    @ Korea.

What the hell happened there? I left the match at half time to go to college and the Italians looked very comfortable.

When I came back, all I could see were a few thousand Koreans jumping about. I thought they must be really good losers until I see the score.

My prediction for the final: Senegal v Korea :D

Debo, where've you been? We haven't been able to have another wager. :p

    GAP is right :)

    Europe has the best teams...

Even though there is a chance, that all the European teams will lose the next match

but they still have the best teams. The only 2 good non-European teams is Senegal and Brazil.

Both USA and S-K has pure luck (especially S-K, they only won the last two matches because the opponent had a player missing (or 2 in case in with Portugal)

USA were very lucky, Portugal was in the first match arrogant so they won. However they were slaughtered by Polen and Mexico didn't play that well.

The worse thing is, after the world cup is finished, this thread will be over :_|

Europe may have the overall best teams, but South America has the best team in Brazil.

    Sweet and sour chicken!! [face_shocked]

I concur with the masses; the Korea Republic-Italy match was... unbelievable. Absolutely frustrating, agitating, fingernail-biting-inducing, hair-ripping-instigating, and shocking.

I agree that Totti should not have been booked; he was fouled, though unintentionally. Still, it did look to me as if he dived. A bit hypocritical, my thinking that he dived but should have been spared the yellow, I'm sure. In the end though, Korea would have been victorious, regardless of Totti's remaining in the game. Vieri'd missed so many marvelous chances already, and the Devils were stepping up the pace and obviously wearing out the Italians; several commentators (and I) believe Korea to be the fittest team--and with good reason.

I'm very pleased for Korea Rep., and I hope they emerge from the quarter-finals; after all, this particular World Cup tournament has been far from predictable (and the odds are on Brazil, England, and Germany for the championship). :)

UP I edited my post :)

Brazil is good, if they will play better against England. They had an hard time against Belgium and England isn't a country you could easily beat.

Living in a country that calls Football ?Soccer,? where we?re typically around 80th in the world, I?m very happy with how this World Cup has turned out. Italy? Out. Senegal? In. Argentina? Out. Korea? In. France? Out, without scoring a goal.

    My predictions:
England over Brazil: Maybe I?m just blindly optimistic. But I?m cheering for England all the way, and I can?t cheer them all the way if they don?t go all the way. 2-1 England.
Senegal over Turkey: Senegal has been playing tougher teams, and they know they have momentum. 1-0 Senegal.
Germany over USA: I think that Germany is going to flatten them. 3-0 Germany.
Korea over Spain OR Spain over Korea: I have no clue. Logically, Spain should beat Korea. But this is the World Cup of Underdogs, and Korea has already beaten Italy. 1-1, settled on kicks.

What an incredible victory it was for South Korea today against Italia. I was amazed when I caught the results here at work. I watched the game up until it went to extra time, then I had to come in to work. Both Senegal and S.Korea are on great runs in this World Cup, as well as the U.S. The game I am really looking forward to, though, is the England vs Brazil match.

What does everyone think of FIFA's suspension of Portugal's Pinto?

The squad worsened their already tarnished international image when forward Joao Pinto was sent off for a dangerous tackle. The Argentine referee has alleged that Pinto, a 30-year-old Sporting player, punched him in the ribs after the red card.

Am I the only one who missed the alleged punch? Whoa.

Captain Fernando Couto also faces sanctions, as he'd placed both his hands on the referee's face and neck while arguing the call against Pinto. His action certainly dismayed me, for one. I believe it's either British Eurosport24 or Sky Sports on television with the blurb announcing Couto's "manhandling."

    Check out a link here.

    Edit:

Both USA and S-K has pure luck (especially S-K, they only won the last two matches because the opponent had a player missing (or 2 in case in with Portugal)

Yes, Portugal and Italy were undermanned compared to Korea Rep.--but certainly you cannot deny that the bookings were deserved (with the possible (questionable) outing of Totti), and in fact that either nervousness and/or determination to stop the Koreans played a role?

    LOL
    samething happened during Euro 2000

If Portugal leaves a tournament it's always with Red Cards, Suspended players and fines.

EDIT: Well the only red card that was deserved was of Pinto but I don't agree about the other 2.

Yeah the determanation did play a role. But not much, but statistic speaking Portugal and especially Italy are better. They only scored against Portugal because Portugal only had 9 players.

Sure they scored against Italy at the last minute, but when Totti was send from the field. Morale suffered amongst the Italians(sp?), they were confused, especially in the defense and S-K scored.

If Totti wasn't send from the field, S-K probably never scored and it would've been penalties...and Italy probably won that
