I think it looks good. It's really up to you about putting dents on it. I think this looks like the EP4 version if anything. It seems as the movies went on the quality of everything got better and better. This looks like the first EP4 rough version. And the materials are excellent.

    Cool,

Yeah I really like the look of R2 in EP4, especially in the opening scenes; all dings and dents in him, and you notice them even more in the DVD releases!

It is amazing how much dirt and imperfections you can see now on/in R2 which were never really visible before in the video formats.

And as I see it, if you are going to spend a lot of your time with your head sticking out of the top of an Xwing your gonna get all dirty and banged up ;)

I want to do (maybe) a couple of versions of textures for R2, one really dirty and worn, and another not so, more towards the R2 seen in the Cloud city in EPV.

    :)

    Wiz.

Ps - Re: the coffee stain hehe, I think that is actually in the reflection map I am using, will check when I get home tonight as it does stick out a bit doesnt it :p

Wow... I know you're being humble Wiz, but this is some awesome work!
The detail (to me) is excellent. Again, Can't wait for the end result.

Wow, very nice texturing work, except this reflection map. Have you tried using HDRI? you can really tell the difference

    Thanks fellas,

I am quite suprised by how well it's turning out, considering my texturing skills were not what I considered my strongest point, but by the looks of things I'm getting better ;)

Not really messed with HDRI, hmmmm, will have to look more into that me thinks, thanks for the suggestion :)

Well I wont get a chance to post any updates till the weekend I'm afraid, but hopefully should be the rest of him done, then back onto finally finishing the corridor...

Then wot next, many many many things i want to get onto, might try and dig out my old MECH mesh and finish him finally... a render attached just for amusement and something to look at other than me blurbing on hehe :)

    http://img315.imageshack.us/my.php?image=walkerwip9gv.jpg

Think tho I might have lost him when my HDD went down several months ago, but sure I have him somewhere in an email sent home.

Anyway thats me for tonight, more soon :)

    I like your walker :)

If it needs a home, I would certainly like to see it in action. If you would too, let me know!

Hmmmm you could just be right, will check it out :)

A brief update, not had chance to do much just lately but had a crack at texturing the body (front side), so here it is, wot ya thinks?

    http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=r2bodytexturewip6ud.jpg

Ooh its prob also worth noting I totally rebuilt his body, and also reworked a lot of the leg (leg not in render), as I found many faults with my mesh (as it was done sometime ago now lol) when I was preparing the mapping for texturing.

    Cheers,

    Wiz.

Works like the one in EPIII??

    Sorry how do you mean?

If you mean animation (third leg retracting ect.) the only elements that animate on him at the moment are his dome which rotates, and the lights animate (well some do hehe). But do however want to get him animated with his third leg etc. so keep watchin this space and who knows in six months I might have that done hehe...

Just trying him out in some environments, want to get him as photorealistic as possible... think I am getting there?

So heres another of me just playing round (background picture taken on google images).

    Thanks matey, :)

Looking to finish R2 tomorrow then back fulltime on the Walker (promise ;)).

And once the Walker is done, I will finally get round to finishing the corridor (which is all but done, still playing with the lighting), so will post that as well (soon, cough... honest injun!).

And then I can hopefully(!) finally(!) say that the R2 and Tantive corridor projects are done and dusted, and not a year too soon hey ;)

    Well more stuff coming soon.

    Cheers,

    Wiz.

    [image=http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2883/r2onicele9.jpg]

I am pretty much done now on the texturing side, albiet some minor tweaks, still playing with the lighting, but hoping soon to put R2 into the (finished) corridor, so nearly done (phew, about time :p).

    Hopes ya likes,

    Cheers,

    Wiz.

The texture work is good, I think it's just the material that need to be tweaked, or the light maybe, because the render is kinda burnt right know.

By the way -cough- I need a good R2 model to go with that chick...

R2 is my favorite character, and it looks like you've got it perfectly, It'd be cool to see some animations.

And about the post above---that's a cool character, great materials!
