Hi everyone! :D In case you're wondering who I am, this is JadeSolo, aka Anu from MEPA. I forgot my password, so I have to use a sock for now. [face_blush]

Anyway, as discussed at our November meeting, members of MEPA would like to publish a quarterly newsletter geared towards Northeast fandom. Content can range from printed word to visual graphics, science fiction to northeast living - anything and everything. PG rated, of course!

We need everyone's help in this. If you're looking for ideas, here are a few to get you started:

--Boston trip to see "Science of Star Wars"

--Review of "Dressing a Galaxy" exhibit/book, including a letter to LucasFilm marketing asking how could they possibly think there was no market for this book in NYC...

    --ROTS DVD review

--New EU books - these can be split into post-NJO and post-ROTS. Reviews and where to go for spoilers for future books (but no actual spoilers listed)

--What have people added/deleted from their SW collections since ROTS? Talk about your favorite pieces.

    --cartoons/games

--fanfic - short pieces preferably. If it's long, it'll be chopped into several parts to be published every quarter.

--Photos!! We've been having great times, let's show them off. Remember, PG!

--Anyone who's been to a John Williams concert and would like to comment on the experience.

    --Transit strike commentary

    --Restaurant reviews

    --other scifi/fantasy-related articles

The newsletter doesn't have to be restricted to SW-related material. There's a lot more out there, and we'd like to see people's thoughts on it!

So here's how it works. Kristin (Benae_Quee) and I will be driving this flying umbrella as Graphics/Layout Editor and Content Editor, respectively. All submissions and questions should be sent to us.

Written-word submissions - reviews, articles, fanfic, and the like - should be sent to me (Anu) at milfalcon94@yahoo.com. Please send them as Word documents attached to the email, but plain text with markups is fine. If you're not sure, just ask, because it shouldn't be too big a deal.

Graphics - cartoons, illustrations, photos, and the like - should be sent to Kris at jedi_master_benae_quee@yahoo.com. Submissions should be .jpg files that don't eat up hard drive space or slow down the email service.

Deadline: January 31. If you need a few extra days, let us know as soon as possible.

Publication Date: First week of March.

Questions or ideas? Feel free to email us, and have fun!

Sounds like a great idea! We're having our meeting this Sunday, so we'll try to come up with some ideas. :)

Some of our members volunteered to write something up. I hope they make the deadline. --Billy

We're somewhat flexible with the deadline, so long as we don't get stuff the day before we put it up on the website. :p

    Thanks in advance, everyone! :D

    I have a few ideas.

Either a review of something sci-fi, or possibly a fic if I can put anything together quickly.

Anyone from LI have more articles for the paper? If someone wants to give Anu a copy of what you guys have planned for ICon that would be great, the paper will be put out March 1 :) If anyone has info, please send it by Friday so we can get started.

If you are willing to wait until mid-February, I could do a review for Star Wars: Outbound Flight.

Nah, stuff's due tomorrow. But you can write that review anyway and save it for the next newsletter. ;)

    Never mind then.

By March most people who would want to read the book would have read it already and not need a review. *shrugs*

Not always true. I've seen plenty of folks who get on the train really late. Dude, there's still fans out there trying to catch up on the rest of the EU. :p

Ok, so I'll write it up for the next one.

I might even write one up for Tripple Zero depending on when the due dates for the next issue are.

AKA mid-Feb is fine. ;) If you wait until the next one, that won't be until June. And if you have an idea of how long it'll be, that would help for layout purposes. But don't worry too much about that - we'll make it fit. :D

I'm not sure how long it would be, but I'll try to remember not to go too overboard.

As of right now I'm almost half way through the book, and I've only been reading it for 3 days, so I might be able to get the review to you a few days earlier than I originally thought.

With any luck I can have it to you by next weekend.

Just so I know, what is the policy for spoilers?

We're trying to stay spoiler free, but if you can write a reveiw without saying so-and-so dies, or this happens or that happens, then it should be fine. Just give us a reveiw and your overall feelings on it :)

I think Dana was contributing an AeroSith interview. Did that make the 1/31 deadline? --Billy

I would like to submit a piece of Fan-fic but I don't know how to attach word docs to e-mails.
