can vader breathe while he talks ?

I could of sworn i heard him talking while inhaling in ESB .

 

Yeah, he does that a lot. He sure is a talented guy.

It happens a few times over the OT. It's no big deal but, yeah, he does sometimes breathe when he talks

Among another things, Obi-wan also tore him a new mouth as well.

 

Can you fart while you breathe?

 

The pffft-haw sound is probably just his suit taking in air for him to breathe later.

Vader's trademark metallic wheezing is not his actual breathing....its his life support gear operating. Vader can talk while it functions.

I agree. I have never gotten the big deal with people having a hard time understanding this. The classic Vader "breathing" sound is not at all his lungs contracted in and out, it's his respirator system pumping air into his lungs and taking the carbon dioxide out.

Thus, it should in no way effect his ability to speak.

In fact, I just remembered this! Yesterday while I was out, I heard this odd "click, caaaaw. Click-caaaaw. Click, caaaw." I turned around to see an elderly woman with an oxygen tube going directly into here throat. An oxygen tank was beside her. In a moment, someone came up to speak to her and she spoke fine. Nothing abmormal about it. But all the while she spoke, her oxygen tube/tank/system continued to "click-caaaw" as it drew in air! As soon as I noticed I thought of Vader, LOL. Glad I saw this thread today!

Yes he can it's just an portable iron lung i have friends with breathing machiens and they can talk and breathe so yeah

 

It is breathing for him, but it also responds to his physical exertion. Listen to the breating sounds during the ROTJ duel. Short and shallow sounds.

It controls his actions, yet obeys his commands.

 

He would have paused to breath, if it affected his speech. Like that kid from Malcom in the Middle, Malcom's friend.

So yeah he can breath and talk at the same time. He can also choke infidels and blink his eyes under that helmet at the same time too.
