Hey everyone! Get patriotic, get excited or just get plain old drunk!

(Guess which one I'm leaning toward *hic* ;) )

I'd love to join you but I'm at work and I'll be sleeping for half of the day. :(

I think it marks the anniversary of Capt. Cook stepping on dry land and proclaiming he 'discovered' it (never mind the fact that, as far as the Aborigines were concerned, it was never 'lost' in the first place.)

Current historical significance is that it's a good excuse for a long weekend, a barbie and a p*ss-up.

Sorry Kahli. We got a thing here called 'daylight savings'. It roughly translates as "our cows aren't ugly enough to require an extra hour's beauty sleep." ;)

Come back in an hours time. Then you can party. :D

Will you get up early for the traditional flag raising ceremony and loyalty oath to the Queen?

Well, we'll have a couple of extra beers for you while we're waiting for you to join the party, Kahli ;)

Hey, after all, what are friends for? :D

EDIT: What's that, your Humbleness? There's flag raising, oaths and *shudder* getting up early involved?

Geez. I'm still recovering from last year's dawn service on Anzac day. Think I'll have to get patriotically hung-over instead.

Oz day marks the landing of the First Fleet in Port Jackson.

I'm working this afternoon, but we are having a couple of friends over for a BBQ, so there's our celebration.

Yeah I'll get the BBQ cranking. Probably a visit to the beach and this cool park nearby. Some friends, cricket, music (JJJ, even though I hate them).

    Same as always...
