was it just me, or was the pear CG as well? you'd think when the pear was on the fork, they'd replace it with a real one.

It had to be cut with a knife and fork, otherwise the whole scene wouldn't work! Would you have preferred Anakin to pick up the pear with his hand, take a bite, and then open his mouth and levitate the half-chewed piece of pear over to Padme for her to eat?

    actually, yeah, me too.

I occasionally cut up pieces of fruit, but the thought of eating those pices with a fork never comes to mind. It's not that outraegous.

    Lame humor? You mean;

    Anakin: Did it hurt?

    Padme: What hurt?

Anakin: When you fell from the Moons of Iego you beautiful angel you! *kissy faces*

Lightbulby: *gets banned for being incredible lame*

    GAH!

Who eats a shuura with a knife and fork? Hmm, Emily Post says you should eat a banana thusly:

Peel banana, place on dessert plate, cut into bite-size pieces with a knife and fork and use the fork to eat the banana. Only monkeys eat the banana without cutting it up first!

Hilarious! Monkeys don't even peel the banana first!

This fascinating bit of trivia brought to you by Lady Sami. :p

Thank you, IkritMan, for your honesty. And I apoligize for dragging the thread off topic and telling bad jokes not worthy of being told.

Hey! Have I ever told you guys about the Jedi who walked into a bar-

He should have held the piece in his mouth while she took a bite. But that's a different movie.

"Only monkeys eat the banana without cutting it up first! "

Or, in the GFFA way, "Only Wookies eat shurra without cutting it up first"

"1. Why are there knifes and forks in the GFFA (even on earth, not all customs use them)?"

Because as viewers, we need to feel a connection between cultures. And this movie is being marketed to america mainly.

"2. If they have knife-and-fork equivalents, why is it not believable that it may be appropriate in that particular Star Wars culture to eat such food with these utensils?"

    Same as above.

Yoda mentions it in the actual film as well.

LOL! [face_laugh] [comic book man] Dude, funniest topic ever. [/end comic book man]. Well, it's at least ONE of them. :p

Because as viewers, we need to feel a connection between cultures. And this movie is being marketed to america mainly.

Well, if George is trying to get the viewers connected with the Star Wars Universe and our own, then stop with the eating of a pear with a fork and knife! :p This is one of the many things that bothers me about Padmé's character (which I have a love-hate relationship with), how can I connect with this girl?

Honestly. Give me an emotional breakdown, her inner desires, a real 3-D character to connect with! Not this pear crap. :p

    Good topic Darth_Trump! ;)

HaN___DoLO3, yes! I know that Seinfeld episode! In fact it was the first thing that came to my mind too! :p Oh, that's a great show...

"then stop with the eating of a pear with a fork and knife!"

I don't know about you but a civilized person, someone with respect for themselves as well as the people around them, use utensils to eat. It's what seperates us from the animals. That and the ability to speak.

    1. There are animals which do use tools to eat, such as Chimps. They take sticks and put them down ant hills, the ants climb on the stick, the chimp pulls it out from the hill, and eats them! Clever no? ;)

    2. Animals also communicate in their own languages, just because we don't speak them, doesn't mean they don't exsist.

    3. Yes, using utensils is the proper and civilized thing to do. But it is very uncommon to see a person taking a whole pear and diving into it with a knife and fork. There are some foods you eat with untensils, and others you don't. Perhaps if the fruit was cut into peices before hand, it would be fine if Padmé used her fork. But in this case, the fork and knife deal was unrealistic. Honestly, do you eat your pears like this?

I was waiting for that comparison as it's the easiest and most unoriginal one to use. The difference between us and Chimps and using utensils is they use a stick not actual manufactured tools. As soon as the first human figured out a pointy stick could be a tool, he started figureing out how to improve it. The chimp just moves on to the next stick. Also, normal humans don't drink thier own pee. I say again, normal humans.

"2. Animals also communicate in their own languages, just because we don't speak them, doesn't mean they don't exsist. "

The can't write and will never develop in that direction. They will also never figure out complicated languages such as Binary, Basic, or Pascal to mention a few.

No I don't eat pears like this. I don't eat pears. However I do cut my apples, use a knife to peel my oranges and other citrus fruits, and I very rarely eat with my hands. So I do follow my own rules. :p
