and leaned way to hard into Lucas's love of the old sci-fi serials. AOTC in particular gets harder and harder to sit through as a complete viewing. It is uncomfortable to watch, particularly in any scene where an actor has to talk to another actor. TPM has actually improved with time...though that could just be we can see how much worse things can get. ROTS certainly is the best offering of the PT, but that wasn't saying much. Some great visuals and the duel we were all waiting for.

Sequel Trilogy started ok...I could see the "soft reboot" complaints from the first viewing, but preferred to see it more as an homage to ANH by the filmmakers...a love letter. I am okay with that...but was hoping for better with the next installment...which was a mixed bag of stunning visual work and horrendous story choices. Still, I didn't see TLJ as an abomination or the ST as a failure...yet. TROS tried REALLY hard to bring down the ST. It was spared the bottom ranking mainly for the filmmakers knowing enough to nail some very emotional moments (Chewie died?!, Chewie learning about Leia dying, Lando and the Cavalry). Proof that they knew what they were doing sometimes...they just didn't bother ALL the time.

Ultimately, ST gets a slight edge over PT because the people in the ST speak a little more like normal people.

Honestly, the ST people probably speak more normal than the OT people do...but somehow it doesn't sound nearly as hammy or awkward coming from those actors...perhaps it is the talent...perhaps it was how they were directed. Not sure.

    Conclusion:

    1. OT
    2. ST
    3. PT
