    Hey everyone!

I wrote a Callista vig today. It's set in an AU other than my usual Joinerverse.
    Here's the link

    I hope you enjoy.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I'm not sure I got it. Very good prose, lovely descriptions, but I finished it rather lost. Perhaps it would make more sense as a whole in your other fic?

    Who is Vero?

    Vero is Luke.
The premise is that Darth Vader (Vero's father and Master, had a vision about Luke and Callista being together (a scene from our canon universe) Therefore, being the helpful guy and wonderful father that he is, he had poor Callista frozen in carbonite to preserve her so that she'll be the same age as Luke/Vero so that they can get married!
And you are right, not everything is as it appears.
Sorry, Some of it is a mystery even to me.
The only thing I can say is that the Callista in the story isn't from Vero's own AU universe.
    She's lost! :_|

Wow, it was interesting. I just have a hard time seeing either of them as dark Jedi. No way. But good prose, I agree.

I'm not sure how much you're allowed to say on threads about your vignets, or stories, but I am working on one and I wish this nervousness would go away. It's interesting, and when I get good old writer's block--don't remember if you guys call DWB or Darth WB, or something else--I have to drop it, and only pick up when I have more to add. I went four weeks without writing anything in it except for a few edits.

It's not a plug, per se, just letting you guys know I'm pondering things and have something in the works. :) I hope it was okay to mention that here. [face_worried]

Don't worry about it, hon, my opening post in this thread was a total shameless plug. In fact, any time anyone mentions her I immediately post, "For an idea of what might have been, check out my fanfic! Shameless plugs galore are totally allowed.

    That's cool. Thanks. :p

Well anytime you guys wanna see it, I can PM you with it. I don't have it linked yet, cuz I'm still editing and fixing things slowly, as the inspiration sets in.

Wow...the end of the semester kept me busy for longer than I thought it would! [face_hypnotized]

I do like to think about how Callista might get her powers back. I agree with Cara, I have thought for some time that she might get her powers back gradually. Then again, she may suddenly get them back with or without any apparent reason. She may suddenly get them back because of some catastrophe, causing her to gain powers from someone else. I suppose there could potentially be a myriad of ways that she could have gotten them back. Then one could wonder if maybe, instead of getting her old powers back, she would find something better, like a new, higher level of powers. All speculation... :)

I remember the "What if Callista..." thread. That was lovely.

I have thought she would get them back over time, or maybe with the help of an old master somehow. I've also pondered the Zonama Sekot option, and I won't say any more on that cuz that might give things away that I'm working on. :) [face_mischief]

But I want to get some really good fanfic I haven't read with Callista. I wish there was more out there I could get my hands on. :p

Cara! [:D] The semester went very well, thank you, and now I'm done school. I am a Culinary Arts Specialist...providing that I passed my classes and I've no doubt that I did. I'm kinda sad it's over now because my classes were all super fun. I could have gone through the program longer, but I'm getting married and moving so I'm staying at the lower level, which is cool too. I get to practice at home on my husband soon enough. :) What you been up to, btw?

I'm looking forward to reading this fanfic that you keep refering to, LJ. I starting reading Cara's again. I think I started reading them all those years ago but never finished. It is interesting to think not only of what would have happened if she'd kept her powers, but to think about her childhood. We don't know much about her childhood from the books so it's fun to write at both ends like Cara has done. I've speculated about her childhood myself. What do y'all think her childhood was like? I'll post my thoughts at a later time.

    Hmm, callista's childhood...

There's a reference in CotJ that I'm thinking of. She says something about her days on Chad being very happy days, that she didn't think she was happier before or since.

But she doesn't have the air of someone who hasn't seen hard times. It's hard to know if she was like that before her time aboard the Eye, but it's possible some things happened in her childhood that weren't easy, always good, that even in her happiness there was sorrow.

    Hmm...

I'm not asking, or expecting any requests, just telling you guys that I would have to PM it right now. I don't want to put it up yet, because I'm still editing, sometimes changing things around or rewriting some of it entirely. Mostly, it's for expansion. I'm extremely rusty, and being very cautious with it, perhaps overly so. It's starting as a vignet, and I think part of it could be, but the rest... I haven't touched the second part, but it might become something longer. I just don't have any plot bunnies right now. Thing is, I want to write a story, not just something from someone's POV, but I can't come up with good plotlines for anything. :( [face_worried]

But it's fun writing, just the same. :)

I'm always intrigued by how differently they grew up, Luke on a desert world, and Callie on the sea. It just fits somehow, so much more smoothely I think.

Congrats on the wedding, Sunrider, that's awesome! I finished college and moved to Florida, where I'm working at Walt Disney World as a performer at the Magic Kingdom. Check out my myspace page (in my bio here) and check out my awesome character pics!

When's the date? Where you going for your honeymoon?

And LJ, I'd LOVE to read your fic!

Wow, Cara! That's so neat that you're working in Disney! I'll check out your space... I think it would be soo cool to work as a chef in the International Pavilions in Epcot. [face_dancing]
My wedding date is July 8th. We'll go on our honey moon in the NC mountains (I live in central NC) for a week, come back to central NC to say farewells, and then fly to Scotland where we'll be living.

I always had the impression that Callista's childhood was a very happy one, though not without adventure and thrill (such as diving in predator-infested waters, violent storms at sea, etc). I also think that her parents were strict, only in a kind manner. By that I mean that they expected their child(ren) to do well in school/chores/work/etc and to treat others in a kind and good way, but they were also very generous, and encouraged enjoyment of life. I think these things because I believe Callista expects herself to do well and she seeks to treat others well, but she is also light-hearted, when appropriate. I think that she was very close to her family (immediate family mostly and her extended family to a lesser degree but still more than non-relatives) because I imagined them always living on the sea in a water craft of sorts. I imagined that some times they were with other families in a fleet, but at other times they were alone or with only small groups. The small groups or fleets could have been made up of relatives (uncles, aunts, cousins, etc) entirely, or partially. I suppose psychologists would analyze her character and say that she must have had a childhood like x, but I'm not saying that it must have been this way, I'm only speculating. :)

I agree with you, LJ, I find it quite interesting that L&C grew up on planets that were very different. A contrast is, though, that Luke hates the dessert and Callista (if I'm not mistaken in my memory) loves the ocean.

Wow, you're moving to Scotland? Congratulations on fulfilling one of my life's dreams...

Callista does mention in CotJ that she was very happy in her childhood, which I did draw upon and use to illustrate her early life in my fanfic, but she does go on to discuss( in the book) "the father who never understood her and her stepmother who was to baffled and unhappy herself to comprehend either of them." So clearly, it wasn't without its knocks. It struck me that she found her happiness in the waves and tides of the sea, surrounded by life and the Force rather than her family.

I think a large part of the reason I wrote Callista such an unhappy life in Mergirl because I was very unhappy at the time. Many of the things I put her through were reflections on things that happened in my own life...it was my way of coping, I guess. Maybe she was happier than I was. :p

Ah, yes, I do remember now that she had a stepmother. What a forgetful thing I am. I suppose I should read the books again to refresh my memory. Cara has now proven her superiority. ;)

Huge UP!!! It's been to lonely around here, guys!

    So how are you guys?
I haven't written in my fic at all since last time, which was almost a month ago. If the pattern continues, I 'm about due for more updating. When I get things halfway figured out, I'll PM those of you who requested it. I guess I could do it now, but not sure if it needs more before I do that.

And meanwhile, I'll try to think of more for discussion on here.

    Cara Jade,
Do you think now is the right time to release the fanfic I have written so far about our underloved lady Jedi, Callista?

I imagine it's as good a time as any...

EDIT: I just realized where I recognized your screenname from! How are you, Steve? How has the story been coming along?

My allergies have been driving me batty, otherwise life is good.

Should I post the story here, or is there another section that I need to put it up at?

I still have to write up the confrontation, and do the rewrite on Master Djinn, but its shaping up pretty good (thanks to you, of course!)
