    So many great moments in one film.

    Here's a few of my favourites:

    Any scenes with Luke on Tatooine. I can't help comparing that Luke, to the Luke who defeats Vader in ROTJ.

    "I find your lack of faith disturbing." - One of Vader's best lines.

    Han's conversation with the Imperials.

    "Who is this? What's your operating number?"

    <blast>

    "Boring conversation anyway." - LOL

    And, of course, Luke's final trench run. It still gets my heart going.

    I'd still love to see that opening sequence with the Star Destroyer fly-over done for an IMAX screen - in 3D. :D

    I wish TV3 would get rid of their logo from the bottom corner though. :(

    Talking about SE additions -
    I really like the moment between Luke and Biggs they added.
    "I told ya I'd make it some day. They'll never stop us."

    *sniff* Poor Biggs.

    Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but wasn't that always in there!? ?[face_plain]

    It sort of only half makes sense until you see the (still) missing scene - or read it in the novel.

    I feel seeing ANH now after seeing TPM gives Obi-Wan a whole new feel/image.

    He seems cooler and some of his lines have more meaning knowing more of the background of the Obi-Wan/Anakin/Vader history.

    The starting of ANH gets me everytime.

    A classic a pure classic, i am in a star wars heaven for the next 3 weekends

    Buzz;
    >> I'd still love to see that opening sequence with the Star Destroyer fly-over done for an IMAX screen - in 3D. <<

    Well, it's actually been done (but not in 3D). Maybe it'll come to Auckland one day;

    A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy Somewhere Near San Francisco Simpson's first choice for the film's visual effects was Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), founded by George Lucas to create special effects for the first Star Wars film. Since 1975, ILM artists have received 14 Academy Awards for best visual effects and 9 for technical achievements. With a reputation for breaking new ground in such films as Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET The Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, ILM was eager to take on the challenges of the IMAX medium. For technical expertise, NOVA turned to Christopher Reyna of IMAGICA USA, a pioneer in large-format special effects since serving as technical director of the restored 70mm triptych sequences of Abel Gance's Napoleon in 1981.

    ILM suggested a bold idea for their large-format debut: to recreate two of the most breathtaking shots from Star Wars, the opening intergalactic chase and the Millennium Falcon's jump to hyperspace. ILM visual effects supervisor Bruce Nicholson planned to film the original models and matte paintings with a motion controlled 65mm/15 perforation camera, scan the original negative and composite the elements digitally. Additional enhancements, such as a star field and nebulae, would be created entirely in the digital realm. But first, ILM had to configure a digital scanner capable of the vast resolution requirements necessary to meet the "gold standard" for 70mm/15 exhibition, a project directed by Josh Pines. Says Reyna, "The quality and scope of digital scanning and compositing on this project are unparalleled in large-format. It's an exceptional achievement."

    The rebel base reunion with Biggs was a SE edition:

    Biggs BTS databank entry at the official site

    That's why I love it, it fits in so seemlessly with the original, it's impossible to know, unless you have the original on tape.

    Oh well. The memory must be going. [face_plain]

    It has been quite a while since I've watched the original versions - maybe that's what I should do mid-week between TV3's movies. I wish I'd thought of that last week. :)

    I saw an original 95 release, wide-screen Empire Strikes back at Real Groovy Records on Queen St. That was a few months back, and someone's probably snapped it up by now.

    • 4. "You underestimate the power of the Dark Side." - Darth Vader

    • 3. "Do, or do not. There is no try." - Yoda

    • 2. "Rrrrrooowwwrrrr!" - Chewbacca :)
