Friday night? But... I'm lost. Does it or does it not start at sundown on the 30th?

    I might have last year...

    There is a different calander for Jews so our holidays do not fall on the same day(common calander) every year.

    Ah. I'm still learning this stuff. I have more or less the same religious beliefs as Jews, but I do not come from a Jewish family, and I havn't done anything to convert. I'm not sure I want to, if it's even possible. I didn't know you were Jewish, Matt. That's two people I can learn from now. :)

    Lol, i'm not sure you would want to convert.

    Need a Bar Mitzva, and a small thing called a circumcision.

    "I was wondering why you bolded "friend""

    Ah, I see. For a second, by asking me if I was hitting on you and if by telling Prim that he couldn?t be your boyfriend (here) just half an hour earlier, I thought you might be thinking of switching teams. 8-}

    Okay, back on topic; once again Prim, this is a great banner with a fabulous and festive concept behind it. Well done! [face_grin]

    finaly, off that particular topic, it took me a bit to realize why Adam Sandler, Krusty and the Rabbi were on the banner.... duh!! I felt a bit silly then.

    Well, not really. The conversation just naturally evolved from the banner to Judaism once the Hanukkah banner was uploaded. From there, it was only natural for it to evolve into aspects of Jewish life. ;)

    You still have much to learn, my young newbie. ;)

    Actually, when I accused you of highjacking the thread, it was meant to be ironic.

    I really didn't have much to say about the conversation ealier, although if you want to read an interesting story, read about Dinah and the Shechemites.... Genesis 34 if you have a bible. Just to warn you, it's a story that most guys don't like.

    Rabel, most guys wouldn't have a problem reading about almost-voluntary circumcision, its the things like 1st Samuel 18:25 that get us! :eek: :_|

    LMAO Oh dear.
    Unless I'm looking at the wrong calender, Hanukah does start on the Friday night, although on the calender it does say it starts on the 30th. Remember that Jewish days start in the evening, and so Saturday is technically the first day, but the second day starts on Saturday night.

    I heard the story when someone did a theme address about humour in the bible. There are a lot of interesting stories there.
